I think we agree that the law can point out our need for Christ as Paul mentioned to the Galatians, but I think where we might not agree in our beliefs is that the law can also be beneficial after we are born again for correction, and instructions in righteousness, both the old and new together confirming this, for there is only one unchanging God and Lord. Malachi and Hebrews. Would you not agree that our Savior gave the law to Israel via Moses? Colossians chapter 1
you who have received the law that was given through angels but have not obeyed it Acts 7:53, but a minor point!

The law remains within you on your heart and mind throughout your Christian life and convicts you of sin when you err.

We must never determine that the law is a bad thing and an adversary of grace and faith. All of those things (in truth) come from the One and only truth, for Jesus said He is the TRUTH.
1 Corinthians 15:56
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.

If Jesus created all things as Colossians chapter 1 says, He is also the same One that gave Moses the law.
He sure did give Moses the law to give as a curse to those who would not submit to Him through faith (only God can keep the law or those with the Spirit of God ( The Holy Spirit, the LORD the giver of life) in them. Moses received the law while the children of Israel led by Aaron were forging a golden calf and worshiping it, just like their children observe the ordinances given to them today. They are unwilling to submit to Christ and His perfect law of faith working by love but Moses lived by faith not law keeping get that straight.

Amos 5:25

Have ye offered unto me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?

For our aim is not to obey the Law but to be pleasing to Him :)
I present a conundrum by invoking the above statement. If one does not obey this following law they cannot please God. If one is pleasing God they are obeying this Torah/law. Both Old and New Testaments concur one with another without separation. It is impossible to separate this spiritual truth.

"Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked." Deuteronomy 10:6

Circumcision was the confirmation of the covenant with Abraham and his seed.

"This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised." Genesis 17:10

"Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;" Ephesians 2:11

"In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:" Colossians 2:11

"And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise." Galatians 3:29

Circumcising the foreskin of the heart is New Testamant doctrine and also first endorsed by the Torah give to Moses. How Ironic.

Ya can't have one, ya can't have none. ya can't have one without the other. Lyrics to a song from my childhood. :)

yahweh never 'promoted' sabbath observance. neither did yahshua, nor yahshua's apostles or disciples.

his word tells it like it is. no promotion. no defending.

and since there's a famine "of the hearing"......

so go figure out first how to hear, then listen.....

IF yahweh permits...... he may very well not....

I agree that the works of the law minus faith means nothing, but I also believe they work together as one in the faithful believer just as God is One with Christ.

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" 2 Timothy 3:16

As I mentioned before, the only scripture available before the New Testamnt scripture was available in writing was what we know as the Old Testamant. Here, obviously Timothy, Paul being his mentor, is referring to what scripture was in print or writing at that time. That is the Old Testament as we know including the law given to Moses. I think he makes it clear about ALL scripture.

Where's the love? LOL

Leviticus 19:18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the Lord.

Matthew 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Exactly :)

Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.

That's good.

I study both equally. Just because I talk about the Law here so much doesn't mean that it's all I study.
But you are here in this thread promoting sabbath observance no?
Yes. Would you rather I post in this thread EVERYTHING I study?
In in a post that's titled "Sabbath", I'm going to talk about the things I've learned about the Sabbath.

I don't understand what point you're trying to make.

So you acknowledge that the law in Leviticus as not opposed to the teachings of Jesus?

Ok so just for a quick referene. Yeshua Himself the sabbath was made for man, man was not made for the sabbath. So if it was made for man why would we not observe a day that was made for us? We were given this day as a day of rest, and their is nothing wrong with observing it.

And before someone goes into the pretext of what is said before that verse, yes I know the pharisees snapped at Yeshua and the disciples for collecting grain on to eat on sabbath. Yeshua's reply is stating just because it's sabbath, does not mean you have to fast or starve. If it's sabbath and you're hungry go make yourself some food.

But anyway again. Yeshua said it was a day made for man. That is one of the main reasons I observe sabbath, G-d made it a day of rest for me, you, and everyone else. :)

Man was also created before the first Sabbath so both God and Man could enjoy it together.

And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. Genesis 2:2

Hebrews 4:4-10
[SUP]4 [/SUP]For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
[SUP]7 [/SUP]Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

Is it just me or is there someone else who thinks that, after 148 pages, neither side is going to accept the other's view and that we should all turn our attention to doing something more productive?

you will find very few people are convinced in threads because you will see the same people discussing the same topics and with the same arguments and still unconvinced but there is nothing wrong with discussing things.
BTW thanks for making the 737 post.:)

Well yes, seed_time, it's a bit of good, clean fun, I suppose. Keeps people off the streets. Let's let them keep banging on.

Oh, thank you! 737. 7,3,7. It's a lovely set of numbers!

I pray that you will have a fruitful and worshipful Sabbath. I hope that you will do the same for those who will be worshiping Christ on Sunday.
