I already know mailman Dans views and yours, but he or you are not the Holy Spirit who expressly said many shall depart from the faith in the latter times. Confirmed by Jesus, and the apostles by multitudes of scripture which I posted already. Here is another one you guys try to explain away through your "filter" as you also do with many other scriptures in order to uphold your false doctrine->>>>>>

Hebrews 6:4-8 “For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,[SUP]5 [/SUP]And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,[SUP]6 [/SUP]If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

[SUP]7 [/SUP]For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God:[SUP]8 [/SUP]But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.”

And of course the scriptures are true, but how can you have your name blotted out of a book in which your never had your name in to begin with? God's book of Life is not a book of the dead.
Context, context, context

Departing from the faith is not relying in Christ and in His finished work for salvation and trying to establish our own D.I.Y self-righteousness/holiness

Hebrews 6 is a beautiful chapter on the grace of God.....I love that chapter...

Heb 6:4-8 talks about those that reject Jesus sacrifice..then in verse 9 it talks about us believers..

Hebrews 6:9 (NASB)
[SUP]9[/SUP] But,beloved, we are convinced of better things concerning you, and things that accompany salvation, though we are speaking in this way.

Here the author of Hebrews is speaking to the "Beloved"..that is us Christians that have accepted Jesus as our sacrifice...and he talks about "things that accompany salvation"

He wanted them to know that the verses 4-8 was not for them..which is why he said.."..though we are speaking in this way."

He didn't want them to put themselves - the true believers in that category.

Hebrews 6 is a beautiful chapter about the love and grace of Christ for us believers...not so good for those depending on the temple system.

Here is a great teaching on Hebrews 6

I am not going to have a Bible discussion with those who constantly look for excuses to deny what is plainly written in the Bible in order to uphold their false doctrines.

To deny the words of God as true is to also deny Jesus Christ. You have been warned, Bye, Bye! :)

I love it why folks like i.s.i.t. just pluck out verses to make their points. I used to point out context, but few ever listened.

they are too busy using the Bible to make theology rather than using the Bible FOR theology.

some folks need a little lesson in love and humility, me thinks. now, I think a long time ago someone said something about he who exalts himself will be humbled and he who humbles himself will be exalted. now let's see, who said that????????????

I agree...context, context , context will put an end to a lot of foolish doctrines.

Context is everything...we can "string" a whole bunch of scriptures together and make them say whatever we want. If we don't filter all scripture through the finished work of Christ we are going to end up in a complete mess.

When the scriptures are given in context - then people resort to accusing you are denying the word of God and Jesus.......why can't we be at least honest and just say - I don't believe the scriptures are saying that. Here's what I believe the scriptures say and let it be.

Listen to this guy " to deny what is plainly written in the Bible in order to uphold their false doctrines" which is exactly what he does. He reads scripture and does the very thing that he is claiming by ignoring what is written and instead he applies a spiritual meaning. As he has claimed, everlasting punishment in everlasting fire doesn't mean that.

Then take your own advice. :)

I'm not the one coming on here picking out every verse the Bible has on judgement and hell, which are both real and true, and acting like that is God's only words.

For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Sure hope you can overcome your condition. :)

many will depart from the faith, and many have departed from the faith.

Those who depart from the faith are those who deny that Jesus is Lord, and that God raised him from the dead.

Both you and Grace777x70 have not departed from the faith, because you both proclaim that Jesus is Lord and Savior. And you both believe that God raised him from the dead.

You have a position which states obedience to the Torah is evidence of salvation, while Grace777x70 believes that love for one another is evidence of salvation. You keep the Torah to the best of your ability as an expression of faith to our Lord, while Grace777x70 attempts to love perfectly as Jesus loved as an expression of faith to our Lord. You do so by the Holy Spirit and Grace777x70 also does so by the Holy Spirit. The contention arises when you want to make Grace777x70 belief as you believe and He wants to convince you to believe as he believes.

What you both must understand is God has saved you both despite your disagreements. Just as he has saved all those who have called on the name of Jesus Christ. You fail in your attempt to follow the Torah and Grace777x70 fails to love perfectly, and we all fail in some way or another, but God forgives us because he loves us and our intercessor is Jesus Christ. If God is for us who can be against us?

Just a thought given in love. Peace be with all who call Jesus Lord.

1 Timothy 4:1-2 “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;[SUP]2 [/SUP]Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;”

Paul is speaking of the falling away from the faith here, and how seducing spirits and doctrines of devils would draw many away from the true gospel message, and preach a message of peace and safety, even a message of eternal security for the wicked and ongoing sinners as we see today.

Let’s explore this seduction by a few verses of scripture.

It is written in Proverbs 12:26 “The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.”

In Ezekiel chapter 13 the Lord is speaking to the false prophets, the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit.

Notice what the Lords says in Ezekiel 13:10Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and one built up a wall, and, lo, others daubed it with untempered morter:” This wall of false doctrine and a false sense of security the Lord said he would bring down with His wrath.

Jesus also warned of many false prophets to come, who also would seduce here in Mark 13:22 “For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.”

And another warning from Paul in 2 Timothy 3:13But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.”

In 1 John 2:26 John was warning the disciples of Jesus Christ against seducers who were not walking in the Way and the Truth of the gospel. John said in verse 26[SUP][/SUP]These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.”

If you back up to the beginning of the chapter and see what John had written, you would see the warnings that we also should take heed to today as well. One of the first warnings Johns writes is in the first verse is “My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not.”

And this is the main theme of the warnings in Johns letter about those who were trying to seduce them with false doctrine.

John goes on to say in 1 John 2:3-7 “And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.[SUP]4 [/SUP]He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.[SUP]5 [/SUP]But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.[SUP]7 [/SUP]Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.”

Jesus Christ is the Word that was heard from the beginning; believe on the words the Father gave to His Son as a commandment, and do what He says for you to do, this is the will of the Father, that you keep His commandments.

And be not deceived by those who preach a false sense of security in a life of ongoing sin, for the warnings are very clear. 1 Thessalonians 5:3“For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.”
Highlighted that way shows how you are comparing better

Grace777x70 actually promotes ignoring some of the words of Jesus in accordance with his hyper grace beliefs. Specifically, those times in which Jesus said that we must forgive to be forgiven. So the issue is not as simple as you described it.

There is more than one way to deny the LORD, some deny Jesus Christ by denying his words, some in works.

o.k. then. have fun doing what you say you are not. what your style does do is drive folks away from Christ in droves. using the Bible as a hammer is not helpful to anyone. speak the truth IN LOVE. try it sometimes.
Will a Mister Rogers disclaimer in future thread titles help you to not visit the threads and have to experience their torment?

How exactly do you speak that truth more loving? It is loving to warn people. It's not loving to leave the verses out.
If it drives people away, that's no sign that it's not good. When Jesus preached they all went away. He asked the 12 if they didn't want to go too. Some tried to stone Him. It was too hard what He said.
