what does that's have to do with the son? Was the one who left Ishmael and the one who stayed Isaac? I do not get it.. ANd that is NOT what I was responding to.

God gave Ishmael and inheritance, and promised to be with him. What's your point?

Ishmael was a son of Abraham, as was Issac.
My point is that people assume that all sons of Abraham's blood will be saved and the Bible clearly says that is not true. Or do you believe Esau and Ishmael are also in Heaven?

So my question what exactly is this parable talking about?

So are you saying in the parable the inheritance promised is not eternal life?[]/quote]
why would anyone think it was?

[quoter]I think looking at the parables before and after this one would also give insight into understanding this one.
jesus spoke many parables about many events and things.. Just read it as a person Jesus spoke to would read it.

what is a father,. What is a son, what is an inheritance.

Then ask yourself. Did the father disown the son when he left. Or did the father give HIS SON the blessing when he left. Then PRAISE and love him the moment he returned..

And everyone else's assumptions are ???

how can you days after day say salvation is eternal. Then when a certain people starts to go against that teaching, and use things like this in San attempt to prove salvation is not eternal but must be earned. Defend them and say they are right?

Thought we were talking about a parable and it's meaning.

Why do you day after day always think all discussions are about works salvation?

I see no resemblance to that in the parable. I think your reading to much into it.

Thge parable is talking about a blood born child of God. Who wants to go back into the world and try it himself. Who finds out, That is not a good idea, that the longer he stats away, the more painful his life gets. WHich causes him to remember his father, and rtetgurn.

And how at no point in the story did the father ever stop loving the son, He was still his son.

1. I am talking about the parable. What else would I be talking about?

as for works, Why do you think Peter posted this and all his threads? To prove that salvation be can be lost. And whether he will admit it or not. That it must be earned. Do you even read what he posts??

You worry me..

Making an assumption that spiritual adoption negates all choice of leaving & judgment of unconfessed sin is not biblical.

It's simply not there.

One-verse wonders that don't cover the whole plan of salvation is inexecusable as proof scripture.

That's the way the cults do it.

so because they THGINK it, we should just all think it?

Howe can it be eternal life if it can be lost. Or must be earned by doing something, that is conditional life.

The above also answers Stephens last post.

The above is the source of the reinterpretation of the parable of the prodigal son.
If it is read as a son being lost and then found, this theological camp have to accept
the son has to do something to be saved.

They hate this, it goes to the core of their belief, and contradicts it fundamentally.

They would rather die than accept this, so must reinterpret the parable to fit in their
way.

So thank you EG for showing us why you must do this and how you treat scripture
to fit your beliefs rather than let your beliefs fit scripture.

It also shows the state of your heart and how hard it is to Gods word.
Well now I get why Ariel may think it is a Peter vs me thing. (I figured I would open up to read what he has been saying I should have known he was attacking me unprovoked again)

Peter I have you on ignore. I have stopped responding to you days ago. I respectfully request your do the same, it does not matter what I say, You take my words, twist them distort them, and make me say things I have never said.. You have made this a battle. I no longer wish to be a part of.

I am sick of your attack, Your slander and your lies against people. And your false gospel of works. YTou want to earn your salvation. Go try it. But leave me out of it.

I have every right to respond to doctrines. And things[people say in any thread as all people do. If you do not like it, put me on ignore.

Keep it up. I will report you. I am sick of your nonsense

I hear what your saying, but you are thinking today's nations is the one scripture speaks, in ww2 or ww1 those folks probably thought the very same thing your thinking right now,, but the truth is I don't know niether you know when it will take place..

Me and you and every person here could be long gone from the physical world before that takes place.. That how conspiracies form. It may appear as everything around you points to it happening in your life time. In times of old around the 1400's the Black Plague killed half of Englands population and over 150 million world wide when the worlds population was about 350 million whole groups of people thousands of people were going around flogging themselves because they thought it's the end times.

There have been many time since revelations was written any one of those serious events could have been a depliction of the end times especially from the prospective of the people who witness those events..
More clues that this is yet futuristic.

Out of the 3 angels mentioned in Revelation 14:6-11, this had never happened yet.

Revelation 14:[SUP]9 [/SUP]And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,[SUP]10 [/SUP]The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:[SUP]11 [/SUP]And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

Eternal torment awaits those that receive the mark to be able to buy and sell in this coming new world order.

This explains what the mark will do... give the bearer the ability to buy and sell in the coming new world order.

Revelations 13:[SUP]11 [/SUP]And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.[SUP]12 [/SUP]And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.[SUP]13 [/SUP]And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,[SUP]14 [/SUP]And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.[SUP]15 [/SUP]And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.[SUP]16 [/SUP]And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:[SUP]17 [/SUP]And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.[SUP]18 [/SUP]Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

It is common sense that the mark will be the biochip that people are using now to buy & sell in Europe but it is not the mark of the beast yet because it is not the only means to buy and sell.

The new world order will make it mandatory if any one wishes to buy and sell as resources will be pooled and controlled on that side of the world because one third of the earth got burned up.

That is the hour that shall try all upon the earth as Jesus promised one of the 7 churches in Revelation that they will escape from by not being on that earth to undergo that trial.

Revelation 3:
[SUP]10[/SUP]Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.[SUP]11 [/SUP]Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

Jesus also warned those that do not repent from spiritual fornication being committed in the church at Thyatira that they will be cast into the bed of the coming great tribulation.

Revelation 2:[SUP]20 [/SUP]Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.[SUP]21 [/SUP]And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.[SUP]22[/SUP]Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.[SUP]23 [/SUP]And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

So no one can say that this had happened yet in our past nor happening in our present yet. So that is why I see this as yet to happen and why we should be going before that throne of grace for help from Jesus Christ, trusting Him to prepare us and have us ready to go when it is time because the Bridegroom is coming soon.

Eternal life cannot be lost; but the first inheritance can be lost which is the eternal glory that comes with our salvation of being that vessel unto honor in His House; hence the elder son's standing with the father.

How can the prodigal son not be seen as a vessel unto dishonor in His House for having lost his inheritance to wild living?

What is the point of the vessel unto dishonor being in His House? Answer: they testify to the power of God in salvation for all those that even believe in His name. That is a glory in His House that will not go away.

I am interested mainly in one thing, walking with Jesus and encouraging His body
to do likewise.

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Heb 10:24-25

I love Jesus and desire people grasp this one thing,

"May have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ"
Eph 3:18

Well if you do not respond, duh, you are lost. Did you not read the label, you
have to believe to be saved?

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16

Last time I looked belief is actually doing something, it does not just happen out
of the blue. But maybe that explains you and why you do not understand the
gospel properly, you never actually have belief....

Like prayer is speaking to God. You have to use words to speak to God.
It is doing something. Like repentance is renoucing evil, sin and proclaiming a desire
to do good, and confession is speaking out ones repentance and faith in Christ.

But again none of these things are doing anything. I wonder which God you follow,
or which bible you read. Maybe the school of dumber and dumber has come to town.

Interesting idea. Where have I said this?
What I have said is God calls His people, Holy, pure, righteous and blameless.

So are you one of His people or do you disown Him and His praise of His followers?
