I bleed Pittsburgh Black-N-Gold, but if the Steelers sign Kaphole, I'll turn my back on them hard core. No more bi-annual games, no more shirts, sweatshirts, mugs, shot glasses -- nothing, until he and all current management are gone.

Go ahead lets see your link to your ex serviceman/trooper/atheist friend who lives in an apt building in a rural area next to a gay vegetarian couple who doesn't like the star spangled banner. And I'm gonna go ask the local zoo's monkeys uncle about the second verse of the national anthem real quick. Hold on.
This is why it's impossible to have a rational conversation with you because you keep twisting what I say and spouting irrelevant nonsense. The second verse of the national anthem is easily available with a Google search. Also this country has a long reputation and treating veterans like crap so I could understand why some veterans would betrayed by their country... why do you think a lot of Vietnam veterans came home and became War protesters?

To me the freedom of each individual, be it on the pitch or in the service or where it migth be the most important thing.

BUT! If a person wont stand up straight, hand over heart, during the national anthem, the disrespect of the country and the anthem is on full display. There's no way of trusting that person again.

PRE Montana Niners fan here, and I rooted for them to lose this year. Plus, I really didn't like Chip Kelly's scheme, and how he used Tim Tebow in Philadelphia.

Tebow played very well in preseason, and Kelly used him as a publicity stunt and then discarded him.

I can cheer them again, as both guys are GONE!

Speaking of someone spouting nonsense. Here is the second verse of the star spangled banner that OBVIOUSLY talks about murdering slaves.

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe’s haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o’er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning’s first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
‘Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Vietnam was a police action not a war. And it did cause a lot of veterans to swing left because they were used and abused and not allowed to win the "war" because of politicians and profiteers. And you and I are in agreement that we should take care of veterans. Have you seen how much an illegal alien gets in welfare vs a veteran? It's appalling! And as far as rational....that ship sailed, hit an outcropping of rocks and sank a ling time with you a long time ago. Not saying there isn't hope for you but recognizing the problem is the first step in recovery.

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore,
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion
A home and a Country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash’d out their foul footstep’s pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave,
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

I've never sang that verse in any shape or form and it is not part of the star spangled banner. Now you're just making up fake conflict to bolster your anti American hatred.

only thing we accomplished in Vietnam was that a lot of young men lost their lives for no reason. You might be familiar with the Gulf of Tonkin which was like completely fabricated incident. We could have won that conflict but it was decided that it wasn't worth the civilian casualties it would have taken to defeat the Vietcong. Indian many of them came home and got the crap beat out of them by the police for protesting.

Also find it amusing that some people call themselves Patriots but hate their fellow Americans for disagreeing with them politically

It was the beginnings of the police state we are in now....and guess who were its architects. You guessed it...the democrats and their phony opponents the republicans.

You made the assertion. It's your obligation to prove it. Good luck! I don't know anyone who has served in combat or a police officer that isn't a patriot that loves American and the national anthem and the flag. So my sample is 100% in favor. So I would bet that your ex military trooper friend who lives in an apt building next to a gay transvestite couple that run the local peta chapter in a rural area is a very small minority.

I'm not exactly sure how you want me to prove a conversation I had with two friends on Facebook. I suppose I could dig through and try to find the conversations and provide screenshots. Neither of them are members here as neither of them are Christian.

Also you're twisting my words again because I never said they arent Patriots. They simply acknowledge other people's constitutional rights to choose not to stand for the anthem.. the same constitutional rights they went to war and fought. for... if you can't understand this concept then I honestly don't know what to tell you

Maybe just be a little more consistent in the future. It's funny because here in Mt there was this radio jockey who made a blog about how awful the Indian schools were in regards to their sportsmanship, slashing opposing schools tires on their buses and fans vehicles and spewing vitriol at white people who came to their schools to play a basketball game. And that maybe it was time for segregated tournaments. Everybody screamed racism and this guy who has been on the air for decades got fired by clear channel radio.

Now it's tournament time and these native coaches are giving star quits to other teams coaches and everyone is on their best behavior. I think it's cool but it probably is nothing more than short lived politically correct showmanship now that the spotlight is on them. Hopefully it holds and next year the refs don't need armed guards. And hopefully Paul gets his job back because I've listened to him every morning for 2 decades.

I understand the concept just fine. Lot's of people are misguided. They have a right to be....and I have a right to point it out.

And I would never disrespect the American flag because that's a very gluteus maximus orifice thing to do. However some are of the opinion that real patriotism is about loving your fellow Americans...all of them.... regardless of political opinions.... not worshipping a piece of cloth

Love is subjective. And the kind of love the bible talks about God possessing is one that loves people how they need to be loved vs how they want to be. And aren't we supposed to at least attempt to love like God does? I'll continue loving people how they NEED to be loved at the given time and how I discern they need it. Sometimes it's better in the long run to let an alcoholic sleep in the gutter then to let him sleep in your bed.

You don't love me cuz you made me sleep in the gutter. Nope...I loved you because I LET you sleep in the gutter....the bed you made for yourself.
