So in your opinion, I should just sit down, shut up, and waste my mind on temporal pursuits. Deborah should have just stayed home, Anna could have enjoyed retirement, and Phillips daughters should have been more concerned about finding husbands.
Two questions Misty:

1. Do you believe the examples of Deborah, Anna, and the daughters of Philip in any way render the prohibition of 1 Timothy 2:12-15 null and void?

2. Why do you feel that honoring this prohibition is in any way an attack upon you or any other woman or that it somehow suggests that as a woman you have no value in the Church?

Shepherd = male ?

Again, everyone wants to just assume that Scripture doesn't have any female shepherds so that means there aren't any.

This is the SAME argument for women pastors too. And, it's an argument that holds as much water as Peter's faith AFTER he stopped believing he was REALLY doing it, REALLY doing it, walking on water .

And, sure, glad that the voting was 10-0 or maybe 10-1 because I'm not so sure I want to make the woman pastor up front have to have her husband holding her hand when she gives her powerful, authoritative testimony that you can be certain even though she is NOT going to ask for an altar call, WILL WIN MANY to CHRIST on 'this ' night, with what she says, IN THE SPIRIT, from the Lord to men and women in this church, and, everywhere, I forgot to tell you, she's on TV, too, this is WORLDWIDE WORD BROADCASTING SHE's on, baby :)

What does God want more than anything else, what is His great commission, what is His greatest kind of Love for us?
To BRING others to Christ :)

We should be like-minded in doing this, and, if YOUR INDERSTANDING of women pastoring, missionary-speaking , women teaching men in Scunday School is creating a Love disconnect (hate?) then, maybe, those on THAT SIDE of the fence should come over to the 'Love' side :)
You focus too much on numbers brother. Look shepherd is a masculine term. I think this whole authority thing is also a symbol of Christ being the King over His Queen, and we must not go above His Authority.

Prophesying and teaching are not the same...

I wouldn't even answer him mist, he is soooo full of his rightness, which is not Scripture, we are to Love.

I can understand that in a PERFECT ORDER that a man is in AUTHORITY over a woman.

Right? Scripture does not lie, read 1 Cor. 14:34-35 and 1 Tim. 2:11-12 and Ephesians 5 and 1 Peter 3 . ALL say the woman is to SUBMIT to the man. That's a FACT ! :)

But, also in those verses the man is to give up himself as Chrrist gave up Himself , that means, that man is to SACRIFICE for that woman who is SUBMITTING to him in marriage. And, on top of that, that MAN, husband, rather, IS submitting to Christ :)

So, it goes in the church, that a man IS first in the order, just like 1 Tim. 2:13 says, and 1 Tim. 2:14 buttresses. But, THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT a woman can NOT be 2nd in the order. She can !

And,, to WALK out of YOUR church when a woman who has been in the outskirts of Africa teaching people of God and not to listen to her testimony, oldherm ? ??? Despicable :(

Misty,

One more thing.

My previous post in this thread, addressed to you, may have come off as abrasive.
That's not how I meant it.

If it was offensive, I'd like to apologize.

I only meant to point out that we sometimes need to focus on different things than we do.
And that goes for all of us.

If she is giving a testimony the she is just sharing what God has done. Is she the primary teacher of scripture on that day and everything has been biblical up to this point? I would speak to the pastor after church and if it continued then I would move on. They could have women giving testimonys every Sunday in my opinion and still not be out of line. The line would be crossed at the point she started preaching the sermon.

If she is commanded to keep silent is she obeying this in giving her "testimony"?

I have not read all the previous posts because I simply want to address the initial issue here.

I'm about as conservative as they come, and I would not attend a church that had a female preaching on a regular basis (even if it was only once a month or so). With that said, I have no problem with one woman on one specific day giving testimony of her life's work in the mission field. And, IMHO, anyone who says they would walk out is a legalist.

I used to belong to a very conservative church. One year, for our missions conference Sunday, a life-long missionary that the church supported was giving testimony. It was the ONLY time in the many years I attended there that a woman was at the pulpit. And yes, there were some who grumbled about it. But once in five years... really? You're going to fight about that?

I believe what Paul is saying in 2 Tim is having a woman preaching/teaching on a regular basis and in leadership. That would be a no-no.

I pose a question:

There are only two churches; The first, a man is the pastor, he teaches all the Bible but Not book Revelation.

The second church, a woman is the pastor, yet she teaches all of the Bible, including the book of Revelation with understanding..

Which of those two church's would you prefer to attend ?

The question only allows for one church or the other. Nothing more , nothing less is allowed , for the question I asked .

Then the only option is the first. Whether the woman may or may not have a better understanding of a given part of the scripture than the man in no way nullifies the prohibition. She simply has no divinely appointed right to assume that position.

The first, as you have not stated the reason for not preaching Revelation. Often it is done as a way to avoid unnecesary conflict. Also, attending that church would not be disobedience on my part, as it would at the other.

EDIT:
Assuming you will modify your question in a pursuit of further turdskyism, in the event that there are sinful reasons for not preaching Revelation (don't believe in return of christ, it isn't supposed to be in the bible, etc,) then I would attend neither and enjoy the Lord at home, as it is not neccesary to have a building separate from the home.

Also, if she's teaching all of the bible she's obviously not doing a good job if she's still at the pulpit, unless it's an all ladies church.

I would rather be obedient to my slave master, than to disobey my slave master.
Romans 1:1 (HCSB)
Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle and singled out for God's good news-

Ephesians 6:6
New American Standard Bible (NASB)
6 not [a]by way of eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.

Colossians 3:24
New American Standard Bible (NASB)
24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward [a]of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.

1 Peter 2:16
New American Standard Bible (NASB)
16 Act as free men, and [a]do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as bondslaves of God.

I would not have a problem listening to a woman tell about her mission. Might be a good lecture?

"Would you walk out of your church if a woman, who was a missionary, came up to the pulpit to give her testimony ?"

Not for this simple reason... My ex wife ussually thought of herself as "a leader". Today she is out of a visible church, leading her life and our children.

I think I would leave my home if I made same mistake I did.

Why or why not?
Hi GreenNnice
no,because it is her own testamony and not preaching/teaching the word.It shouldn't matter wheather she is standing in the pulpit or standing where the members are at.
