Three major things the legalistic Pharisees didn't recognize.

It seems to me that the scribes and Pharisees were content with doing the easy parts of the law such as tithing but when it came to the weightier (barys) - the more burdensome, severe, stern matters of the law - they were ignoring. They should have been doing them all - the whole law - these judgment, mercy, and faith should have been done along side the tithing . . leaving nothing undone.

For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in ONE point, he is guilty of all. James 2:10 . . . Therefore even their tithing was wrong.

remember, He said they tithed mint and anise and cummin, these were small herbs, basically they grew small herb gardens, and took ten percent of these small little gardens to tithe, and said they obeyed the law.

it would be like us saying I do not drink cuss or smoke. so I am obedient to the law of God, and am thus his child.

what good is it if I do not eat drink or smoke. yet do not serve others.. It is useless. Because I am guilty of the law. as James said, Thus all my goodness (sacrifice) means nothing.

Now tell that to a legalist, and they will get angry. It is like telling them they sacrificed so hard to do all this good. and it means NOTHING.

I pray the Blood of Christ be between you and your enemies until you are able to confess His Blood saves you, amen.
And I pray that one day you learn what Romans 5:10 is trying to explain to you.

"For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life."

if I give all my goods to the poor, and give my body to burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing. legalists hate and ignore these verses.

amen, Because one can not have love who is not born of God. it is impossible. They can have a pseudo love, but not the love of God.

Cleaning up the outside of the cup and dish but inside full of greed and self indulgence . . . clean up the inside - confess Christ, - then the inside will also be clean. Things can look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are bones of the dead and everything unclean . . . like whitewashed tombs . . .

Religion - not relationship.

gb9,

this is one of the most un-kind and un-Christ-like things that we have ever heard
someone who claims to be a child of God say...

may our Father forgive you...

DEUT. 6:4-5.
This is 1/2 of the principle Paul is drawing on.

"Hear O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is One!
'You shall Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.'

this is the other 1/2.
LEV.19:18.
'You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people,
but, you shall Love your neighbor as yourself: "I Am The Lord."

in short, these (2) Great Commandments are from the 'legalistic-document' called
the Torah, the Law, or better translated, The Instructions.

Ahh, now the torah is not legalistic.

People make it legalistic by how they interpret it.

Sure, commands are instructions, instructions with a penalty attached for failure to comply. Unfortunately for you, no one can comply. Enter Jesus Christ.

ET,

you are exactly right in your statement, there is THE LETTER of THE LAW, which kills -
and there is THE SPIRIT of THE LAW, which gives LIFE....

as it is written,
For we know that THE LAW is SPIRITUAL.....

There is only one way to obey these commandments and that is to accept them in your heart. These things are rejected eventually by those that have no faith in God's Complete Word. All of it, not just part of it. They refuse to see the validity in God's complete Word. This is the epitome of being "stiffnecked."

Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked. Deuteronomy 10:16 ( it's the law that is supposed to be written on the hearts of those who accept all of God's word, not just part of it)

Refusal to adhere spiritually to God's law is the cause for this consistent fruit of being "stiffnecked" taking control over an unfaithful persons life day in and day out.

yep it is spiritual. It brings us to Christ as a schoolmaster leads a child to class. But once the child graduates there is no more need of a schoolmaster to continue to lead us to that class. We have graduated.

That is the spirit of the law.

For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. Romans 8:6-7

Nope. because it is focused on self. focused on laws, and rules and regulations, and how good am I doing, How good am I compaired to my neighbor. Blah Blah Blah.

It is not focused on love of others, against which , there is no law.

We can all see how well that "receiving the commandments into your heart" thing is working for you. Our only hope is Jesus, the Obedient One.

Romans 5:19
"For as through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous."

A true believer is not carnally minded, and can accept with an open heart, and know that the law of God is for our learning as well as the rest of God's word together with it.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 2 Timothy 3:16

Paul worshiped by believing everything in the law and the prophets.

But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets: Acts 24:14

Paul asks us to do the same

Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me. 1 Corinthians 4:16

You folks contradict yourselves.

You say the law is spiritual (which means it is of the spirit, but not the spirit itself) and that the letter kills, but the spirit gives live.

And then you turn around and say that we can't be obedient to the spirit unless we accept the commandments (the letter) into our hearts.

So in other words, we must accept something besides the spirit into our hearts that scripture witnesses kills us.

It seems your confusion results from conflating the spirituality of the law with the holy spirit itself, and then using the spirituality of the law as an excuse to follow it instead of Christ.

Are you actually endorsing that the Apostle Paul was a hypocrite? Wow!
