I'm fine with marking pedophiles and rapist, but be sure beyond a reasonable doubt they are guilty. Misdemeanors should never be included. In Virginia, sexual battery is such a lesser offense that when the magistrates issue the warrant, it is made as a summons meaning the police don't arrest the guy, they just give him a copy with a court date yet being convicted will get a person the rest of their lives on a list that the general public believes he's on for all sorts of atrocities.

Most all of the officers I know and have worked with are also totally against the Public Registry. They say that in every way, it has caused them more work, and has caused them to completely lose track of more of the really dangerous criminals than you can shake a stick at.

I think that is victimizing girls, and I think that we should be real careful about doing that out of respect for victims of real sexual battery. Back whenever I was a young girl/teenager, we handled boys doing that in our manner...but police...oh no...lol
Way back in 2001. :p

Public registries beyond the census are by and large a bad idea.

My primary concern has always been the children. That is why I am against this desire so many people have. The public "marking" of these people actually makes the world far less safe for any children they may target in the future.

If he was determined by the system full of people who have careers in determining if someone is safe to be in the community to be eligible for release into the community why do you have to step in and assume you know better and say it is wrong.
