I lump him in with the deceivers like Robert Tilton, Baker and others.....their thee song is...

It's All About The Money, Fame or Power.......
I've never heard of those ones. I know of the ones who were on air around the time I decided to check out some sermons on tv. One woman was hawking prayer shawls with her daughter on tv and I think prayer blankets too, think her name was Marilyn....I actually think that episode with Hinn was maybe the point where I said, okay, they really can't teach me anything or be of help to me. Not sure, but I think that was when I stopped. I did find one woman I really thought was good with her message. Her name was Beth Morre. I did watch long enough to see something odd though. One of them would come out with something and they'd all start saying the same thing within a few days, copying off each other. It was sort of like when you watch news for a whole day. In the morning, someone will use a phrase like...at the end of the day. By lunchtime, everyone who comes on is using the same phrase. By dinnertime, you have to cover your ears because you know they'll shrivel up if you hear it one more time. I know they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but I say imitation is the #1 cause of most ear bleeds.

You know, I do remember thinking at the time, (when watching Daystar) that it was almost like they called each other at the end of the day and said: hey, how's it going? How much did y'all rake in today?...What??! How did you make that much?

Well, I think it's because I said "such and such." Really seemed to have a good effect on the basket.
No kidding'...I might just try that...

I actually remember thinking that.

Yeah I watched a special on like a news channel and on Robert Tilton they sent a letter asking for prayers for a mother or something (he was one of those send me money and I will pray for you types) well...they watched and videoed like three bags of letters be carried in the front door....about an hour later all three bags carried out the back and dumped in the trash dumpster....they investigated and everyone was void of the checks and cash but with the written letters and prayer requests left in them.....gonna be hot for the deceiving money grubbers like that.....as in smoking hot!

It's odd that some people can be bamboozled so easy. When I was very young, a carnival came to town. We begged and begged mom and dad to go because we'd never been to one. and all of our friends were talking about it. They especially were talking about crab man. I was like, who is that? They explained he had claws like a crab instead of hands and feet. I said that sounded scary and I wouldn't want to go, but they explained to me he can't get you and they described the whole carnival in great detail. We begged so much until I think they just gave up.

So we went and we each got...either 2 or 5 dollars, though it was around '70 and I know we didn't have scads of money so it must have been 2 or 3...dad said we could go on whatever rides or play whatever games we wanted but that was all the money we would get so to choose wisely and think about it. I wanted to see crab man and I told him so. He tried to talk me out of it till he was blue in the face but the only point I remembered was him saying if I did that, my money would be almost gone, but nope, that's what I was going to do. So much so that all these years later I don't remember any of his counsel except that one.

Well, I came out of there madder than a wet hen and crying really hard. I wanted dad to go tell them to give my money back because they tricked me and he was wearing plastic hands and feet and you could plainly see it was not true and was a trick. Do you know, I remember every single word out of his mouth when we sat down on a bench to eat ice cream cones after I'd stopped crying. I even remember the expressions on his face and every gesture he made. I even remember what kind of ice cream he had and what kind I had. I even remember the color of his shirt! But all the reasons he gave for why he thought I ought not do it, I only remember the one.

It has been very difficult to hoodwink me since then and into my adult life. Although I did have a run in with a super manipulator online for a spell but you can best believe I didn't lose any money from it! (Not that they ever asked for money. It was more of a ploy to get attention.)

The people who fall prey to men like Hinn, I wonder if their dad never took them to a carnival...they aren't stupid people, they just missed a lesson of childhood along the way somewhere?

P.T. Barnum said..."A sucka is born every minute" and he was correct......humanity will swallow hook, line and sinker all sorts of fallacies and then turn around and deny obvious truth and factual realities........

You should have used the "if it's too good to be true..." cliche' to make the point that the free gift of salvation must be earned with effort.

no the gift of reward is not to be taken for granted...... that was my point...meaning you read the word and then you think your the done deal deal,,,,,,,meaning you ate the final splendor befor finishing the work of the word...

there is the faith of the word and the work of the word,,,,,,meaning be ye doers of the word as well as hearers of the word.

This is where you lose me, with the lack of flexibility. You assume that it's only one of two states. I suggest that the only fruitful work going on is us being works in progress to relinquish the truth that it is finished and you will not and cannot improve the perfect plan of salvation. Until you do, your stuck in delusion.

Not to mention that being "doers of the word" in the black and white sense that people frame it as is an impossibility. Jesus set the standard too high for any man to reach. Everybody lives in the gray area of "kinda" being "doers of the word"....whether they wanna admit it or not.

And brussel sprouts. Although that wasn't a problem for me. I love them. Mind you the family hate the after effects.

Amen and I have described this truth in the following manner....there are some things I am rock solid on and will never compromise....and then there are areas where I am weak that I fail in regularly.........it seems we all have a thorn or two in the flesh which keep us humbled so as not to exalt ourselves above measure.........

is it to blasé to say "My flesh is my thorn?
