Hebrews 5
[SUP]8 [/SUP]Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered. [SUP]9 [/SUP]And being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him,
And what does He command us to do?

LOVE ONE ANOTHER.

those who do what Jesus Christ COMMANDED them to do are accepted with Him
Those who do not do what He says will Him say "I never knew you" no matter how many times a day they praise Jesus, or go to Church, or profess Him, and no matter what they BELIEVE either.

Those who Love One Another, have Christ in them.
Many typical Christians today, claim that He lives in them, but they do not Love One Another.

It is the Will of God that we believe on Jesus Christ AND Love One Another. Woe to any person who does not DO BOTH. Woe to them indeed.

The will of the Heavenly Father is to believe on HIM whom he has SENT.....all who believe are GIVEN as a GIFT everlasting life.....

BE NOT REMOVED from the SIMPLICTY that is found in Christ JESUS..............
How is this NOT a Faith only doctrine? Do not those who believe and teach Faith ONLY teach this as well?

What you say above is TRUE, but it is only part of the TRUTH. You must believe and OBEY Him, as it is written in the Word of God. Believing only is not enough, this is also written in the Word of God. Please pay attention to the Holy Inspired Word of God and what it plainly teaches:

1Jn 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. :23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, AND love one another, as he gave us commandment. :24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

You say and teach that we should believe ONLY, and that is enough for eternal Salvation. But Scriptures teaches in many different places that believing is not the ONLY thing that is REQUIRED. You do greatly error if you think it is enough. (Note: i would have made the word AND in the above verse even bigger if i could have, so this generation does not miss it) Believing AND Loving One Another is what is REQUIRED for all those who will be accepted by Jesus Christ. Woe to those who believe that believing is enough, woe to them indeed, for they are picking and choosing which verses they will adhere to, and which verses they will ignore, such as the one given above.

Brothers and Sisters in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Please stop attacking others. There is no need for name calling, or saying things that you know will intentionally cause another to get upset, it is not Godly.

We are commanded to Love One Another. We can disagree without causing hurt or harm to another. Name Calling, or belittling another is not productive but will only induce a negative response, not to mention it is not Godly to do so. We can rebuke, exhort, or reprove someone without attacking them, or calling them names, or saying something just to push their buttons. Love each other, as our Lord and Savior commanded us to do. Just be nice.

I am not sure that the disagreements are totally wrong, just need a little adjusting. Correctly stated, we are not supposed to sin to be saved, but this type of sinning is the intentional kind that doesn't intend to stop. The kind that Hebrews 10:26 ( If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left,) and 1 John 3:6 (No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.) are talking about. On the other side of the discussion is the problem Paul ran into and laid out in Romans chapter seven, which I won't post here, that says there is the spirit being in him and there is the physical body he lives in which are at war with each other and sometimes the body wins. That doesn't mean that Paul has lost his salvation, only that the body wins sometimes.

I am not sure whether you (Mr. 7's) are agreeing with me or trying to argue.
Nobody can attain righteousness without Jesus.
I am saying you cannot attain righteousness in or through Jesus and still sin.
It's a contradictory statement to say that you can sin and be saved
or you can have righteousness through Jesus and still sin.
Re: righteousness ...
there are 10 NT verses which warn us that ...
we must practice righteousness to be considered to remain righteous!

He has been shown God's warnings countless times,
and has refused/rejected them ...
so there's no sense wasting any more time on him!

Only believers have obeyed Him by choosing to believe the gospel (Romans 1:16) in order to become saved and only believers obey Him after they have been saved through faith by keeping His commandments and practicing righteousness and not sin (1 John 2:3; 3:9,10). In either sense, believers obey Him.
EXCUSES, EXCUSES, and MORE EXCUSES ... for NOT obeying Jesus' commands!

Rebellious believers refuse to obey Jesus' commands ... and sin habitually instead.

Jesus never commanded anyone to believe ... He and His disciples only INVITE.

100+ NT warnings were written for us to HEED ... not for us IGNORE.

Several of them obviously say believers can lose eternal life.

Some of them written to believers say they can gain eternal death.

But, those who have been deceived by Satan through their churches
don't believe any of these warnings from the Lord.

Oh boy.

I think John said it best.

He who sins has NEVER SEEN GOD or KNOWN HIM.

rebellious Christians? No such thing..

Rebellious Christian wannabees, who act like christians, and walk with them in church? Well of course. WHy? They have never been born of god. As john said again,

Whoever has been born of God does not sin.

so when are you going to stop making excuses, repent, and come to Christ?

Why won't you believe the 10 NT verses which warn ...
One must "practice righteousness" to be righteous (in God's eyes)!

In other words ... Living Righteously ... not sinning w/o repentance ... obeying Jesus' commands ... etc.

Answer: Because you don't care to be seen as righteous in God's eyes.
--------- Because being righteous in your own eyes is quite sufficient!
When are you goingn to learn to interpret the scripture correctly

One who practices righteousness, is saved, He practicies righteousness BECAUSE he is saved, NOT TO GET SAVED.

YOu have it all backwards, Your trying to save yourself. God wants to save you, When are you going to get out of gods way?

What do you think about how Jesus loved the Pharisees?
If He has a baseball bat, IMO He would have used it to try to wake them up!
He also displayed a lot of love when He overturned the tables in the Temple.

You must practice righteousness to prove you are truly saved.

Ditto for those who love Jesus enough to humble themselves and obey Jesus' commands.

There are many NT verses which warn believers to do the bold, or lose salvation.

All of the things you think you have to do are provided by Christ. But if you are busy thinking that it is by your power and strength that it is accomplished you are not receiving these things from Christ. Why?

Because, as your faith is so it is unto you.

Galatians 3:3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

If you've begun in the Spirit then you know it isn't by your work that you receive from the Lord nor is it by your work that you obey Him.

Galatians 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Do you need Faith to be saved? Its given. Do you need Love? Its given. Self-control? Its given.

The just live by faith. Why?

John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

You can't abide in Christ by providing your love from your strength. You can't abide in Christ by providing your obedience to His Commands from your own will and understanding. That would be attempting to be perfect by your own flesh.

You abide in Christ by Faith. Christ provides the fruit of obedience through His Holy Spirit.

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Anytime you say woe to the people or you tell them they must do this or must do that you are encouraging them to walk after the flesh. You are leading them the wrong way.

I am talking to saved Christians, of course... As I assumed you were as well.

To those here who are on the fence ...

You must RECONCILE all of the NT verses!

You must RECONCILE all of the so-called OSAS verses with all of the anti-OSAS verses!

The only way to do this is to accept the fact ...

True saving belief = heart belief, unwavering faith, everlasting trust,
obedience, practicing righteousness, enduring in your faith until death,
and not taking the dreaded mark of the beast

What needs to be reconciled in your understanding is before coming to Christ and after coming to Christ.

What changes? Working for your own righteousness and Salvation, namely.

Galatians 3:23-26
23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

The only way to get back into condemnation is by your own work of trying to be obedient by your own strength and understanding. ie, working at the law

Galatians 3:10-11

10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

True saving belief = heart belief, unwavering faith, everlasting trust,
obedience, practicing righteousness, enduring in your faith until death,
and not taking the dreaded mark of the beast
All of this is given by Christ when a person comes to Him.

Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

When Paul said we are not saved by works he is speaking from a fleshy perspective of people trying to find favor with God apart from Christ, and Paul told them only be accepting Christ will you find favor with God.

When James said faith without works is dead, and we are justified by works, and not faith alone,he is speaking from a spiritual perspective after we are saved, allow the Spirit to lead you.

Paul is speaking before accepting Christ, your works is not going to help you to find favor with God,and James is saying after we are saved,be led of the Spirit doing the works of love towards people to have faith active in your life.

If we neglect the poor when we have the means to feed them, the love of God does not dwell in us,love not the world,or the things in the world, and if so,the love of the Father is not in you.

Jas 5:19 Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;
Jas 5:20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

If a person that claims Christ has sin in their life they will not give up,the Bible says at that point in time they are a sinner, have erred from truth, has to be converted, and there soul is not in a right position, for if they turn from their sin not wanting to do it anymore, then it saved their soul from death.

Heb 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
Heb 10:27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

If we have sin in our life we do not want to get rid of the blood of Christ cannot wash it away, for the sin cannot be washed away if we do not want to let it go.

If we live in sin not wanting to give it up the Bible states that we are not in a right position to receive salvation.

The Bible says that a Spirit led life will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh, and will show the characteristics of the Spirit, therefore they are not under the law, which means the law cannot touch them for prosecution, but if there is sin in their life then they are under the law,and the law,the moral laws, can touch them for prosecution.

Which there is no excuse for we can be led of the Spirit if we make the choice to do right, and can have the same power Jesus had to overcome the flesh,so there is no excuse for our sins.

But of course God always forgives us for our sin, even if we live in sin for a year, but at the time we have sin in our life we will not give up,we are not in the right position, but under the law, until we repent of it,then we are not under the law.

You must practice righteousness to prove you are truly saved.

Um no. God does not need me to prove anything to him. HE KNOWS.

Those who ARE saved will practice righteousness.. Those ho are not saved will not. End of story,

That is Gods word.

Nope. None.. There is a warning about people who THINK they are saved, but are not.. Bot no warning about losing, that would make salvation by works, and the cross meaningless.

Paul spoke of both before and after salvation.

He called the galation church, because they believed they were saved by the spirit. but then went on teaching this salvation had to be perfected in the flesh, or could be lost.

lets not be fools trying to earn our salvation.

How is it contributors come here talking about salvation to believers as if they are
not saved. A believer is saved because they have believed in Christ.

Now if believers desire to follow and obey Christ, does this mean they then loose
their salvation? Well surely not because you gain salvation once for all and cannot loose
it.

So these contributors are very confused. If someone trusts Christ to gain forgiveness of sins
through the cross, if they over believe, or have various additions of belief does this invalidate
the belief? If it does, then the belief is conditional. But once you say there are conditions you
have already changed your belief everything is without condition.

This is why I find people so rediculous about their stand of superiority and condemnation, when
they are so completely flawed. And calling people to repent, when they themselves are wrong,
it just absurd. And what they mean about repent is just agree with God, which is not the biblical
understanding of repentance.
