Nothing really luvvy-duvvy at all about JesusLives response. Jesus was indeed among sinners during His earthly ministry. We should all stop being self-righteous, more loving and leading people to Jesus.
:(

Really, was there another non-sinner Jesus could be among???

Marriage - what does this ceremony mean to God and then to us?

4 He answered, “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female,
5 and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?
6 So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”
Matthew 19:
so how can a same-sex union have any part of this?
And what does it mean to my personal walk in faith with Jesus to partake in unrighteous acts before God?

Marriage is supposed to be between a woman and a man. Not two men or two women. Anything contrary is an abomination and a farce.

What's with all this self-righteous nonsense.
Standing up for the righteousness of God is not being self-righteous it is what we are commanded to do!
Actually, I was just standing up for my wife JesusLives, who also I happen to agree with. I meant no harm to you and consider you to be an outstanding Christian. Let us go in peace brother. :)

Some here ask why all the noise about homosexuals? They're no different to gamblers, or thieves, or drunks, murderers, or
atheists, etc ...
But the LTGBQYXZ alphabet cause is very very different to the many other Biblically listed sinners. Oh much more different.
Unlike the scattered sinners that make up much of society this group of sinners who love unrighteousness are organised
and have an agenda.
Not only do they want to be accepted and made equal or better than those who are not like them, but they insist that their
way of life should be shared with the young and vulnerable.
They have an agenda to destroy all that is God given, moral righteousness; heterosexual marriage; family roles of father and mother.
Redefining male and female [that is challenging the very nature of the Creation].
And not being content with the destruction of Christian society and personal morality - now they also want to come into our churches and transform Christian doctrine and faith to include their works of darkness.
So lets be nice to them. And lets be kind to them. And not oppose them or defend the gospel.
God loves you as you are. Come on in. Why not be a Sunday School teacher?

Let's not forget. We are the foreigners in this world. And we are the strangers. We are just visiting for now. The Devil is laughing while we quarrel over things we have no authority over. If you think it's a sin, don't do it if not, God will be the judge. Either way as Christians all mistakes are covered by the blood. So don't feed the Devil, he already has his share. and he will win for seven years. Until the Lord, the Angeles and the and the Saints come marching in!

No wonder there much confusion and sinning abounds.
Did no one preach to these people?
Like lemmings they are going over the cliff to perdition.
But hey let's not say anything because that might offend them now and I would be hateful and unkind in doing so.

So true.

Stating we are "not to judge the world" is such a feeble reason and terrible misapplication of scripture.

It makes me think of .... Sophie Scholl and her brother, young university students, died a martyrs death during World War II, accused in a kangaroo court and and executed in one day, leaving their family bereft,

why......because they distributed flyers against the government, were they wrong to stand up against evil and make a judgement about the world they lived?

People do not follow their arguments/faulty premises to their logical conclusions

Jesus was spending time with "sinners" so He could preach to them, not party with them and condone their sin...God hates sin because it is destructive

Exactly, it is in actuality going to a party of exposed and celebrated sin.....how does that make any sense and can it cannot be defended from scripture on any level.

Are you perfect in every way? There is no sin that you struggle with? Should your nephew shun you for your sin?

We all sin and fall short of the glory of God. Does your nephew know your feelings about the gay issue? I'm sure he probably does. My theory is that we are to love people the way God loves.

I have a good friend that is gay. He knows I don't really agree with his life style but I love him and respect him as I have and struggle with sin also just not the gay issue.

Let him without sin cast the first stone. We are all deficient in one way or another but we are to love and respect each other and plant seeds and show and live by example the way Christ loves us.

If shunning were the norm then God wouldn't have bothered to save us. But instead of shunning us He sent His Son to come and live among us and save us from our sins.....

Jesus was among sinners all the time and criticized for it. We need to stop being self righteous and start loving and leading people to Jesus.

Can you tell me how it is unloving to decline a wedding invitation of two people of the same sex, is that like casting the first stone?

14 If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.
15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or as a meddler.
16 Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name.
17 For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who
do not obey the gospel of God?
18 And “If the righteous is scarcely saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?”
1Peter 4:

You are not being honest at all.
The thread is about attending a homosexual ceremony which some are happy to also call a gay wedding.
Those of us who call for discernment are not attacking RickZ's relationship to his nephew.
Some of us are challenging the concept that a gay wedding can be a wedding or marriage at all and that a Christian ought not to
participate in honouring such a profanity.
I'm sure that RickyZ's nephew is a good citizen and all that but that is not the core issue of this thread.

What is marriage? Can homosexuals marry? Why can't gays call their ceremony a union between a same-sex couple?
Why does the rainbow warrior movement insist on imitating marriage knowing the cultural and spiritual significance of marriage
to ALL people of religion; not just Christians but also Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, etc etc etc.

This is the issue that some just keep skipping over and not addressing.
I wonder what you hope to accomplish by falsely accusing me. Do you think it promotes or solidifies your position? It does not. And, it was NOT a wedding that Ricky attended for his nephew. Nor did I accuse anyone of attacking Ricky's relationship with his nephew. You make ridiculous assertions: Claiming that to attend such an event brings it before God as if He could not see it already, saying to do so you are partaking of their sin, as if you are committing homosexual acts yourself. You even act as if having a drink is a sin despite the FACT that Jesus made many gallons of wine for wedding guests to drink, and that it is recommended in Scriptures under certain circumstances, also. You refused to address those issues when I questioned your ridiculous unbiblical assertions, though, including the issue of there being only one unforgivable sin.

My first post in this thread:
I came in here to support Ricky, who was being criticized and condemned for the choice he made.

My second post in this thread, responding to a question concerning how to speak to people:
Perhaps one of these... ?

Proverbs 15:1-2
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of the fool spouts folly.

Proverbs 15:18
A hot-tempered man stirs up strife, but he who is slow to anger calms dispute.

Proverbs 25:15
Through patience a ruler can be persuaded, and a gentle tongue can break a bone.

Proverbs 10:12
Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.

Proverbs 28:25
He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.
My third post in this thread:
Jesus did not condemn the woman caught in adultery when they wanted to stone her. Jesus's response was, let those among you who have not sinned, cast the first stone. Guess what? Everybody walked away. His command to us is to LOVE others.
My next couple of posts are on page 14, addressing issues regarding who the law is for. My next post is on page 19, regarding pedophilia in answer to a question UnderGrace asked, where I also provided Scriptures. So Mr. Waggles, it seems you would like to DICTATE to me what I should be responding to, and what the thread should be about for me because YOU and others have chosen to make it about that, but you are not the boss of me no matter how much you would like to be... and I thank God for that! I am free to respond as I see fit, to what speaks to me.

My next post:
1 Corinthians 5:9 I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— 10 not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. 11 But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people.

12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 13 God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked person from among you.”
Followed by:
Ricky... I want to thank you for being an exemplar of Christ, Who came to this
earth to meet us where we are as sinners, in order to demonstrate the love of God.
It seems to me that Ricky has acknowledged the "gay lifestyle" as a sin, and that his nephew is well aware of that fact. So where, exactly, is the problem?
Jesus did not stay home. He came to walk this world among sinners despite the fact that we are sinners, knowing He would not be received, be despised, rejected, and killed. He did this to demonstrate God's love for us despite the fact that we are sinners.
I have wondered something along similar lines, for a theme has presented itself that suggests that to be in the presence of something is to partake of that same thing, and that is simply not true. If it were, Jesus would be a sinner... and we know He is not.
You even disagreed with this ^^ You may as well call Jesus a sinner. Shame on you.

Ricky will be ready if and when his nephew asks. I support him in this.

Our nephew, who is one of the most respectful and responsible people I know,
is marrying his boyfriend.
Do we go out of respect for him,
or stay away because of the gay issue?
If you were being married, I'm sure he would attend and not stay away because
of the "straight issue".
Go because he is your nephew and you love him.
Hi...
Please excuse me as I do not know the Scripture which says this , but does God not say that those in sin , if we support them , we will be found as guilty as the person who is sinning...
Would it not be better to refuse the wedding , and show him why with Scriptures , just my thought...xox...
The fact he's marrying his boyfriend tells you he isn't really a Christian. Like Ahwatukee said, by attending this so-called wedding, you'd be condoning his behavior. Just explain to him that you won't be attending.
If your nephew really understands and knows your walk with Christ, he probably
won’t expect you to attend but might ask out of politeness.
In other words it shouldn’t come as a surprise to him if you say you can’t attend.
Wish him well but just politely decline and leave it at that. It’s not necessary to
give a reason.

What if I avoid the ceremony but attend the reception?
The wedding was yesterday, and actually very few were invited. Today is the reception and we are going. For one thing, I don't get to choose, my life has been dictated to me since the day I was born and will be until the day I die. Too, at this point, I don't think I have any standing to throw stones or remove splinters. So I'll hold my nose, bite my tongue, and try to be as non-existent as I normally am anyway.
@Waggles, you responded to Ricky saying it was the reception.

Are you trying to pretend now that you did not??? (n):censored:

The thread was about should I attend a same-sex wedding - with some complications due to the person involved being a nephew.
You and others managed to turn it into a thread about good Christians who are gentle and kind versus bad Christians who
are not kind and gentle because they would not attend a homosexual "wedding."
You and others made the thread much about the nephew and called out those who use scripture to explain their beliefs and
stand on the "gay issue" as hateful, unchristian, unkind, lacking love, not getting dirty with sinners, and the like.

And now we have sinners in our churches publicly challenging Christian doctrines on sin and righteousness and on salvation.
Publicly declaring that to have a contrary doctrinal belief (especially in support to the literal meanings of scripture) is
HOMOPHOBIC - the fear of homosexuals. What a put down. Now evil is good and good is evil.

Same thing. Still being there.
How dishonest are you? We are finding out :(

Actually, I countered some lies you told, and lies others told, and stated my position of supporting Ricky, which you and others attacked me for. I defended with SCRIPTURE and the truth of my intent which you called dishonest because you want to dictate what my participation should be.
