My original argument is not centered on lip gloss, but on modest dress and appearance. Where is the argument against dressing modestly?
I think everyone has differing opinions on modesty. For example what you find immodest might not even cross my radar

No one is arguing modest dress, but we are still talking about lipgloss.

"Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling." Philippians 2:12

on a serious note:

foundthetruth, people need to take responsibility for their own sin and temptation. we should not willing sin by placing stumbling blocks in front of others but neither should we be fearful that we are tempting others and worry and cause our peace to be lost because others look upon and us and lust for us. it is that person's sin not ours. if a rape victim were here i personally would not say she deserved to be rape because of her clothes.

in some countries shorts are consider sluttish.

I've had the misfortune of wandering into a liberal christian church. The emphasis was on the concept of "thou shalt not judge and we are all sinners" then the pastor told us we therefore owed extra special love and care for "special" sinners such as homosexuals and other politcally correct groups. After the sermon while eating home made cookies I made some crack about how if sinners were so deserving of special extra love and care I should maybe spend my saturday nights in a wild sinful manner at the redneck bar and nurse my hangover on sunday morning whilst everyone else prayed for me. This brought about an angry rebuke and the first quotations from the bible I'd heard all morning. To me liberal christians and liberals are one and the same: people heavily involved in identity politics who want blank checks on behaviour for all of the politically correct groups whilst white males are supposed to be completely selfless sinless providers for those forementioned groups. Needless to say, I never went back again realizing that yes indeed staying home with a hangover was probably more holy than getting messed up with such a racket.

Maybe read the "Good and Beautiful God Series." That's pretty liberal. I think that liberalism means that we're falling away from the "word,' forgiveness, and salvation, and questioning the Bible. You now have the choice to either believe in the NT or the OT, or kind of live like they were never separated. I read in one of the recent teachings of a southern Weslyan denomination that a family left their faith due to liberalism. They felt betrayed by God. Their new Senior Pastor had come in & told everyone that they didn't really have to ask for forgiveness, or become new, because they were already forgiven when Jesus died on the Cross for their sins. WOW.

I think we are being told that Avon and Mary Kay is evil. :(

Every once in awhile one of these self righteous evil judges come in here spewing their poison of hate for the sisters. We get to see people who we would have thought were good Christians talking how they only wear a little make up giving themselves excuse that there better than ones who wear more than they do. Evil hearts.

As if one who wears make up is more sinful than condemners. If Jesus was walking the earth today he wouldn't be dressed like the rest of us and I'm sure there would be the ones ready to beat him up.

You people need to check your self righteous hearts with God and ask him to relieve you of your hateful hearts and condemning attitudes.

Ask God to help you because you have serious problems.

I alwaysx thought that while God wants a woman to dress modestly he also wants her to dress her best. As in, not to be a slob or look like trash. You know as well as I that makeup is used to help bring out certain features on a womans face and isnt normally used to be showy. Do I have to wear makeup to dress appropriately? Not at all, but I also think if I hae the ability to look nice then I will. And when people look nice, they are more approachable to the public. If you are approachable to others then we should take that opportunity to talk about the Lord.

On another note, I am so fair skinned I look like a vampire without makeup. I look sickly and people comments on that all the time. So, yeah..thats another reason i wear it. :)

so is having "cheeks lovely with ornaments" referring to makeup?

Song of Solomon 1
8 If you do not know, O fairest among women,
Follow in the footsteps of the flock,
And feed your little goats
Beside the shepherds’ tents.
9 I have compared you, my love,
To my filly among Pharaoh’s chariots.
10 Your cheeks are lovely with ornaments,
Your neck with chains of gold.
11 We will make you[h] ornaments of gold
With studs of silver.

Back on track

Liberal Christians believe everything is negotiable and subjective. They also seem to intentionally misunderstand the Bible to suit their own thoughts and opinions.

"Sure God says homosexuality is wrong, explicitly, numerous times... but he's never met my gay friend __________ who is so awesome there is no way they're going to hell. God loves everyone! That verse probably doesn't apply anymore."

lol... That was brillant. You've pretty much just described life with Christians in Canada better than I ever can.

To be honest, many women who wear makeup are acting out in a Jezebel spirit. Control/manipulation... to entice men or invoke jealousy in other women. There are many excuses, but I do not believe women should adorn themselves with make-up, jewelry, immodest clothing as it sets a stumbling block for their Christian brothers.[

You got it twisted, brother. To chastise a lady for wearing make up and jewelry only shows that YOU have a jezebel spirit.

You know there's so much more to God than if we have make up on. The fact that people are walking around judging our make up just makes me crazy. I wear make up any time I please. God loves me and cares for me. The point was not to love things more than God. Oh I can't believe we always have these post. My daughter actually has a make up business. She says it's her job to help everyone be beautiful. She's a very good servant of God. God has blessed her business. She sells all over the world. The good Lord loves her just fine and he uses her for his work. Have fun!

To be honest some men are lustful dogs and need to repent and ask God for help.
