hi eternally-gratefull; this is the thing, should the witnesses be taken symbolically and if so, wouldn't everything else then be interpreted symbolically also; but if they are 2 men who will be in Jerusalem then how does that affect the rest of the world? the video makes sense tho'..

I have not seen the video. Will have to look at it when I get home.

I have always considered them literal me. Killed. Shown all over the world (through TV) and then risen on the third day. Imagine the power this would have..

How would it affect the rest of the world? The world is blinded at this point. Most would probably excuse it by saying they were not really dead, whatever. But some (namely the jews) I think this will effect greatly, and may lead them to Christ.

Hi Noah's Mom - cute little picture you have up.

I have always believed it too.. 2 men, causing plagues, killing with fire, etc... it's what we are taught. But is it truth?
How would you tell the difference between God's wrath and the 2 witnesses causing plagues? How will we know the 2 witnesses are here? Will they come down visibly? will they wear 'literal sackcloth'?
questions to consider... (or maybe we can just leave it and see what happens) hmm

lol.. I don't think i will even be here. I believe I will be gone long before this. But good questions. We might not even know until the prophesy is fulfilled.

I know this isn't exactly part of this topic but I have always wondered why some pastors teach that the 144,000 will be evangelizing for Christ during the end times. All I have seen is that they are sealed. Where does it say they envangelize? I have to reread the sections on the two witnesses though to see what their function is but my guess is that they do witness for Christ as they are called witnesses but the 144,000, again, I don't see what their function is.

I say it is Enoch and Elijah. Something special must be meant for them to be translated into heaven without seeing death. Although the post about the old testament and new testament being the witnesses was really thought provoking. GOD's word contains so many layers and is so wonderful and mysterious sometimes I think it must take all of our different points of view to even come close, if we do in fact come close...

John 1:19And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou? 20And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ. 21And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No. 22Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself? 23He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.

Seems the Pharisees knew something about Elijah's returning

How will the world know it is Elijah? News media isn't exactly "informative" these days.

hi kentappel.

the 144,000 are "seen" in a VISION by john.

they are "seen" with Jesus on Zion.

Revelation 14:4
It is these who have not defiled themselves with women, for they are virgins. It is these who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These have been redeemed from mankind as firstfruits for God and the Lamb...

this scene in the VISION has Jesus and His firstfruits overlooking the scene on earth where the beast and the mark are in full swing.

the 144,000 are already with Him. that scene has them standing (much like Moses and Elihaj on the mount of transfiguration) with The Lamb in victory, waiting until THE HARVEST, which follows shortly afterwards in john's VISION in Revelation.

though the events on earth (the beast/mark, etc) are yet future, john went forward in time and saw both realms: heaven and earth sequentially, often at the same time. he was shown all of redemptive History in visions and symbols, forwards and backwards in time.

Wasn't his name Ed? What happened to him? He thought he was one of the witnesses. I hope he's OK. He was very nice. Good on lots of the bible until he said he was one of the witnesses. Threw me for loop.
