The other side of things (some which are against it) is just as cultish, they might come up behind and say something like , "This is what you get for reading the KJV, which is often translated wrong!!!"

Cults on both sides of the fence it seems

It has nothing do with my opinion. I can't prove anything to anyone who doesn't understand the subject.
Wow. Not only is this despicably arrogant and demeaning, it is yet another logical fallacy: an ad hominem attack. You can't refute an opponent's position, so you attack the opponent directly instead.

Hi P,

I don't think anyone is against the KJV on here, that hasn't been said as far as I can
see. :)

He has brought so many twists and turns into this thread, we could have
gone to the moon and back and I thought it was suppose to be us women
who were illogical and lost the plot. :p

That being said he is entitled to his opinion, he just doesn't seem to
realise others are as well so attacks them.

May I side-track just a moment to ask a question?

Are most of the topics in this Bible Discussion Forum this unfriendly? I've already figured out that I have very little business in the Politics section here because that place does get very heated, but if it's the same in Bible Discussions, then I'd like to know so I can avoid it in the future.

Hi S,

It depends, probably 50% are worse. I always kind of feel a bit dusty entering into the BDF and
seldom spend massive amounts of time here. Sometimes though I just have to get involved.

Its a pity that people can't speak face to face and hear the tone of voice, see the expressions.
Im sure it would make a big difference.

In one sense the BDF is a good education as instead of getting just one side, you get to see
all sides and its makes you definately think more about why you believe what you believe.

Miri, thank you for replying. I can see that it would be useful to see different sides of an issue, but I think for me I'd rather see them presented without all the emotions and ego tagging along, but I know that's asking a lot of people since we all have our own feelings attached to things.

David was an adulterer. Paul was a murderer. Moses was a murderer. It's not about using a perfect man, but about a perfect God preserving His words for man.

Yep, that's what we call a Divine Providence. God can use even the wicked King or the animal to accomplish His will.

All SCRIPTURE is inspired by God, not the man doing the writing. The matter at hand I am interested in is God's preservation of His pure words in the English language.

David was not inspired when he wrote Scripture. The Scripture is inspired, David preserved the Scripture by writing it down through the Holy Spirit.

It's interesting how you try to create a legitimate defense and have grabbed on to a truth to attempt to apply it to your philosophy

what you are doing here, is attempting o give the KJV credence as inspired and original because it would have to be original in order to be inspired

the KJV contains the inspiration as do the other translations, that originally was given by God, through His Spirit, to the writers and prophets

the KJV is not inspired...the NIV is inspired too if you want to make that your 'proof'

we have ORIGINALS available...so why would we need the KJV for English speaking people? That makes no sense at all...

According to you, unless you speak English and have the KJV circa 1611, you will never really have the truth

yet, we know for a fact, that the 1611 version has been corrected numerous times

and yet, you will be the first one to tell us that we must keep the commandments and only use the KJV of the Bible

David repented and Moses body was claimed by an angel

the drunk, not so much

he must have been contributing to the errors in his ...uh...altered state...hiccup

We have originals? Where?

There are no original Scriptures anywhere. They are all copies of copies of copies etc...

for some reason, your concept of God does not sound like the Holy One of Israel

again, David repented...and Moses body was claimed by an angel

the drunk was not chosen by God...that is only your wishful thinking

all of us are sinners and remain such until we accept Christ as our Savior...we don't remain drunks or unrepentant

go look it up

for someone who wants to defend what is impossible to defend and having just admitted you cannot prove the KJV is inerrant and inspired, you really should not attempt to smart aleck your way through an answer

Absolutely. What happened to the "original" Ten Commandments written with God's own hand? Moses destroyed them. Did God panic? Nope, He just allowed Moses to make a copy. That copy is Scripture. No one saw the original but Moses.
Can God preserve His words? Absolutely, because He promised He would. Again, there are no original Scripture anywhere.
