Faith comes from hearing the word of God. Saving faith comes from hearing the word of God. Man's faith is like all of man's work imperfect and doomed to failure.

Ro 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

But you assume we are not born wicked and unable to discern spiritual truth. Faith is a fruit of the Holy Spirit.
No one should misapply Scripture to MISLEAD people into false beliefs.

1. FAITH IS GENERATED BY HEARING THE GOSPEL (Rom 10:17) -- This leads to salvation

2. FAITH IS A SPIRITUAL GIFT (1 Cor 12:9) -- this leads to edification

3. FAITH IS A FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT (Gal 5:22) -- this leads to sanctification

Also, people are NOT born wicked. They are born with a sin nature inherited from Adam (Rom 5:12). And all human beings have a conscience, and many obey their conscience (Rom 2:14-16)

As you can see, your man-made doctrines have confused you thoroughly, and now you are attempting to confuse others. You should quit while you go and study the Bible.

Why do some believe and others not when hearing the same gospel? It is because faith is a fruit of the Holy Spirit only the saved can have. Paul says the natural man cannot discern spiritual things.

So you don't believe the word of God? You grossly underestimate the power of Gods word.

How about; “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” 1 Corinthians 2:14 (KJV 1900)

“For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.” 1 Corinthians 2:11–12 (KJV 1900)

“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” 2 Corinthians 4:3–4 (KJV 1900)

2 Corinthians 4:3-4 to me points to believing comes before the saving.

Notice faith follows as the fruit of the Spirit which precedes.

Men choose to turn from the gospel because they do not want to receive the gospel and change from darkness to light.

John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Men choose just like Adam chose in the garden. God gives the ability to choose to every man.

The Holy Spirit ministers through the word of God to produce the effect seen in John 16.

John 16:8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

If you have not experienced the John 16 conviction of sin, righteousness and judgment you probably are not saved. Repentance is not possible by the will of man but comes by the power of God ministering in the heart.

Unless born again you cannot feel convicted of sin. How about the Pharisees with a veil over their eyes?

The word of God testifies against you. 1 Cor 2:14 reveals your need.

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The word of God cuts both directions.

But you don't know how wicked the heart is when you say this. Here's a simple test. Find faith in this mess. This is everyone not born again.

“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” Galatians 5:19–21 (KJV 1900)

Now, having exhausted your efforts, find faith here, in the New Birth.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Galatians 5:22–25 (KJV 1900)

You are endeavoring to put sanctification ahead of salvation. You are endeavoring to measure sinners by the conduct of saints.

The Holy Spirit must first reside in the heart before fruit can manifest itself.

The Holy Spirit lighteth all men that come into the world. Many turn from the light back into darkness.

John1:1 ¶ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 ¶ And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

Jesus is God.
He is not examined according to the law or the prophets. They are under him, and subject to him. He fulfilled both the law and the prophets. His transfiguration was an unveiling of his nature, revealed to the law and prophets as their fulfillment, and witnessed by Peter and John.
Yeshua/Jesus was examined by the Law (Moses) and the Prophets (Elijah) just as He was examined by the Jewish High Priest and Leaders and Pontus Pilate........all found Him innocent, no sin, full of the Righteousness of God. They could only condemn Him with false accusations, and because they feared the people.

Yeshua/Jesus was examined and is still being examined by theologians today. To believe or not to believe....... welcome to the "fork in the road."

We will disagree on what the word examined means. Because it means inspect (someone or something) in detail to determine their nature or condition; investigate thoroughly.
Which implies that the examiner has authority to make a determination.
The reason that Pilot had authority to determine the execution of Jesus is because Jesus subjected himself to that determination.
Theologians, examine that which is written about him inorder to determine what their understanding of him/his nature should be.
He revealed himself to the law and the prophets as their fulfillment, and to his disciples, so that they would know his true nature. They had neither the knowledge nor the authority to make a determination about him. He showed them who he's is. This was not a test that he was subject to.
If you think the prophets and the law are over Jesus to determine his worthiness you far underestimate who Jesus is. They are not his judge, but he shall judge all.

There is a debate in this thread connecting other debates.
Calvinism vs something else.

I have trouble following it.

But faith in God/Jesus is different than faith in the believers benefits and protection and deliverance out of various dynamics

As far as faith to get saved,I got saved similar to paul. I had no consciousness of a need to believe. I automatically accepted Him without any need for a faith to override absence of faith.

well that is Calvinism at its root...it's very core is wrong to begin with

declaring God puts His Spirit into the unsaved so that they can become saved, is absolute deception...as you know
