I like Indian's idea of giving because they gave in order for people to use it to live not with the concept of ownership but the world view of stewardship for the future generation. the idea is that you didn't take it back but you need the use so you used it and when someone else needed to use the same thing then they were given it for just asking with the underlying understanding that when they were in need it would be provided. it is not their fault that Europeans came in with the mentality, "its mine, because I deserve it and you are foolish enough to give it to me freely, therefore what is yours is mine and what is mine is mine"

sorry off topic but anyways

There's alot of speculation about the term 'Indian Giving'. It would be probably best to leave it alone and use something else to describe what is meant by the term. In any case, 'eternally-grateful' should not be condemned for using that term as he has, because he probably meant the meaning of the term and not the ones behind it.

Exactly. I scarcely think that there's many of us Canucks that don't have some North American Indian blood running thru our veins. I know for certain that I do. Gots me some French and Scottish too :D None of it matters because I know EG is not an ill intended person in any regards whatsoever. He belongs to Christ :)

No offence to any of the indians that never practiced taking back what they had given over.
Neither does got take back anything from us. EG doesnt even understand the concept of turning away. I dont blame him for not believing it. But his attacks on those that do know and understand the truth. That is what is unacceptable,

I think you should do a couple of things 4runner.

1. Be honest before God, and understand how wicked it is to accuse anyone who doesnt believe they will
attain perfection
Abiding, this disappoints me. What is it that I accuse people of?
because first it has never happened, second scripture wont back it up in fact quite the opposite
Scripture does support it, and I have given many scripture to prove as much
third, your not,.
Never saisd I would, but I get better every day, and I believe God is able to perfect me.

Abiding, I will ask one questiuon and it is a YES or NO, answer question... Can your God make a man like me perfect here on earth, by any means? Just say Yes or no! please do not complicate the answer, and to make it less complicated... CAN YOUR GOD MAKE ME AS PERFECT AS HIMSELF RIGHT NOW IF HE WANTS TOO? YES OR NO! Your only choice!
YES...............

Asking a question that says.............Can/God .........is an oxymoron.

I dont dance for a living :)
You really should have answered the question. I think the problem is you know the answer, but have been arguing against the truth for so long, you cant really say yes can you.

This is the point of this whole thread. Can God perfect His people in this life? Yes or No.

If yes then why do you kick against the pricks?

If No then.......................?

Apostasy from Christ is the same thing as abandonment from marriage.

Is the husband of a woman that has left him for another man an ''Indian giver'' (as EG puts it)? No he is not, and neither is God.

If you have been saved, cleansed and justified by the blood of Christ, you are already positionally perfect before the Father. If you were not make perfect positionally, when you believed upon the Son and placed in Christ, you would not have been accepted by the Father. YES...you are perfect and complete positionally and God is working in you to become experientially what He has already made you to be in your positional standing before Him. If that is too difficult for you to understand then meditate on this truth of the finished work that was proclaimed at the cross in (Jn 19:30).

Col 2:10a And ye are complete (perfect) in him...

Eph 1:6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

Phil 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform [it] until the day of Jesus Christ:

Col 3:3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

Rom 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

Rom 4:23-25 Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; 24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; 25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

Rom 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

THIS NEXT VERSE IS ONE OF THE MOST GLORIOUS TRUTHS THAT WE CAN BE THANKFUL FOR AND HAVE AVAILABLE TO US IN EVERY SITUATION...

Rom 5:2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

*When we fall we fall into the grace wherein we stand, and it is through that grace that God is able to make us stand.

Rom 14:4 Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

This is for all those that foolishly presume against the nature of God, the cross of Christ's finished work and the grace of God, who ignorantly preach that a believer can lose his standing with God and forfeit salvation that was given to him by grace through faith. Some that teach this terrible error are no longer on this site and thank God they are no longer among us.

There are others that are still here that need to repent from their error and sin against the Lord Jesus Christ and their condemnation of others that have been sealed by the Holy Spirit and have been given an eternal imputed gift of God's righteousness when thy believed. This can not be 'un-imputed' or taken back by an immutable God who gave it. Presuming that imputed righteousness can be forfeited is to accuse God of sin Himself, by not knowing what He was doing in the first place when He gave it to those who believed upon His Son by promise, through His death, burial and resurrection.
...amen...

The Heresy of Perfectionism

from R.C. Sproul Mar 14, 2011 Category: R.C. Sproul

An ancient heresy of the distinction between two types of Christians, carnal and Spirit-filled, is the heresy of perfectionism. Perfectionism teaches that there is a class of Christians who achieve moral perfection in this life. To be sure, credit is given to the Holy Spirit as the agent who brings total victory over sin to the Christian. But there is a kind of elitism in perfectionism, a feeling that those who have achieved perfection are somehow greater than other Christians. The “perfect” ones do not officially—take credit for their state, but smugness and pride have a way of creeping in.

The peril of perfectionism is that it seriously distorts the human mind. Imagine the contortions through which we must put ourselves to delude us into thinking that we have in fact achieved a state of sinlessness.

Inevitably the error of perfectionism breeds one, or usually two, deadly delusions. To convince ourselves that we have achieved sinlessness, we must either suffer from a radical overestimation of our moral performance or we must seriously underestimate the requirements of God’s law. The irony of perfectionism is this: Though it seeks to distance itself from antinomianism, it relentlessly and inevitably comes full circle to the same error.

To believe that we are sinless we must annul the standards of God’s Law. We must reduce the level of divine righteousness to the level of our own performance. We must lie to ourselves both about the Law of God and about our own obedience. To do that requires that we quench the Spirit when He seeks to convict us of sin. Persons who do that are not so much Spirit-filled as they are Spirit-quenchers.

One of the true marks of our ongoing sanctification is the growing awareness of how far short we fall of reaching perfection. Perfectionism is really antiperfectionism in disguise. If we think we are becoming perfect, then we are far from becoming perfect.

I once encountered a young man who had been a Christian for about a year. He boldly declared to me that he had received the “second blessing” and was now enjoying a life of victory, a life of sinless perfection. I immediately turned his attention to Paul’s teaching on Romans 7. Romans 7 is the biblical death blow to every doctrine of perfectionism. My young friend quickly replied with the classic agreement of the perfectionist heresy, namely, that in Romans 7 Paul is describing his former unconverted state.

I explained to the young man that it is exegetically impossible to dismiss Romans 7 as the expression of Paul’s former life. We examined the passage closely and the man finally agreed that indeed Paul was writing in the present tense. His next response was, “Well, maybe Paul Was speaking of his present experience, but he just hadn’t received the second blessing yet.”

I had a difficult time concealing my astonishment at this spiritual arrogance. I asked him pointedly, “You mean that You, at age nineteen, after one year of Christian faith, have achieved a higher level of obedience to God than the apostle Paul enjoyed when he was writing the Epistle to the Romans?”
To my everlasting shock the young man replied without flinching, “Yes!” Such is the extent to which persons will delude themselves into thinking that they have achieved sinlessness.

I spoke once with a woman who claimed the same “second blessing” of perfectionism who qualified her claim a bit. She said that she was fully sanctified into holiness so that she never committed any willful sins. But she acknowledged that occasionally she still committed sins, though never willfully. Her present sins were unwillful.

What in the world is an unwillful sin? All sin involves the exercise of the will. If an action happens apart from the will it is not a moral action. The involuntary beating of my heart is not a moral action. All sin is willful. Indeed, the corrupt inclination of the will is of the very essence of sin. There is no sin without the willing of sin. The woman was excusing her own sin by denying that she had willed to commit the sin. The sin just sort of “happened.” It was the oldest self-justification known to man: “I didn’t mean to do it!”

In one strand of the Wesleyan tradition there is another type of qualified perfectionism. Here the achievement of perfection is limited to a perfected love. We may continue to struggle with certain moral weaknesses, but at least we can receive the blessing of a perfected love. But think on this a moment. If we received the blessing of a love that was absolutely perfect, how then would we ever commit any kind of sin? If I ever loved God perfectly, I would will only obedience to Him. How could a creature who loved God perfectly ever sin against Him at all?

Someone might answer: “We could still sin against Him in ignorance.” But the perfect love with which we are called to love God is a perfect love of our minds as well as our hearts. If we perfectly loved God with all of our minds, from whence could this ignorance flow? One who loves God perfectly with the mind is perfectly diligent in studying and mastering the Word of God. The perfectly loving mind perceives correctly the light into our paths. A perfectly loving mind doesn’t make errors in understanding Scripture.

But could we not still make mistakes because our minds are less than perfect? I ask why our minds are less than perfect. It is not because we lack brains or the faculty of thinking. Our thinking is clouded because our hearts are clouded. Take away the cloud from our hearts and our minds are illumined by the clear light of God.

A perfect love would yield perfect obedience. The only perfected love this world has ever seen was the love of Christ, who exhibited perfect obedience. Jesus loved the Father perfectly. He sinned not at all, either willfully or in ignorance.

Pray for the Native Americans, that they will forsake their false gods, worshipping of the creature more than the Creator. Pray for them, that the Lord Jesus will reveal himself to them and they will come to the saving knowledge and put their trust in the Lord and dedicate their entire lives to serving the one true and mighty God, holy, righteous, eternal, immortal, our King, the only King. Pray for them please

THE NEW APOSTLES [and perfectionism]

.....There is a great push these days to make us believe that the literal rapture, into the clouds, is an unbiblical teaching, and I suspect that this push originates in the Illuminatists/Freemasons (secretly) among us. Instead of the mortal becoming immortal thanks be to a rapture at the Appearance of Christ, Latter-Rain "prophets" are claiming that God's people will be transformed while still on earth, gradually taking on powerful, amazing bodies in order to empower the revival and conversion of the world. Paul Cain of the Kansas-City prophets expects us to be walking through walls soon, etc., apart from the rapture! This is the "Manifest Sons of God" doctrine currently promoted not only by his group of wayward seers, but by several con-artist tele-evangelists. The idea being passed off is that we are supposed to be achieving a spiritual-godhood condition as of now. Christians who disagree or do not conform are even now being accused of being anti-Holy-Spirit and, of course, the anti-Christ! But did you know that "Manifest Sons" is a phrase found in Rosicrucianism?

Upon studying the spirituality of Rosicrucianism, you will find that they apply a spiritual alchemy. Alchemy was at first the Rosicrucian quest to turn common metals into gold (note that recently the Latter-Rain charismatic leaders began claiming that silver fillings in teeth were turned to gold by God!!!) When the chemical process proved to be impossible, the Rosicrucians, to save face, claimed that their true alchemy was a "chemical process" of the soul in which it undergoes a transformation from the common state to "pure gold," as it were, until the inner being achieves a God-like condition. The Latter-Rain charismatics are teaching the very same! But the Bible teaches that we will not be so changed until the rapture in the clouds (see 1 Corinthians 15). And the apostle John said:

"Beloved, we are now children of God, and what we shall be has not yet been manifested. We know that when [Jesus] is manifested, we shall be[come] like him. And everyone having this hope purifies himself..." (1 John 3:2-3)
There is a big difference between purifying ourselves from worldly norms while we wait patiently for Jesus to transform us suddenly at His appearance, and becoming slowly like little gods while we transform the world to Christ apart from His appearance.

The reality is that demons act in Latter-Rain groups while posing as the Holy Spirit. Those who have left the straight way of Christ--apostates--are the mediums through which the demons act to give the impression that Manifest-Sons revival is under way. In the meantime, demons attempt to pollute, confuse, and deceive the Elect. Among the "great evangelists" through whom this terrible work has occurred was William Branham (mid-20th century). The fabulously wealthy Morris Cerullo is an example of one still alive.

It is noteworthy that the miracle-working Branham and, a half-century earlier, the "father of healing revivalism in America," John Dowie, had both accepted the title of "Elijah" for themselves. Dowie claimed, as any typical cult of the time had, that his movement was the restoration of the Apostles, of which he was the first in modern times. Branham went further and proclaimed himself an angel in the Book of Revelation!

The New Apostles

~

it appears the author holds to a future millennial view which i do not.
the link is provided to inform of the cults of the New Apostles.
in my opinion, this is the greatest problem we are facing in the church today.

i am reading reports everywhere of new church gov't systems being forced into place in some denominations (i.e: Calvary Chapel denominations)

the deacons and pastor-teachers are being forced out.

the only solution to this problem is to understand that God is NOT sending new prophets and apostles.
if you're facing this in your church, you're going to be asked to sign an oath of loyalty to the new leadership.

The only solution to the problem of a few nut cases that think rather than being raptured they are just going to become immortal is to deny 2 of the 5 ministerial offices God has set up?????

Talk about hysteria????

you avoid the question because if you answer it honestly, you would have to admit your error.

And people accuse me of pride...smh
