This is so true. What if people started to put up videos maligning beloved men/women of God that Jesus bled and died for like John McArthur - just because he doesn't believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit like other believers do? What Christian walking in love and with the Lord would even consider doing something like that?

We could use our "Christian" righteous anger to say that McArthur is spreading the most vile kind of heresy and is in fact a wolf. We could show a video with a snake wrapped around him for "special effects" to further show the "truth" of his apostasy and how he is leading so many others down the wrong path.

Nobody should slander and be so malice-filled toward McArthur to do such a thing to a person that the Lord has saved and loved. ( bit sadly there are websites dedicated to McArthur )

There are actually WEBSITES dedicated to showing that the apostle Paul was a heretic too because he "conflicted" with Jesus' words.
I used to listen to him,and liked his end time stuff.

I will not listen to him.

But would never stone him or attack his mantle.
He is to be treated as a believer

I agree. It would be horrible to do something like that to a member of the body of Christ - just because they believe something different than what some others do.

I personally believe people would be better off watching porn then to post foul things to slander a fellow believer in Christ. At least it wouldn't take long to see the vileness from porn and the death that it brings to people. This kind of foul stuff is some how acceptable to us. We just accept it as normal "Christian righteous anger" when we are malice-filled with others that our Lord died for.

It is no wonder people like Gandhi in the world say things like this...

:( This thread, these comments, and just the general accusations of heresy are so... tiresome. VVant to see a heretic? Look in the mirror, because you are ignorant of some things (a lot of things, to be frank), and vve all need God to bring us revelation. To guide us into all truth. Stop throvving people under the bus that are His.

Sigh...

Title of this thread...

WOF is Heresy & Should be Avoided at all Costs!

But the way some talk here, heresy should be embraced at all cost.
In the name of tolerance the Church is losing all discernment.

You'd think there is no longer such things as false prophets and teachers.

Some will poo pooh MacArthur's cessationist stance, but if another has a gift of discernment, they will revile him as if that gift is not valid. So which is it?

It's the gentleman's agreement the church seems to have settled into: don't expose my sin and I won't expose yours. Honor among thieves.

Putting money before God would be an issue which many WOF'ers seem to do.

I agree with you :). I use to watch Andrew Wommack quite a bit and even attended his online College. I have since moved away from this because of the money and healing first teachings.

I think its funny how David gets attacked like that. Jesus was prophesied to come hundreds and thousands of years before it even happened. Not every prophesy happens right after it is spoke.

The problem with deeming people heretics just because you disagree with them is that you put into question someone elses relationship with the Lord. Say, for example, the Lord told a person to read Joseph Prince's book on unmerited favor, and now you're calling Joseph Prince a heretic. VVhat does that say about that persons relationship with God? Is it real? Does God have two mouths?

VVhen people pull out the heretic card what exactly are they trying to accomplish, beyond defamation? They want people to stop listening to that person because in their own opinion the individual is in error. Yet, what decision must be made for a person God told to learn from said preacher and you're condemning said preacher? Are you bold enough to stand before God and say, "VVhy are you telling this person to learn from so and so? He is a heretic!" Or would you rather question that person's relationship with God? Did they truly hear the Lord?

You see, people need to be careful tossing around such a term. People use it too loosely and no longer is a true heretic able to be spotted because everyone is a heretic. Heresy at its root denies Christ. Jesus is our foundation. Heresy that is damnable ought to be addressed, and yes other doctrines not central to one's salvation should also be addressed but not with such tenacity that it completely obliterates a man's credentials as a spawn of satan.

Some people might find it illuminating to see themselves as the apostle Paul (at the time known as Saul) on the road to Damascus and Jesus appearing before them. Do you remember what Jesus said? The same could be said to the many people defaming God's children, accusing them of heresy and trying to ruin their image. You might glean something from the apostle Paul. Is Christ being preached? Good!

Some of you are doing more harm than good fighting so called heresy. Their position may be opposed to yours, but you've gone from correction to defamation. No longer are you leading into the truth, but lacking gentleness. You don't see the damage you could cause to those witnessing your accusations. VVho will stand to hear the Gospel from a man that they just overheard is a fraud? A liar? A heretic? You're closing ears off to the Gospel in your pride to be right. You aren't defending the truth, you're burying it by poor judgement.

This is just confusion. It's becoming evident (not that I didn't already know this) that doctrine really isn't important to WOF/hyper grace devotees.

Heresy should be avoided at all cost. That doesn't mean that the whole WOF is heresy. We have WOF preachers in Belgium, friends from the WOF Bible school, who don't earn a penny, they have a job and teach for free and help people in poor countries. If another buys himself a private yet and then all of a sudden it's all bad, why not just say christianity is bad because there have been scandals on tv?

i agree we ought to refrain from detracting fellow believers.

but that doesn't necessarily mean we shouldn't speak out against unbiblical teaching?

No, it isn't confusing. Stop attacking fellow believers by labeling them [a heretic] and distancing people from hearing, at the very least, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Most of the people that are called heretics are not heretics, but just people a person disagrees with and wishes to defame for a number of reasons (one being envy). Doctrine is important, but we are all learning. If I was to use your basis of judgement on who is a heretic you would be a heretic to me. Yet, I don't call you a heretic. VVhy? Because, I know that we are all growing and learning. The Lord is faithful. Holy Spirit is our Teacher.

The confusion, since you brought it up, is calling a person preaching Christ alone for salvation a heretic. If they at the very least have the foundation sure, people will get to Heaven. That is but the starting point, yes but its much better than a gospel that doesn't have Christ as the foundation. Too many people call others heretics too freely, yet they are ignorant to their own, funny enough, ignorance. If someone is preaching something contrary to what you believe, that doesn't immediately mean they are a heretic. They are mistaken and need someone with meekness to correct them. Hardly the approach of those calling them heretics.

It's good to warn against unbiblical teaching.
We were warned in church for teachings from health and wealth preachers, also some stuff from Prince, but he didn't say he was evil, just to watch out with certain stuff he preaches. Other names have never been named and he said it's not about Prince, just watch out with this and that what he preaches. He warned people though who wanted to visit a false teacher.
God said to him last year to watch out with all those teachings from preachers who make insanely much money of it. That's no good fruit, so there must be error in the preaching. Just always look at the fruit.
If you want to be sure you get no false teaching just don't follow big names, follow Him.

Bingo!

Now transpose "prince's forgiveness stance" over "Mcarthur's cessationism stance"
