Why ask for forgiveness if it is not wrong to use lethal force in self defense?
Well its kind of like if you see a person laying on the ground bleeding to death and there is a car right there with the keys in it do you steal it to take the person to the hospital.

Uh, I do recall you laughing at a joke about someone having been raped. Yes, it was under an askewed view of my belief on this topic, but it was still heartless and inappropriate. Whether you agee with my view on this topic within the Bible or not, making jokes about rape and laughing about it under any situation or scenario is wrong.
I suggest post 394 and then dig your own hole a little deeper...the more you talk the deeper you dig and everybody sees the fallacy of your argument....serious!

Doing wrong does not justify the sin just because the result is for a good cause.
It is still a sin regardless of the reason you are committing it, and therefore still needs to be asked forgiven for.
If you do not ask forgiveness of it, and think it is fine to commit a sin to help another is the thinking of a carnal mind.

Yea I meant to add your going to have to ask for forgiveness, from the owner of the car, and the Lord :)

If no one was around, and I did'nt have a phone to call 911, I'd take the car to get the person to the hospital. Then I would return it back to where I found it.

This is a very sad and disturbing thread. I can't believe that there are those who would stand idly by and watch their family being savaged because of their twisted view of scripture. I find this to be appalling.

Self defense you should not ask forgiveness of, but lethal force you should because taking ones life is still wrong.
If you are put in a position where it is unavoidable to take a life then you still need to ask forgiveness for the life you took.
If you don't believe taking a life is wrong, then you would also agree with the death penalty which is not the way of our Lord.
Actually, I am currently a pacifist because that is what I believe the New Testament teaches. So I believe one would not try and kill the other person in self defense. Jesus said do not resist evil but overcome evil with good. However, when this body is gone and I will be "just spirit", I will not be a pacifist at the Lord's 2nd Coming. For his saints will follow him into destroying those evil nations that have not repented.

Actually in Revelations it says the 144,000 come with Him at His return.
The 144,000 are from the 12 Jewish tribes.

What is the difference between right now and at the Lord's second coming that would change your perception? If you are not going to be a pacifist in the hereafter why are you one now? Very few serving in the military relish the idea of killing someone in a war. Somebody has to be brave and have conviction to protect the innocent at the cost of their own life, even to save the life of a pacifist.

I would not TRY to kill the other person, but I would if I had to, if I was left with no other choice, to help or protect someone. But no hard feelings Jason, when were up there standing in line I hope your ahead of me, I really do.

I adore my wife and daughter. A woman led me to Christ. I love women in general. It's unimaginable to me that any man would attack a woman.

For any woman who is reading this, I'm sorry for anything you were offended by in any of my posts. For any woman who was abused by physically or sexually, I'm sorry I wasn't there to stop it. I have only one thing more to say.

You don't understand. Praying, rebuking them in Jesus name, witnessing to them about Jesus, or holding them back in love is not doing nothing. You believe God is powerless to help you. I don't.

I can see where you're coming from. God ordained self defense and even the death penalty. I don't know I would specifically ask for forgiveness if I was forced to take a life, but it would have a heavy weighing event that would stay with me the rest of my life. That's why I have so much respect for law enforcement.

Also, one cannot have God in their heart and joke and laugh about someone having been raped. I am more and more afraid for people here.
What scares me is that there are Christians walking around without a lick of sense in their heads.

God did side with the death penalty in the covenant of the OT when He said, " If man sheds mans blood, by man his blood shall be shed and the eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth.

But our Lord Jesus said in the new covenant we are under, NO.
We are to love, minister, and forgive them of their wrong doings. And He does not say forgive them unless they do this or that. We are to forgive them no matter what they did, just like He forgave us no matter what we have done.

We are not to be the deciders of ones life, that is to be left for our Lord to decide.
Can they be kept in prison for the rest of their life, YES. That would not be against our Lord for they are still will be facing a consequence for what they did, can be ministered to, and have a chance to repent and turn to the Lord.
Vengeance is Mine says the Lord......He makes the life and death judgment on a person, not us.

First, it is Revelation (singular), not Revelations (plural). John's revelation from God was written down as one major Revelation. Second, those who follow Jesus are those who where wearing fine linen, which is the righteousness of the saints. Why is this important? Because they are called out to the marriage supper of the Lamb. The battle is the supper. No. We are not going to eat people. It is a metaphorical phrase from the Old Testament. It is important that we understand the fine linen represents the wedding garment in the Parable of the Banquet in Matthew 22. That person who did not have on a wedding garment (who was a Gentile) was cast into outer darkness. In other words, Gentiles will be among the saints who follow Jesus at His 2nd Coming because they have on the wedding garment from the Parable of the Banquet.

Revelation 14
14 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Zion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps:

[SUP]3 [/SUP]And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.

How do we find out more about the 144,000, we look at chapter 7;

Revelation 7

7 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.
[SUP]4 [/SUP]And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Of the tribe of Juda were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Of the tribe of Aser were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nephthalim were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses were sealed twelve thousand.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar were sealed twelve thousand.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]Of the tribe of Zabulon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
[SUP]10 [/SUP]And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,
[SUP]12 [/SUP]Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?
[SUP]14 [/SUP]And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.
[SUP]16 [/SUP]They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.
[SUP]17 [/SUP]For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes

If you are not part of the twelve Jewish tribes you will not be the ones standing by Him on Mount Zion.

OK Jason let's go with your Paul theory here. God is Sovereign and kept Paul from being killed until he had finished the work God had for him.

On the other hand with God being Sovereign He won't have someone doing something that would cause them to get in front of my bullet.

God won't have anyone die until God says so. So therefore if someone gets killed by me because they were seriously harming someone then that would be God's Sovereign will.

Can you understand that? Or is that too much for you? Do you understand the Sovereignty of God as in Noone can affect God's purposes?

Yes you are to do those things, but you are also not to just stand there and watch it happen.
You are to get involved and try and stop them from hurting the other person, if it needs to be physical then that is what you have to do.
How is restraining them in a non violent way equivalent to just standing there? How is prayer the equivalent of doing nothing either? Maybe you might think these things are nothing, but I believe otherwise.
