Been there done that. I used to believe what you believe, in fact professed it myself. However. i actually studied it after I got away from my believing everythign I am taught is from God mode. and found it to be problematic.

1. Babylon is called a harlot. A harlot is a prostitute, or someone who attempts to take the place of the wife in bed. it is also called a false bride.
2. Isreal was said to play the harlot by cheating on God. how? with another nation? or another nations God (religion)?

Babylon refers to the main city in the empire of Babylonia, like the capital, so this is tricky, and from this city came all the apparent abominations that transgressed Gods laws, so we can sort of rule out the notion of it being a religious system (although i would agree that false religions are involved), I really would say Jerusalem since Israel and Judah played the harlot, and it was spiritually called Egypt and Sodom, so what would that mean????
A place of bondage? Spiritual bondage maybe? Perhaps, there is also maybe a hint from revelations where Jesus talks about the people who claim to be Jewish but instead are of the synagoge of Satan, since if we look at the history of Jerusalem, there has been much exposure to multiple religions including islam, the knights templar whose ambitions were probably not to spread christianity (there have been some claims that the holy crusade was merely for monetary gain since jerusalem had apparently large gold reserves at the time), and for a while there was no definite religion until zionism later in the 19th to 20th centuries, something about the abomination of desolation, and more.
