Unfortunately, I can't because he said that there are no dos and don'ts in the new covenant, only "oughts". IMO, "oughts" are a fruit of a fake christianity that tries to be like Jesus; they're just another form of works of law.

We are to be conformed to the image of Christ by doing faith and love. Faith and love are a commandment, not an "ought".
say what now?

I think you need a sweet cookie...low blood sugar or something

y'all are just NOT going to put me in a bad mood today!!!

ps...Ben said no such thng and if you don't want to give someone a rep, why would you go to the trouble of posting about it?

there is no need to do that...so much drama for nothing

yes I do. you just quoted them out of context, no explaination for the Book or even other verses around. the Bible is not one continual book, and should not be treated that way. and no, not every verse is relavant for today. if it were so, then you would have a jewish priest from the line of Levi inspecting your home for mold.

Jesus is talking to the ones who reject, judgment, mercy and faith in the law:

John 5:45-47 (NAS)
45 "Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father; the one who accuses you is Moses, in whom you have set your hope.
46 "For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me, for he wrote about Me.
47 "But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?"

There is a difference between the letter of the law (which condemns) and the Spirit of law (which gives life through Jesus).

Without the Lord as the foundation then all done by us is filthy rags, but with Him abiding in us by the Holy Spirit the Spirit of the law will be upheld as He places them in our heart and mind to follow as a natural everyday way of life and not as a set of ordinances.

By walking in the greatest fruit of the Spirit to love will all commands of the Lord be upheld, as the Holy Spirit abiding in us can not deny Himself. Therefore the moral will be upheld in our life and those who teach the moral does not apply, then you can hate others and have eternal life abiding in you but the Apostle John clearly disproves that form of thinking.

Love has obedience !!!

The spirit of the law leads us to Christ, It was a tutor. The letter just killed.

You are right the Lord was not born in 1611, however the now day church doctrines are turning Commandments into Suggestions.

The Lord would not have commanded things to be done if they have no importance for believers in Him, and He did not say you can go and do these things when or if you feel like it.

No, He is trying to help people realise that no one can obey the law. Because no one can do all those things.

Some people (like saul and nicodemus) actually figured that out. Other people still have not. and are trying to live the law. even though God said it is impossible. and your cursed if you do not obey every jot and tittle.

The did not believe Jesus, because they did not believe they were law breakers. and condemned.

Your right,

He said blessed are you if you do these things.

He also said, If you love (me first then your neighbor) you will do these things.

He never said, Do thee or else.. Because we can not do all of them perfectly, which is what his justice demands.

Well thats a work of God, not our work, We can not take credit for humbling ourself to the point of the cross. and humbly receiving our guilt and shame, and his eternal life.

So when are you and Just-me going to do this?

Here is another place:

John 3:5
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

or how about this one:

Matthew 7:21
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Looks like our Lord Jesus Christ did say do this or else...........................

We obey these in the faith out of love for Him !!!

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

When this was written, the New Testament writings, in a consolidated form that we have today, weren't even in print, but letters were passed on from this to that place for a decade before Hebrews was written. The word that this scripture is referring to was the Torah and prophetical writings that were read every Sabbath day in the synagogues throughout the region.

Sadly.

You misinterpret the first one to your own doom

And you misinterpret the second one to your own doom (no one is saved because they are good. no one is good enough. They are saved because they have been born of and by God. and those born of God do his commands.

The second one, the people were not saved (he never knew them) thus they never obeyed his commands..

so far. all you have proven is GOD must do a good work in us, and we MUST receive his work..

but wait, you do not even preach this.. Sad :(

(your catholic pants are showing)

Yet peter called Pauls writ tings scripture

Scripture got around faster than you though.

People were saved by the OT. Thats what paul taught.

People learned how to live by the new way, Thats why the NT was written.

All I can guess is you want to follow the OT because your not saved?? why will you not let the schoolmaster lead you to Christ?

What, you are observing my hind quarters? Shame on you!
What do you see in my beliefs that are of that religious sect? That is quite interesting. Please explain yourself. Mary isn't God's mother. Do you even know what a "schoolmaster" was then?

Now I ask, what could be a more Catholic influenced Christian than those who embrace the pagan and reject the Hebrew foundation of the faith of Abraham? This may be too subtle for the majority.
