There is no such thing as "dying to yourself daily". Paul was talking about being in peril and danger from spreading the gospel when he said "I die daily". Religion has hi-jacked that phrase and turned it into something else then what Paul said.
The truth is that we have already died with Christ on the cross and that we are now raised to new life in Christ and alive to God because we are one with Him.
We need our minds renewed to the truth of the gospel and in doing so we will be transformed by the power of God in our lives.
If we would just preach the real gospel a lot of this religious nonsense could be put away so that we could follow the Holy Spirit in our lives.
Most times we are confusing taking up our cross daily with what Paul said when he said "I die daily".
Taking up our cross is identifying that we too died on the cross with Jesus and are now raised to new life in Him and our real life is in Him - so we follow the Holy Spirit in our lives now - knowing we are living onto Him now as we follow Christ in us.

I see nothing about the Holy Spirt there, (only a misquoting of me,) but rather I gathered this spirit from you...

Elisha pursued the annointing. He WOULD NOT leave the side of Elijah.
That type is for today. The cross without the resurrection has produced a vile religious nastiness in Christians.

Uh,no, they were COMMANDED to wait FOR THE POWER.
For some reason,Jesus did not see the imperative to skip that step.

People don't realize that in seeking power you are attempting to extend God's heart to the world and those around you. A seeking of power is for the intent of edification. It isn't selfish, though it is cool to be used by God (haha), but it is for others to see the love of God. To see the Lord. To give hope. It is only sourced in love, and how else does one receive such unless they spend time in His presence?
