You are in error. You keep twisting the truth to defend polytheism. The correct definition of polytheism is: the belief in, OR worship of, more than one god.
it makes no difference, the definition of polytheism is from 17th century. unless you can provide proof that today's definition is the same as those in biblical times, your argument does not hold water. everything in scripture is about worshiping other gods.

i agree the statement of Jesus, confirms the psalm passage is about gods / heavenly beings. had the pharisees been accusing Jesus of being a judge or making Himself a judge (like a common person judge of this world) then the "judge" theory would work, but thats not what they are talking about.
people get uneasy when you throw around the term "gods" they think it can mean one thing and one thing only, the Most High, the bible says different.
The Psalm is talking about judges.

I understand you polytheists here are not meaning the Most High. You are HENOTHEISTS . That is a particular form of polytheism where you believe in a bunch of gods but only one main god/God gets worshipped. Jehovah Witnesses and Mormons are henotheists along with you guys.

The difference between "and" and "or" in a sentence wouldn't make a difference to someone who doesn't care about the truth of the matter. But in the real world there is a big difference between the meaning of the sentence depending on which word is used.

That 17th century comment of yours just shows how irrational you are willing to sink to defend your indefensible polytheism.

these judges are sons of the Most High, not common men that we see walking around today.

Exodus 23:13
“Pay attention to all that I have said to you, and make no mention of the names of other gods, nor let it be heard on your lips.

Deuteronomy 6:14
You shall not go after other gods, the gods of the peoples who are around you—

Deuteronomy 32:17

They sacrificed to demons that were no gods, to gods they had never known, to new gods that had come recently, whom your fathers had never dreaded.

Exodus 15:11
“Who is like you, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?

Joshua 24:2

And Joshua said to all the people, “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, ‘Long ago, your fathers lived beyond the Euphrates, Terah, the father of Abraham and of Nahor; and they served other gods.

Deuteronomy 10:17
For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who is not partial and takes no bribe.

so what do you do when you get to passages like this in the bible? do you black them out with a marker?

guess that means you have no scripture to support your argument.

I already gave you the verse where the Apostle Paul tells us that they aren't really gods because other gods don't exist.

It is self-evident that most knowwhat they intend when using the word, god, however most have no idea of the word and its origin.

Etymology has been able to trace the word, god, back to Sanskrit where it loses the trail of its meaning. In other words, people do not know the origin of the word, god, but they certainly are aware of what they mean when they use the word. With a capital g it is our Maker in all of His manifestations........+

jIn many aspects , the same holds true of the words, el, elohim, etc. People know how it has been being used of late, but they have no ideaof its original usage. Some even say it means lord, and today for many it does, but its origin al usage was applied to men of honor or strength and finally to any of what we call gods, Greek, Roman Babylonian, etc.

If we would be certain we would use the title God gave to Moses, always, Yahweh, or Self-Existing, but this is not good for many.. When I use the words God, Holy Spirit, Jesus, etc, i KNOW IT is Yahweh, the Self-Existing. It owuld be nice to know all feel this to be true, but as long as they know etymologies and facts without study, this hope is oft time a complete disappointment.

Good morning to all from here and God bless you.

You can't rely on etymology word studies. Look up the English word "nice" and its etymology. Then tell me if you are a nice person?

was it this verse:
2 Corinthians 4:4
In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

wait a sec, my mistake, thats st Paul referring to Satan as "god" of this world. so i guess Satan does not exist now either

actually Paul says idols were not real.

We must bear in mind all homonyms, synonyms and antonyms, this is basic in all etymological study.

Paul isn't saying Satan is actually a god but that he is the god of this world to those who belong to the world. Paul already wrote that just because people say there are gods it doesn't mean there are other gods because other gods don't exist. There is only one god/God.

If we are children of God, if we are born in God's image, then are we not God, without being THE God?

Is a slice of apple pie, apple pie?

And if that apple pie slice, were to decay over a long period, into a dusty lump of green mold, has it not turned from apple pie, into its self, separate from apple pie?

Food for thought.

the command is not to worship other gods. polytheism or belief that other gods exist is never mentioned.
The First Command does not say the word "worship". It says you are to have no other god but you have lots of gods.

Words need to be defined by their context not by root word etymological studies. Otherwise you will turn into a "nice" person (etymologically speaking). :)

Friend, etymology is the study of the ever-changing context of words within their window of existence, that is since they came into usage until today........you may say the history of words and their usage if you please. This is how I learned as a linguistics student at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. Yet, I do not consider myself source authority, simply read on the subject.

so he is not saying he is a god, he is saying he is a god?? that makes no sense but ok.

what about this one:

Exodus 15:11
“Who is like you, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?

so this song is comparing the Most High to non existent beings? kinda like cartoon characters or something?

No, we are not God.
