They excuse their own sin. They do not know the law.

They claim we love sin, When in fact is is them, Because if they knew the law. they would know and understand no amount of obedience or work could ever save them from themselves and their sin. They could only see the righteous judgment of God.
No doubt......cannot save us, keep us saved buy our salvation etc......

One is lost in sin/disobedience until he obeys. Saul was lost in his sins until he obeyed by submitting to baptism to have his sins washed away. He remained in his sins until he was baptized.
No

Saul was saved the moment he trusted God. God washed his sin, Not some man in water..

Stop replacing the work of God with the work of men.

It does not.

Those who have true salvation WILL WORK.

Where does the bible say that those who are born of God will NEVER work?

so your saying you are perfect and do not sin??

or your trying to excuse your sin by saying it was not willfull. Which is it?
No I am not saying I do not sin, but do I have remorse, feel convicted, and then repent after I mess up here and there....YES.

That is the difference I have been talking about, if you say you have been saved, but still sin regularly without feeling remorse, being convicted, and repenting for it you are not truly sorry for what you did. Therefore you are serving satan and Jesus makes it clear you can not serve both.

And to take your twist to the fullest extent here...WHY do we need Jesus if the above bolded are ties to salvation...

1. Save thyself
2. Seeing you have purified your souls
3. Work out your own salvation
4. Purge himself

If I take your line of thought then I don't need Jesus, the H.S. and or the word of God......
One could not those things WITHOUT Jesus' death burial and resurrection.

No,

If I stayed where I was I would still be like you.

Trying to save myself

Afraid of losing my salvation if I am not good enough

Trying to hard not to sin, instead of trying so hard to see where God wants me to serve.

Again, You do not even know where you are.
I'm not going to even respond to that. I have better things to deal with than to get involved in childish games with you.

Here again is a good example of your confusion. What Christ did and accomplished for man has nothing to do with what this discussion is all about. Christ saved you and the entire world from death and sin. He did this so you could be freely united with Him in a personal relationship. Christ did not save you to a relationship, but saved you so you could have a relationship.
We as individuals are NOT being saved by Christ, but are being saved through our faith. because He freed us from the bondage to death and sin.
This is a clear example of how an apostate couches the truth in error. This is the kind Paul warned Timothy about. The kind Jesus said they won't enter and will not allow others to enter. Very religious but lost.

If one has faith it comes from hearing the word of God. Rom 10:17

What works must a man do to be saved? Do you have a list of approved works that confirm of deny salvation? Can any man do these works?

For the cause of Christ
Roger
Yes, it is all summed up in the Great Commandment.
Paul sums it up also in I Cor 13:13, Love
Also Matt 5:28 sets the standard.

No doubt......cannot save us, keep us saved buy our salvation etc......

He who begun a good work in you WILL COMPLETE it until the day of Christ. Phil 1: 6

They do not have faith in the power of God to do what he claims he will do. They are still trusting self. Thats why they refuse to see it. They refuse to acknowledge the power of God

Again you twist what James teaches so as to make salvation tied to works......

SO...why does Jesus cast the people who are bragging on their works into the lake of fire??????

He doesn't say they did no works....but rather that HE NEVER KNEW THEM......

They like you put your eternal salvation (TO) works instead of plain childlike faith.....
Heb 5:9 those that obey Christ are saved, not cast into a lake of fire.

Ok.

So did that guy lose salvation. or never have it, HUGE difference?

If he lost salvation. God lied did he not. God failed to continue to do the work in that person. He went back on his own promise of eternal life.

Again, Does God not know if our faith and repentance is real before he gives us his gift in the first place?

This is not a contradiction, because nowhere did I say you had to earn it. You can however lose it, there is a big difference.

You just contradicted yourself.

I can not earn it to get it But If I do not earn it, I can not keep it.

It is the same as saying I must earn it to get it.

God did not give me a downpayment to keep as long as I am good,, He gave me a gift.

Does it make YOU fell better that what you posted makes works essential to being saved?
Did you read my other post (222) in response to your post(195)?

Your missing the bigger point Sea Perch....

Salvation/justification is based upon faith apart from works as Christ DID THE WORK and all we have to do is believe...

Sanctification of our physical lives is an ongoing process by submitting to the word of God and being a true disciple of Jesus....you blend the two and hence preach heresy!

Please consider the context of the verses you cite. Neither passage in any way relates to the contention that we must do anything except believe the gospel to be saved.

For the cause of Christ
Roger
Maybe you need to read the scriptures again, because they are pretty simple and pretty clear. If you do not obey the Gospel, you will be lost.

No one has argued one can earn salvation, so that is a non-issue.

If works have nothing at all to do with salvation, that means a person can do any kind of works he wants to in order to become a Christian. Can one become a Christian by doing evil, wicked sinful works? According to this thread he can.

It also means a Christian, instead of doing good works, can do evil, sinful, wicked works and still maintain his salvation since works have NOTHING at all to do with salvation.

SO, which is it SEA PERCH.......WORKS or NO WORKS FOR SALVATION?

NO ONE CAN EARN SALVATION or YOU HAVE TO DO WORKS FOR SALVATION?

MR. TWISTY SEA PERCH.....WHICH IS IT as you seem to contradict yourself.......
See my post #231 that shows free gifts come with condtions and meeting those conditions cannot earn that free gift.

I do not think you understand

Saying you can LOSE IT, is the same thing as saying you have to EARN IT.

It is like me saying i gave you a gift. (something which you did not earn) and saying if you do not do this (whatever this may be) you can lose it.

I am in fact saying you have to earn it.
