I read the story recently of a lady who went to that church.
Brought up in it.
Basically she said something along the lines "When I started to question what they taught I came to realise all was not well, when I questioned I was set upon, eventually I managed to get away from that cult"
I say that any church who preaches God hates people, or categories of people who have a particular sin habit are so far removed from true Christianity.
John 3:16-17
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
No caveat here when it comes to love.
Tax collectors in Jesus day were hated.
Yet Jesus says to Zaccheus
Luke 19:5-10
5 And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house.” 6 So he made haste and came down, and received Him joyfully. 7 But when they saw it, they all complained, saying, “He has gone to be a guest with a man who is a sinner.”
8 Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold.”
9 And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham; 10 for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
Jesus out of love came to earth for all sinners, to die for all sins.
The reason as I say is out of love but because God hates sin and not people.
Yes speak against sin, warn people of the consequences, both temporal and eternal.
