Transgenders are persons that are born with a specific set of gender specific traits and make the choice to become the other gender.

Persons born with both sets of genitalia used to be known as Hermaphrodites and more commonly known as Intersex today and there is a specific genetic abnormality that causes it. Some intersex persons are surgically modified at birth to remove the "extra" parts but it often creates more problems later in life than what it solves for them in their younger years.
Thanks for the info - I probably could have looked it up myself but it is not a topic I am particularly interested in.

Sometimes its not so easy to tell. I hate the ones that are like fillies or colts or whatever. I've almost stopped someone and asked which one is which! Say women or men, please.
We had someone that worked in our mail room at work and people on the floor kept talking is it a male or female... I got tired of hearing the noise and the next time said person hit our floor I went up to them and said hi my name is Darlene, what's yours? Angie she replied...... the noise stopped.... and I had made a new friend.

ha! I watched a 50 min broadcast debate on BBC yesterday that dealt with this issue..apparently transgender...I think more the males who switch to female, seem to think that society MUST accept and legislation should be passed to ensure that happens

I prob would not have normally watched such a thing, but I did for some reason and I am glad that I did cause I am better informed of the issues and how it appears to be affecting the majority who are born male or female and don't have a problem with it

I tried to find a link to the debate but so far have not found it

the panel consisted of a transgender female and male and the other side was a lesbian and a male lecturer/teacher/philosopher whose sexual preference escaped me

the transgender female...who still looks very manish despite the makeover...was all about hurt feelings and how joe public just had to be conformed to her image of a perfect society...ie legislate until the cows come home...the lesbian on the other side was all up in arms and made the argument that women (born a woman)...were being bullied by transgenders. She further made the point, that transgender women attempt to go ultra feminine; ie rather artificial in make up, hair, clothes etc which I would agree with

The philosopher made the point that what is being overlooked, is that legislation generally will protect the minority at the expense of the majority...which is my argument for any type of manipulation attempting to nullify the exact right we supposedly have, to express an opinion without someone suing us over it because it infringes on their 'rights' or if not that, then it is referred to as hate speech (sorry for the run on sentence)

people from the audience were also given some time to express a view or ask a question after the debate

interestingly, at the end of the debate, the voting for or against the proposed legislation had changed in percentage as to where people would vote. it changed from 4% against the legislation to 25% against it

see, people generally don't seem to pay much attention unless it affects them or theirs personally...but when paying attention and the facts are presented and both sides make available their views, things shift

the subject of public toilets did come up and a third transgender option for same, was tossed out

time to put on the breaks
This is a slight variation on the same theme. In a paper today 22/4. A woman with twin boys dresses one as a Girl and he goes to School in a Girls uniform. She said he has wanted to be a Girl since he was 18 months old and plays with his elder Sisters toys. She said she was reluctant to comply with his demands at first but seeing how happy he is as a Girl she decided to allow him to be one. His Head teacher consents to it. How can a Child age 18 months decide to be a different Gender it beggars belief. I think the Mother who is a single Parent needs some serious counseling and the teacher sacked.

It is a sad day indeed.
Went to Wal Mart last week with my wife and daughter and stood guard at the restroom door untill they came out.

Oh c'mon. She has more sense than that.

Like the many of Trump's right-leaning supporters, she would probably dodge the question and throw in a red herring to boot.

I don't understand why they have these open pee things for men. I always take my boys to the ladies room and think it's normal if a man comes there too with his daughters.
Just have closed doors for everyone. Problem solved.

Agree with coby here. I wouldn't mind a shared bathroom if there are proper stalls (and people manage to aim....)
I mean, it can't cost THAT much to have floor- to - roof walls around each toilet, can it?

as for the predator theory: If a man or woman intends to do something illegal, they find ways of doing it, whether or not there are transgender bathrooms.

I heard from a former homosexual that that whole problem started when he was a kid and a man acted filthy in a men's bathroom and he saw it. Why only protect girls?
I don't want my kids to see some grown up man peeing. I had a date with an almost blind man and had to open and close the door for him when he had to go. Also they have those things in front of each other, ladies and men rooms and sometimes they're even too lazy to close the door. If they don't have manners just have closed doors for them please.

Hi,

being a little bit more up to date here or should I say, get it right .

We have loo,s that are used by both male and female each one is its own unit so no matter who,s in its private and no stand up thing,es for men its a all sit down on the loo,s , Oh forgot men can stand up and ........ ya well

And we have other loo,s set up for Moms and or Dad,s to take their kids in as they are bigger so a wheel chair or prams can go in Jos and I used them for our Kids years ago and I did with our Grand kids , ,

We don't seem to have issues here in Kiwi land , plus on our streets in Waimate where I live look it up on the Map you,ll see two close together that any one can use male and , female and push a pram in as well . so time to look beyond your backdoor and see how we do things over sea,s and maybe take it from us it works problem solved ,

When I was at training camp Army in this case the loo,s were used by men and women all in the same building no walls in side men and women together , sitting in that case we did not have any issues we worked to gether and got on well .

I know theres a big debate going on that seems to be very strongly divided and as to cost to change ours we started out from go to all done with one works for all ,

The any store that has trans gendered rest rooms will loose your surpport , well we,v covered that in many out lets with out issue,

...noeleena...

I signed an online petition against Target yesterday. On the first day 200,000 people had signed. I'd say this is something the majority of the country does not want. The ball is in Targets court now. See who they cave to.

us too, but our women-folk rarely used that so it was never really an issue haha

My sister lives on a huge property with lots of trees and hidden from the highway. Her husband used to let my nephew got to the bathroom outdoors. My sister said it was a bad thing to teach him but her husband would still let him do it when she wasn't looking. Till one day they were at the church picnic...
yep! My sister said "look over there at your son". There he was, cheeks to the world, peeing in the bushes. Luckily he was young enough that people had a great laugh about it. Guess who learned to go indoors after that?
