If you want a quick look, read or reread Zechariah.........This Book says so much in such a short space. The reference is in other places, but Ezekiel elaborates on this also, but I reserve any discussing of Ezekiel for those who are gifted with God's wisdom on the subject. I am not, so, like Mary would do when she did not quite grasp something her Son said or did, I keep it to myself, in my heart until God says I should know more.

How will the nations serve? (Honest question, since I see most serving themselves.)

I keep seeing people say that others are telling people to obey the law rather than to follow Jesus. I can't figure out where that's coming from. Each person that I've seen address aspects of the law have taken it further than fleshy ordinances. Paul knew that there was more to it than just the natural motions.

I'm having a little trouble understanding where the contention is coming from. Sometimes it's seems that no reply will be considered sufficient for some.

Paul called the scriptures HOLY. He told Timothy to continue in them. He most certainly didn't tell Timothy to disregard any part of the written word, including the law.

2 Timothy 3:14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
2 Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

In the above statement to Timothy, Paul included, "knowing of whom thou hast learned them." In another passage Paul said, "If indeed you have been taught by HIM as the truth is in Christ." I have seen a lot of people say the same here on the forums while not excluding any part of the written word, Just as Paul didn't exclude any of it.

So where's all the contention coming from? I'm starting to picture people doing this: View attachment 137198
The situation is obvious.
As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife. Proverbs 26:1

But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God. 1 Corinthians 11:16

After the Embers have ignited the fuel, the flames burned and burned. This is the aftermath. Don't listen to insults. You are valuable to the Lord God Almighty. No matter what anyone tells you.
Scripture defines

A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike. Proverbs 27:15

Better title would have been Law Debacle Resumed.

or better yet.. maybe LAW DEBACLE WILL NOT BE RESOLVED UNTIL CHRIST RETURNS?

Which will be the most likely application

I wonder one thing. Jesus walked this earth, he gave authority to his deciples, he was an optimist, he said they would walk like him and know his redeeming authority and power.

You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you
John 15:3

By Jesus talking to the diciples was enough to make them clean. Do you understand information was enough, the relationship, the love the creator shared with His friends.

To walk in righteousness, holiness, purity, it was enough. A relationship was enough, no doubt, no wonder was He God.
After he rose, they knew. Their best friend. It is hard for us to empathise, but we talk about faith, they touched Him.

The question is are we worthy of the King of creation. When you look at your life how do you feel?

It depends whether we see ourselves outside Christ or IN Christ.

As Paul says, "For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out." Romans 7:18

and...

What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is infected by death?
(Rom 7:24)

or

But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
(Php 3:7-8)

So apart from Christ, no, we are not worthy. But in Christ we are...

To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
(Eph 1:6)

I think you will like it a lot. It is one of my favorite Books........of course,, they all ae, duhhh.

In case anyone readying is wondering........Isaiah when prophesying the future with our Lord refers to Jesus as sitting on the throne of David over His Kingdom. David may be translated as Beloved.....lots to consider.

Isa 9:7

Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Well, keep breathing then, because I can guarantee I'm NOT gifted in wisdom. lol I will take notice if Zech, when I get there. Thanks.

Be careful on counting on Josephus. He also said that there was a terrible plague in Egypt, so some barely-known guy name Moses brought out the survivors.

I think it's incredible that Josephus tried to tell the whole of the history without the resources we have today, but it also causes problems in what he did believe was history.
Yes, I'm aware of some of his inconsistencies. That's why I try to stick with his historical references that are actually supported in God's Word. In comparison to trusting writings of orthodox unbelieving Jews, I still put Josephus' work over most of their's.

People often do not see the Lords hand.
Elijah saw God move, yet he ran for his life.

I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.
1 Kings 19:10

Yet I reserve seven thousand in Israel—all whose knees have not bowed down to Baal and whose mouths have not kissed him.
1 Kings 19:18

We are called to be faithful. It is all to easy to think the understanding we have personally is the way when in reality it is just part of a whole so vast we cannot imagine the beauty of all.

The funny thing about life is most of it we have to do things, yet we always want to do something other.
We often want to find that key that others have not found not seeing there are many everywhere in the weakness following the Lord. We then project backwards in time and say so many missed x.

But the Lord is here today and asks you to follow him today, and do what you can to meet the needs of those around you.

Yeah, just missed verse 22 all together to prove-a-point, huh? I know you're feeling so proud of yourself right now. I hope you get over that.
Not proud at all. Is presumption normal for you?

and no verse 22 is right there also. and my point remains. you stated that you delight in the law of God. but and here it is you are a slave to the law of sin and need to be delivered.

I am simply pointing out what you said. Hoping that you will seek freedom from this wretched state. that freedom can be found in Jesus.

The question is are we worthy of the King of creation. When you look at your life how do you feel?
What I am trying to get at here is simply when you look at Jesus, what does your heart respond?

At the moment my heart responds disappointment. I feel disappointed that arguments are had where extreme things are said others are saying, which they are not, because it makes their position easier to defend.

There is a place often in the middle where the emphasis is needed. We have lost a desire for holiness, or even talking about it. No one I can read says we should be under the law, but as the apostles said we should obey the commands of Jesus.

We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands.
1 John 2:3

Now being under the concept of grace and freedom this idea seems alien. But when you put it together that a transformed heart means you actually go what the commands say. The problem is for most this testifies they are not that transformed, and their hearts are a long way from having purity, holiness, righteousness.

But does this not testify walking in the Lord is much greater and complex than you ever realised.
I can testify it is real and does work, it is just almost impossible, but possible with God. Do you trust Jesus?
