Romans 1:17
[SUP]17 [/SUP] For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith."

We are to live by Faith, not by our Works.
Faith is a work, 1 Thess 1:3; Mk 2:1-5. Faith is dead if it is not a work.

1) How many hungry people can a dead faith only without works feed? None
2) How man lost people can a dead faith only without works save? None.

Now why is it some will agree with #1 that a dead faith only does nothing/not feed but will disagree with #2 that the same dead faith only does nothing/not save?

Yeah. . .like becoming a runner, having never ever run, and still being a runner anyway.
One does not become a runner until he runs as one is not a slave to righteousness until he does righteousness.

How sad that Christians cannot even agree on the means of salvation.

What a pity the message could not have been made clear and unambiguous.

It only means that everyone who calls themselves a Christian is not a Christian for contradictions do not make one a Christian, but obeying the gospel of Christ does.

Not the ones that God gives and especially the one that only He can give. Grace is about a love that is greater than all your sins.

Your earthly philosophy is corrupted by sin and is unable to know Gods pure and holy gift of eternal life given without expectation of repayment.

The ones that God gives to Christ are the ones that have conditionally obeyed Christ (Heb 5:9) and their obedience to Christ in believing repenting confession and submitting to baptism did not earn them the free gift of eternal life.

The CULT of Fundamental easy believeism is alive and ugly. Satan has deceived the minds of many believers in Jesus. They think they can be saved and have their sins too. The error of all heresys is the person does not read the whole message of God's word. Just two verses to prove this, Jh.3:20-21 "For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God". On the other hand, we have those who teach an ugly false Perfectionism. Love to all, Hoffco

It is a "pity" BUT GOD did it that way, for a good reason, to deceive the mind of the NON ELECT, so the can not be saved. Love to all, Hoffco

He has confessed that he does not have the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. Do you believe that a man abiding in darkness has the truth?

By human perceptions free gifts have conditions. God is not limited in His ability to give without conditions. Gods love and grace is manifested in His giving to the undeserving and giving without expectation of consideration.

Perhaps you need to discover what is the nature and person of God and view how His grace is completely consistent with Gods nature and virtue.

What about a person who is in a burning building. He see's no way out, he is trapped in the building and he knows he will die. This person remembers what his Grandmother told him that Jesus Christ is God and he accepts Jesus Christ into his heart and believes Jesus Christ is God and confesses with his mouth that Jesus Christ is God. Then he dies in the flames.

Has this person received Salvation and will he enter into Heaven? Or will this person be cast into the Lake of Fire because he was not Baptized?

What do you say SeaBass?
Lucky guy. Guess all should be so lucky to live a wicked life of sin doing whatever they please and rejecting God only to ''get saved'' a few seconds before death by believing. Lets just get rid of our bibles and wait till we are moments from death. The Ken Allan gospel.

Jn 3:21 "But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God."
Mt 7:21 "
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven."

Doeth is a word that does not sit well with faith only advocates. And 'doeth' is present tense, not a one time action but a continuous one.

Many people on this forum 'claim' to have a personal indwelling of the Holy Spirit but look how they all contradict each other. Is the Holy Spirit a spirit of contradictions and confusion?

If I make a little change to KenAllan's post I get:

What about an atheist who is in a burning building. He see's no way out, he is trapped in the building and he knows he will die. This person begins to think there is a "Higher Power" and a life after death but dies in the flames not knowing who or what to believe in. He would have come to believe in God if he only had the time and opportunity , so will he be saved anyway in his unbelief?

Sorry, I will not waste my time talking to those who detract or add to the Bible. BUT, I will share God's word. 1Tim.4:16 "Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine, Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you." Love to all, Hoffco

The Lord said there will be many in that day who claimed to know Him but they did not and He told them to depart. Their departure was into the outer darkness.

In any case it matter not what others do only what you do with Christ. You are not responsible for them only yourself just as I am responsible for myself to God. To know and to be known of God requires the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Mt 7:21 those that DOETH the will of the Father enter the kingdom meaning those that DOETH NOT the will of the Father will not enter the kingdom...no doing=not entering the kingdom.
Salvation by works is not the will of the Father. Those who refuse to "believe in Him" DOTH NOT the will of the Father regardless of what else they do, as we saw in Matthew 7:22-23.

Jn 6:40 does not say the Father's will is to 'believe only".
So what else did Jesus "add" to "believes in Him" in John 6:40? I didn't see a list of "additional requirements" mentioned by Jesus that must be accomplished "after" one believes in Him in order to receive eternal life.

Adding the phrase "believe only" to the verse would contradict the verses where Jesus made repentance, confession and baptism of equal importance and necessity to salvation.
Not at all because repentance "precedes" believes in Him. Repent - change of mind - new direction of this change of mind - believes in Him. Repentance and faith are inseparable in receiving salvation. Two sides to the same coin. Confessing with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believing in our heart that God raised Him from the dead are not two separate steps to salvation but are chronologically together (Romans 10:9-10). Water baptism FOLLOWS believes in Him/receive the gift of the Holy Spirit/salvation (Acts 10:43-47). No contradiction, just your continued confusion.

Secondly, belief is a work per Jesus own words in Jn 6:27-29.
You seem determined to label belief as just another work in a series of works so that you can somehow justify teaching that salvation is by works. Jesus was simply answering a question from verse 28. This is the work of God/what God requires, that you BELIEVE IN HIM. Jesus did all the work that merits our salvation. We can add nothing to what Jesus did. His finished work of redemption is sufficient and complete to save. Believe and receive. No supplements needed.

Very simple question: can one be saved who does not repent?
(A simple 'yes' or 'no' will suffice.)
No, because if we one does not repent then they will not believe the gospel.

You locate the problem in the wrong place.

It's not in the message, it's in the hearer.

Please don't cause me to have pity on ignorance.

Some here are saying
God will save, perfect, sanctify those that deny Him

Only in your darkened mind...
There are those here who are saying one can be saved by BELIEF ONLY that is, one can be saved WITHOUT confessing and
if one does not profess Christ he is denying Christ. SO when you struggle to get one saved/perfected/sanctified BEFORE doing the work of confessing, then you are saying God will save/perfect/sanctify those they deny Christ.
Only in your failure to understand language that non-profession does not equate to denying.

It is a straw man telling lies when I have shown from Rom 10:3 over and over that one
doing his
OWN righteousness does not save but submitting/obeying GOD'S will is what saves. . .
you have no other valid argument
.
Like a distinction without a difference is a valid argument. . .
there is a clear difference between doing one's OWN righteousness and one doing GOD'S righteousness.
Not when it comes to who's doing it. . .which is the gospel issue.

It's a distinction without a difference.
