"Yer saved!" "Them bad 'ol people are gonna suffer tribulation!"
"I'm not worried!" "I'm not gonna be here!" "I'll be RAPTURED!"
One of the main PURPOSES for "the tribulation" (so commonly-called), aka "the 7-yrs/70th-Wk" (from the "ARE DETERMINED UPON thy [Daniel's] people, AND UPON thy [Daniel's] holy city" Dan9:24) is:

--to bring Israel into their New Covenant [from their present "BLINDNESS [/a hardening]… UNTIL"]

We should be rejoicing for their sakes [Rom11:26-29], about this fact, and not expressing our disdain for it.

Yeah? "horse hockey!"

I'm just bumping into the discussion here, so bear with me, please.

Ephesians 5:18 KJV
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit

Apparently, one can have the Spirit, but not be filled with the Spirit. What's your take on this verse? To what degree is he talking about being filled?

Let's talk about it. :)
"Filled"!! That ought to do the trick. I also like how it's not a suggestion. It's one of the 800 or so commands in the New Testament.

Are you talking "at cross-purposes" with [member] RebuildJesussChurch?

I get that impression, from what you are saying here (and what he himself has been conveying in his posts).

I think you two are "LIKING" each others' posts apart from actually comprehending them, perhaps?

[it's just... I've seen that over and over again in my some 45-yrs as a believer... ppl joining-in-with-others (esp so as to be "against-others-still") of whom they haven't the slightest clue as to what their "beliefs" stem from (falsehoods, etc)]
I "get" what yer saying (I think), concerning "cross purposes."
RebuildJesus'Church hasn't been here that long for me to know him very well.
But, methinks the "point" where we both agree, is that "believers" have this tenancy of

I gotta commend you for "spelling" that ^ correctly. :D LOL (Yeah!) [one "s" at the end of "Jesus' [possessive, re: Jesus]"--correct!]

I hear ya. Can somewhat understand that, concerning the length of time someone knows another, b/f one can really "get" where that person is actually coming from (concerning "beliefs" and so forth).

I think, as least from his posts, we both agree that "believers" have this tendency to "sell themselves, and their faith way too short", from that which it could mature into being, in an "eranest expectation" (hope) of salvation, rather than a false sense of a most certain salvation, by sitting on their hands, and just believing.

To those who's measure of faith is smaller? I have no condemnation of.

It is those who have (a) smaller measure, and proclaim that the measure they possess, is all that is required for everyone; the "quaker oats mantra" yanno? "Good enough for me?" "Good enough for thee!" which makes the hearts of the righteous sad, whom God has not made sad, is what "burns me arse."

Inasmuch as in their "euphoria?" They grossly underestimate the power of the spirit of anti-christ.
For it's not only "souls" we try to win over to Christ?
It's also "spiritual warfare" that goes on a raging, whether one believes this is so, or not!

This not only occurs outside the believer, "in the world?" It also occurs inside each and every believer!
For if a believer was to say he is wihout sin? They would be lying!
And, "ignoring" it, doesn't make the carnal nature lose interest and go away either!

Haha... I've had that happen about a zillion times on this site... when trying to post something like the Grk word apostasia or something similar, where the automatic-spell-checker thingy keeps CHANGING it to the word apostasy instead of the actual word *I* am intending... and my correction of it only *STICKS* after like the 10th time of trying! (if it happens to be DURING the "editing" time, like inserting that word into my text, I am DOOMED... can never get it to *STICK* FAST ENOUGH!! LOL)

It might seem odd, but thank you for being civil. I'm new to the site but you are the only person I recall who openly disagrees with me and has any kind of kindness towards me. I appreciate it.

Status quo theological jargon that contains part of the truth, so mainstream we think it is the truth. But it’s not true to the canon of Scripture. I’ve heard such sermons so based that the child molester can rejoice that God only sees the righteousness of Christ. Absurd. The worshipper has no idea what it means to live by Jesus as He lived by the Father. “My sheep hear My voice and I know them and they follow Me.” But the soulish Christian is free to lean on his own understanding today and walk in his own way consequently the things he does are not done to the glory of God because Christ is not Head. This is status quo religion, but not Bible. Jesus came to baptize us in the Holy Spirit, as His forerunner testified. But such theology has no need for why He truly came. The worshipper continues in sin as well, the very acts Jesus came to destroy. He has promised to love those who obey His teaching. “Abide in My love. If you keep My commands you will abide in My love just as I have kept My Father’s commands and abide in His love. Let’s drop theology and just take up the sword of the Spirit and talk in His language. Such Christian Talmud as a lot of you guys spout kept me in sin and from being able to live by faith and cease from my own works to do His will instead. Our family’s peace would be shot and Christ would no longer be Lord.
I agree with this completely, and amen. I would however add a bit of emphasis on the fact that it is not by our power or will that we obey Him. When we are born again He resurrects out spirit and reconciles us to Him. Now spiritually alive and completely connected to Him it's now Him that empowers us to obey Him, and Him that gets the glory for it. This isn't a list of rules that He put's on our shoulders to burden us same as the 10 commandments, no, He frees us from our weakness in the flesh and now indwells and guides us to all truth and righteousness, His righteousness. If you are in Christ in truth you WILL follow Him, you will move in closer to Him, you will desire to obey Him in freedom, not chains praise His mighty name.

Please go back earlier in this thread and refute the MOUNTAIN of Scripture that says otherwise.
Are you saying there are mountains of scripture that say these verses (and others) don't really mean what they say?

Hebrews 3:6 ...whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

Hebrews 3:14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;

Enlighten me.

But at least we both agree that these people NEVER had oil, NEVER had the Holy Spirit and were NEVER saved.
No.....that's not what I said.
The unwise virgins either had no oil because it ran out, or because they never had any to begin with. I said I think the parable is carefully crafted so either one can be the case, because the outcome is the same for both.....eternal separation from Jesus in the next life.

The idea of the parable is to keep watch and be ready at all times; so you must consider the teaching in your interpretation of the lamps.
That's what I prefer to focus on. The new once saved always saved argument says the one time believer does not need to be ready at all times in order to be saved when he returns.

It really doesn't matter if you used to be saved but aren't now, or you were never saved to begin with. You're still damned either way,. At least the old once saved always saved doctrine didn't have unbelievers being saved at Christ's return.

Yup Nice Scripture.. And the point?
Point is in the details. Everything was reconciled, the heavens and earth and all that's in them including stones and trees. Your false teaching says only a few people including yourself, were reconciled to God and now look down on others.

Are there many who beiieve in Calvinism on this site? I was taught that Calvin is wrong. That Jesus died for ALL of us, not just a select few. If a select few were ALREADY SAVED, what was the purpose of the Cross, then? Calvin made God out to be a monster. If he already knew, then what is the purpose of being "saved". Anyone?

I feel too young to intervene in this discussion but I have a question - how do I ...uhm...I guess I have to say that I believe that God is sovereign and He has got me in the palm of His hand. There are beautiful things in the Scriptures about God's love , that just needs to be balanced with something else because people acknowledge they are sinners and that God loves them but then they are horrified in their walk when they discover that they are unable to walk according to God's standards in this life leaving them utterly confused. They judge themselves at every point - i ain't doing this rightly , that rightly and for me personally - I fell into depression just by the knowledge that I was trying to be loving, kind and to do God's will and I couldn't. So as Jimbone puts it - God gives us the power. My question then is - how to access this power - by faith? What if there isn't no faith in the person...because I personally have experienced depression - it is a feeling which kinda speaks like - "what's the whole point of life?" , " why should I even be happy, it is futile" , it even crosses boundaries and comes into spritual aspects of thinking saying " what is there in this world and beyond it that will ever satisfy me, I don't feel anything, I won't be happy , this does not make sense" . All this makes the person ask and think what is the whole point of me having this FAITH..when I do not want (due to depression) anything from this world and beyond but to just disappear, just to die.
How can a person go beyond this? It is like battling against one of satan's strongest moves - almost like 'checkmate' ...what move does this person make..what does this person do?

Noose, exactly ... and well said. It is very important to read an entire post or the meaning, which is the context within which one is speaking, will be lost. Those who are ALWAYS right, tend to see something they may disagree with and not read for context. Context is everything, and in the Bible .. you lose so much without CONTEXT.

Pray the prayer of the sinner:

Luke 18:13 NIV
‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’

Nobody in their natural selves can do God's will. All humans become slaves to sin and can't stop. And so all are condemned for the sin they commit but can't stop doing. That's why we need salvation.

God's been waiting for you to acknowledge this. He already knows that you are a slave to sin. Now you know it. Now ask him to have mercy on you, a sinner unable to stop sinning. He'll answer your prayer and save you from the penalty of the sins you've committed and set you free from the slavery of those sins. He will give you his Holy Spirit and enable you to live for him and train you to live in a new life of living in freedom from sin.

You're right where God wants you right now--lost in sin and unable to help yourself. Reach out in faith and call out to him and he will save you and you will find the life you're looking for. That's his promise to you. Have faith in that promise by confessing your sin and your inability to stop sinning right now and he will give you the life you seek.

God, draw this person to yourself, forgive his sin and fill him with the life that only Jesus can give.

Agreed! We are ALL sinners.
