Thesefalse Christians will cast reproach on Philadelphia and hinder itswork in every way possible, perhaps even calling it a deviant orcultic form of religion. But when the time of judgment arrives, the Lord will show Hisapproval of Philadelphia by requiring all its detractors to bow downand kiss the feet of the saints they so viciously maligned.

Supporting scripture...
Revelation 3
To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write:
These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. 8 I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name. 9 I will make those who are of the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not, but are liars—I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you. 10 Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth
.
<= That's what I'm holding onto while the 'synagogue' rallies and makes their noise..the bit before it sounds pretty darn appealing too huh? lol!
>>>I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you.<<<<
They will weep with great anguish on that day, but not because they are wrong. They will weep, because God does not fit their vain imagination. The weeping will really be "Rage", that God is not following their concepts of what they think He should be.

I know that you have little strength,
yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.

(Revelation 3:8)

to which end, that we might be numbered among such as these,

Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
(Galatians 5:26)

For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.
(Romans 12:3)

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
(Philippians 12:3-4)

evidently a body of people whose members consider themselves the people of God, but are self-deceived.

which of these two do you think considered himself 'the people of God' ?
and which truly was ?

He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with contempt:
Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus:
‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’
But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying,
‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’
I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.
(Luke 18:11-14)

Sorry but the above attempt to twist the Word is laughable.

Discussing or quoting
what is written clearly in scripture does not make a person fit your twisted view of that passage. There are some scriptures, such as this below, which are unmistakable in their understanding. You do not know what the Lord has spoken to other people personally, yet you attempt to challenge.
And there are other scriptures, such as what you have posted above, which are subjective. - In essence, you've applied it wrong.

Revelation 3
9 I will make those who are of the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not, but are liars—I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you. 10 Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth.

There are those who receive revelation of the Word through the Holy Spirit.. and then there are those who try to make the Word fit what they want it to fit. There are too many of the latter in existence unfortunately.

In regards to the tree of life, how did the apple work?

Were chemicals released into the air to bring on death? Was the apple poisoned? How did the action of eating a piece of fruit cause this massive chain reaction?

At least it was one of their 5-a-day

Ok, I should not have used the word 'twisted' - However, I did inform you that you "applied it wrong" - which is exactly what you did in suggesting that those here who are discussing a scripture are somehow guilty of being conceited or thinking themselves better than others. - How incredibly presumptuous that is.
You applied the word wrong in your ignorance as you have no business making such assumptions and making yourself a judge and accuser of the brethren.

For the terrible one is brought to nought, and the scorner is consumed, and all that watch for iniquity are cut off: That make a man an offender for a word, and lay a snare for him that reproveth in the gate, and turn aside the just for a thing of nought- Isaiah 29:20-21

I do so tire of those who want to argue things for the sake of 'debate' and attack any saint they can't understand in an attempt to make a person an "offender" for a word. I very much look forward to the day the above comes to pass.

sounds like you got guilt then.

all i said is that "we" (meaning all of us) ought to obey the Lord in being humble, not thinking too highly of ourselves, becoming conceited or provoking each other.

it's OK -- i got guilt too.

It's called "Cut and Paste Theology". It works by taking any out of context verse and then pasting it together with another out of context verse to create a teaching out of the air.

are you saying you don't think these verses are related?
or that they are not part & parcel with patiently enduring in the faith, and keeping the Lord's command that we love one another?

then please overlook me, because i thought that they were. if these are completely irrelevant to the love that we ought to have towards one another, would you be so kind as to correct my understanding?

More assumptions and disguised accusations. I've no time for your attempts at using the old 'strawman' trick. You clearly are aware of the manipulative tactics you use. I wish you luck with that.. and your self confessed guilt as well. Perhaps there is yet hope for you.

Hi mate. The Bible doesn't actually mention what kind of fruit it was that Adam and Eve ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. We don't know specifically how the fruit acted, but I think it's safe to say that the main problem here, the one that led to the Fall, was the very act of rebellion against God by eating of the tree He said not to eat of. There were plenty of other fruit-bearing trees in the garden, in fact, God gave Adam and Eve every other tree to eat from, including the Tree of Life. So they weren't hard done by.

You happen to agree with someone (RJB) who doesn't seem to have a basic understanding of the foundations of the Bible. I'd look into that.

Those verses you stated apply to Christians only. The point [about Rev 3] was that there are people who say they are Christians, but aren't. So your verses have no application to the post or none Christians. [if I read it correctly]. Those who persecute the Faithful will fall down at the feet of the Righteous in humiliation by the power of God. It is the same idea of "Every knee shall bow and confess Jesus is Lord".

You say this because you are without understanding. There are levels of comprehension to the scriptures and what I'm seeing in this thread is Russell attempting to uncover the deeper meanings through symbolism. Symbolism is hugely important and the Word of God is 7 times refined. There are numerous interpretations to scripture, but not everyone will look deeply to try and uncover it. What I've seen is that the author of this thread wanted people to get involved and excited over discovering a message seen in the scripture and join in..but instead, there's been masses of people attacking him instead. These things should not be so.

No doubt there are things I will not agree with, however, we must not criticize that which we do not understand in another person. Nor can we judge their heart status, unless the Lord shows it to us.

Sure. Some of what he says is good, but with the rest he's making a parable of the whole Bible. There are group of them here who do that. It's really silly.
