What makes you think you're a prophet?
I don't "think I am a prophet". I'm a Born Again Christian, and I did experience the
Baptism in the Holy Spirit (Assembly of God terminology) back in '73

However, "Prophesy" is one of the gifts of the SPirit listed in 1 Cor 12:4-11.

All the spoken gifts (Prophesy, Tongues, Interpretation of tongues, Word of wisdom, and Word of Knowledge) are essentially the SAME gift. That's to say that the Holy Spirit feeds to your mind directly what HE wants you to speak, and lets you know when to speak it. YOU contribute nothing except the voice to proclaim it.

Simple as that.

Why is that? Don't just tell me I need to look something over without telling me what I'm supposed to be looking for.
True prophets do struggle with their gifts. Some are so careful that they pray for confirmation from God before they speak.
Others are troubled because of how serious their prophecies are or the judgments that come with them.
Ezekiel was told his prophecies would not be received by the people at all. That can be troubling all by itself.

Before I went to Chicago, God had put it in my heart to go to Miami and prophesy. Then I met a woman (I'm pretty certain I was speaking to an angel) who told me about going to Miami. Then I heard in a dream that I should go to Miami and a few hours after I woke up from that dream, I saw a testimony video of a man and the first thing he talked about was living in Miami.

I'm so completely flat broke (and in a bit of debt), that I cannot go to Miami. But I am 100% certain that when He wants me to go, He'll provide me with everything I need to go. I believe there is a reason He wants me to go prophesy in Miami.

God sent someone to me who said, "God wanted me to give you this." It was enough money to pay my bills for the month and to go to Miami to prophesy with my sign.

Me in Miami:
Congratulations. You made your dream a reality.
Since you are in Miami (my cousin lives there) try to customize the message for them, since they like to party and drink.
Maybe have a sign that says: Free Living Water Provided Here.
God bless you.

God made my dream a reality as I detailed for everyone to read. He literally sent me someone to pay for all my needs as I said He would when He wanted me to go.

It's interesting you say that about your cousins by the way. I kept wondering why God had wanted me to go to Miami. The homeless angel woman told me that it was one of the four corners that Jesus would return from. Personally, I believe He wanted me to go to warn people living in paradise that they cannot escape accountability forever. They need to repent like all of us need to and follow our Lord Jesus Christ.

But I do think it's strange for people on this site to believe a supernatural, all-powerful God is incapable of speaking to me and sending me as a prophet to do His will. Some people will not believe no matter what. Crazy.

I know this is my first thread, but I came to this site to ask people's opinions.

God has called me to be a prophet, but I don't understand the point of it. What good is it to know what is going to happen? What good is it to tell people what's going to happen?

When I do tell people what is going to happen, they don't believe me and they come up with any explanation they can to say that what God has shown me will happen won't happen.

Deuteronomy 18:21,22 gives the test of a prophet: "[SUP]21 [/SUP]You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord?” [SUP]22 [/SUP]If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed." I will pass that test when what God has shown me comes to pass. The only problem is that when what I say comes to pass, there will not be anyone alive or on this forum to verify it.

Even the most devout Christians on this forum will not be able to accept what I have to say. God is going to do a thing so great and terrible that you cannot even fathom it, let alone accept it. And again I ask, what good is it for me to tell anyone? I fear, and think I know deep down in my heart, that God has raised me up to be the unheard prophet: a raving madman preaching from the street corner about what He is going to do and that no one will listen or heed my warning. And then it will be too late.
I have two questions: How do you know that God has called you to be a prophet? Do you know that the prophets didn't just tell the future but also were the preachers of God's Word in their day? If you didn't know the latter info about prophets, my suggestion is that you get solid biblical and theological education from a conservative seminary so that you "rightly divide" God's Word.

Would I be a prophet?

At age 19, I walked up to a display and was handed a tract while walking to my next class while in college.
That was around 1969. The Vietnam years. Depressing times.

I held the tract and kept walking.
I was Jewish. Furthermore, I knew zero theology concerning regeneration.
I had grown up with many Catholic friends and never thought much of it.
I had no "Jewish repulsion" to the Cross.

While walking further down the corridor I read the tract.

At that time of my life the Hippy culture had grabbed me by the collar and had dragged me down a road of sin…Which had been leading me into a developing depression.

I paused reading when it asked me to believe in Jesus.

When confronted? I thought to myself.
"My life has become totally messed up." (I had been a heavy blues rock musician at that time. That should give you an idea).
I sarcastically said to myself. "What can save me? Stop eating bacon?" (placing myself under Jewish law)
I instinctively knew that the law could not transform, nor to save me.

So?
In my mind, I then asked Jesus in my mind to save me… All while walking to my next class.
After I took the tract when done and threw it into a wastebasket before entering music appreciation class.
I thought nothing of it. I just wanted to believe in Jesus. That's all.

About maybe a month later? Thanksgiving night. I began having a series of dreams and visions that lasted for weeks.
I was sometimes shown future events, and about things about to be shown on the news before it happened.

Was I a prophet?

Genez,

[Was I a prophet? ] No it makes you a follower of Christ Jesus directed by his will and not your own.

Prophets are usually apparent by their lifestyles. They abstained from a great many things and they don't eat certain foods like grapes or raisins or wine. People view them as peculiar. Right, and wrong is really important to them. Prophets are often times they are shunned by their family. When they speak it's about God and his laws. And most importantly God speaks directly to them.

Was I a prophet?
But, I am not a prophet....

No more a prophet than when God gave Joseph a dream to take Mary and Jesus to Egypt to escape king Herod.
Joseph was not a prophet.

I was also given one major dream that changed my life.
It was given to me ten years before I walked onto the campus of a Bible college.
A school that did not exist at the time I was given the dream.

But, I am not a prophet.

Keep in mind..... I still thought I was Jewish after I got saved and had no idea what regeneration does in changing the inward man.
Some can have moments of being prophetic... not to be confused with being a prophet.

That describes someone who took a Nazarite vow!
Not a prophet! Prophets could eat as they pleased.

Genez,

Thanks for correcting me. I think I confused prophet and saint.

John the Baptist only ate locus and wild honey and Daniel only ate vegetables and water while Christ Jesus and the disciples drank wine

ResidentAlien has attacked me many times on here, and I got defensive about it, but I should have just loved him all the same. The Lord told me to stop defending myself and that He would defend me. So, I do my best to not care because it's in the Lord's hands.
You shouldn't be defensive, no reason to be. Simply disagreeing with someone isn't an attack.

All I know is true prophets don't go out of their way to impress people with how great they are, but how great He is.

You don't seem to comprehend what people have been saying to you. I don't think anyone is saying He's incapable of sending you; what they're saying is it doesn't seem He actually has sent you because all your dreams are a garbled mess and have no benefit to the hearer; and because of your prophecies that have no foundation in scripture. You seem a little self-serving and want people to accept you as a prophet just because you say you are; but that's not how it works. Scripture counsels us to test everything.

Understanding the falling away in these last days, & you're suggesting a seminary?
Which one hasn't been infiltrated? Which one's doctrine hasn't been tainted? Which ones don't have Jesuits running/teaching in it??
That's something that needs to seriously prayed about before jumping in.

@ jonchristian,
It would seem you're asking this forum about something you already know, as if you need confirmation.
If so, this forum, as nice as it is, Isn't fit to be used for such things because no one knows anyone else. nor do we know if anyone's legit or not. I'm not dissing the forum, but asking us something this important is like asking the man on the street.

God has called me to be a prophet, but I don't understand the point of it. What good is it to know what is going to happen? What good is it to tell people what's going to happen?

From Acts 2, we see every christian is empowered to prophesy (speak for God) to the world. This chapter has not ceased, though many says it has, they have no proof at all.
There is one thing I definitely need to ask you: Do you have the baptism of the Holy Spirit?
