Sun worship was a characteristic of all pagan cultures, the “church fathers” saw the benefits of compromise with pagan worshippers as a handy evangelism tool.
Incorrect and irrelevant.

Mat_12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Your refusing to confess that Jesus rose on the third day.

1 Corinthians 15:3-4
For I handed down to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.

This is ground zero for any Christian.

You must confess that Jesus rose on the third day!

Confessing Jonas and a whale is not the confession.

I will ask you again to confess that Jesus rose on the third day!

The scripture calls the Lord God a sun!

Psalm 84:11
For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord gives grace and glory; He withholds no good thing from those who walk with integrity.

The word rest as referred to in scripture literally means Sabbath Keeping
We are to labor for six days and rest on the 7th day Sabbath.
Q: where did Sunday and Sunday worship come from?
Q: why are the Ten Commandments repeated throughout the NT?
Q: Why is the Sabbath mentioned and observed 60 times in the NT?
A simple fact.

The Roman empire worked seven days a week in the first century. Every country in the Roman empire worked seven days a week, except for Israel.

How do we know this is true?

Constantine the Roman Emperor, declared Sunday as a day of rest in 321 AD.

Therefore, no Roman citizen was able to rest on any day of the week, in the first 3 centuries.

That's a fact. Sabbath obedience outside of Israel was impossible.

The Sabbath is a day of rest, not defined as a day of worship.

Christians on the other hand, can attend church, i.e., break the bread, on any day of the week.

The Sabbath is mentioned often in the Gospels because it is a day of the week.

The Gospels are focused on Jesus in Israel, no wonder Saturday is mentioned 60 times.

Psalm 84:11
For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord gives grace and glory; He withholds no good thing from those who walk with integrity.

Jesus emphasized the Sabbath during his earthly ministry.
[Mar 2:27-28 KJV] 27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: 28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

While Old Testament references to worship of other gods included the sun as an abomination:
[Deu 17:2-4 KJV] 2 If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man or woman, that hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD thy God, in transgressing his covenant, 3 And hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded; 4 And it be told thee, and thou hast heard [of it], and enquired diligently, and, behold, [it be] true, [and] the thing certain, [that] such abomination is wrought in Israel:

[Eze 8:16 KJV] 16 And he brought me into the inner court of the LORD'S house, and, behold, at the door of the temple of the LORD, between the porch and the altar, [were] about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of the LORD, and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east.

[Eze 20:11-13, 16 KJV] 11 And I gave them my statutes, and shewed them my judgments, which [if] a man do, he shall even live in them. 12 Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I [am] the LORD that sanctify them. 13 But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they despised my judgments, which [if] a man do, he shall even live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly polluted: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them. ... 16 Because they despised my judgments, and walked not in my statutes, but polluted my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols.

So you reject the words of the Messiah when he declared, "the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth "?

The sabbath began at creation. "For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it. " Exodus 20:11

The Sabbath was created for God only. Man did not receive it until after leaving Egypt.

On the contrary, you quote a figure of speech that Jesus uttered.

I quote directly from what Jesus stated and a few from other authors.

Matthew 16:21
From that time Jesus began to point out to His disciples that it was necessary for Him to go to Jerusalem and to suffer many things from the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and to be killed, and to be raised up on the third day.
.
Matthew 17:23
And they will kill Him, and He will be raised on the third day.
.
Matthew 20:19
And they will hand Him over to the Gentiles to mock and flog and crucify, and on the third day He will be raised up.

Luke 9:22
Saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed and be raised on the third day.”

Luke 13:32
And He said to them, “Go and tell that fox, Behold, I am casting out demons and performing healings today and tomorrow, and on the third day I reach My goal."

Luke 18:33
And after they have flogged Him, they will kill Him; and on the third day He will rise.

Luke 24:7
Saying that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise from the dead.

Luke 24:21
But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, it is now the third day since these things happened.

Luke 24:46
And He said to them, “So it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day."

Acts 10:40
God raised Him up on the third day and granted that He be revealed.

1 Corinthians 15:4
And that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.

Prove this from scripture.

Mar 2:27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

The sabbath was made for man.
The sabbath was made at creation.

How did you arrive at this conclusion? I can’t find any scripture that supports this statement.

The scriptures show this themselves. In Genesis 1-2, God is the only one mentioned as resting from work on this Sabbath. It is not until Exodus that people are told and instructed about the Sabbath. You said you couldn't find any of these scriptures but they are very easy to locate.

Mar 2:27 KJV And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
Gen 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Notice that the Seventh day was blessed and sanctified at creation.

qâdash is sanctified =
to consecrate, sanctify, prepare, dedicate, be hallowed, be holy, be sanctified, be separate
(Niphal)
to show oneself sacred or majestic
to be honoured, be treated as sacred
to be holy
(Piel)
to set apart as sacred, consecrate, dedicate
to observe as holy, keep sacred
to honour as sacred, hallow
to consecrate.
(Hithpael)
to keep oneself apart or separate
to cause Himself to be hallowed (of God)
to be observed as holy
to consecrate oneself
Origin: a primitive root

Strong's Definition: A primitive root; to be (causatively make, pronounce or observe as) clean (ceremonially or morally): - appoint, bid, consecrate, dedicate, defile, hallow, (be, keep) holy (-er, place), keep, prepare, proclaim, purify, sanctify (-ied one, self), X wholly.

When God said that He sanctified that day it wasn't for Himself. GOD IS HOLY, the day was made holy and set aside for a purpose and it wasn't because God needed a day to rest from His labour.

It was made for man. The reason it was set aside and blessed is because God rested. Resting was not nessasary but God's way of creating and pointing us to a sabbath rest, to focus on our creator.

Heb 4:4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
Heb 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 10 For he that is entered into His rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from His.

The fact that the 4th commandment starts with the word "Remember" states that it had been forgotten. You can't forget what doesn't exist.

There is no scriptural proof that mankind only started keeping the sabbath in Exodus. It is a presumption.

REMEMBER the sabbath day to keep it
holy.

But a good question to ask yourself.
We can make excuses all day and find ways to justify what we want to believe. But where and when did God say we should stop keeping the sabbath holy?

Right, a fellow member, TMS covered the reply with much more detail than I. One other point though, who was the active creator present on that first week of creation?
[Jhn 1:18 KJV] 18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared [him].

No one is assuming that Sabbath observance began in Exodus. It is the first mention of God instructing people to observe the seventh day rest, found in Exodus. That is what the scripture tells us.

It is an assumption to say that Sabbath observance began before Exodus. There is no evidence to support Sabbath observance before Exodus.

The text is strong in declaring that the Sabbath observance was for the Jews only.

The same goes for the rest of the law.

Gentiles were never under the law and that is a fact.

"Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentles..." (Rom 3:29)
"Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles." (2 Tim 1:11)
"Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity." (1 Tim 2:7)
"So, when the Jews went out of the synagogue, the Gentiles begged that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath. ..." (acts 13:42-44)
There are many more.
You should really stop judging other people. You may find yourself not keeping the Lords Sabbath when it comes.

Colossians 2:16-17

Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.

These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.

It is not an assumption to say the Sabbath was st aside and made holy at creation.

It states planly that it was sanctified at creation. Set aside.
We are told it was made for man.
If it was made for man at creation and it is sanctified and holy we can conclude it is to be kept holy from that day.
