that's right

but there is that tone in your post that indicates you believe someone somewhere is getting a bad rap from white people

I am Canadian and I honestly did NOT grow up with prejudice against black people...one of my best friends was black while in school.

however, living now in the states, I am appalled at the language from politicians and so called leaders of the black community

not to mention the riots that have gone on and how about black people rioting and destroying businesses in their own community?

the constant constant race card is done on purpose with the intent of stirring up discontent as though white people had one thing on their mind and that would be to put down black people
I have said in post awhile back I do not believe in rioting and destruction of property. I do believe in peaceful protests.
I don't like racism or prejudice in any form. I was not raised that way. I am from the south and saw lots of it and have plenty of personal testimonies to it.

My God daughter is white, her mother and I grew up on the same street and remained friends all of this time. She spent the night at my house and me at hers. I love this little girl and treat her as my own. She has her own room in my home. I get that everyone has their own experiences as to why they feel the way that they do but one shouldn't have the same opinion about all based on a few.

as I explained in my post above, I do live by what I wrote

again, you do have that tone because I did not make the leotard your personal attire...but you decided that I did

far too defensive, and that indicates a chip on the shoulder

I'm going to move along now, because there is no solution other than to change the rhetoric by black leaders who bang on the anti-white drum all day long and then smirk on tv when they get the vitriol they desire from people whose emotions are easy to sway...that does include some white people who need to get a life
No chip just responding to post HERE as they are made. I agree there is rhetoric being spewed from both sides. I also agree to move along and the rhetoric of many needs to change not just the black leaders. No leader is right all of the time.

There seems to never be a compromise or an understanding.

I keep telling you that I do not have a bad taste in my mouth for all Blacks. I still see Hattie's children, and I adored her. But when it comes to looking for someone with good work ethics in CONSTRUCTION JOBS, I won't even consider a Black person anymore.

Yeah you've made that point several times.

Oh and follow your own advice try seeing people as individuals, make sure your leotard fits you well before trying to adjust mine.
You wear leotards? I admire people (well, mostly women) who CAN wear leotards and not look really ridiculous... I, myself, look pretty silly in them...... ok, TMI....

HoneyDew.... I know you are more sensitive to any appearance of anti-black racism, but I really don't think Willie is any kind of racist. I think he was taught (by experience) that it would be difficult to find black construction workers that were any good.... I don't see him saying that there are NO black construction workers anywhere that are any good, but that was simply his experience, in his location.

Much like my wife, who grew up going to school with about 80% Hispanic, and 15% blacks, and she was a really cute, petite white girl with blonde hair..... she had nothing but trouble from all of them... the guys were always trying to pinch, poke, grope, or simply make crude sexual suggestions to her....and the girls all hated her because she was a petite white blonde... all through high school. I mean ALL through high school... about 8th grade on up. That kind of experience will definitely "taint" your view of an ethnicity. She still struggles with her prejudice against Hispanics.. it's difficult to get past that kind of thing.

I'm not trying to justify any kind of racism, but we should be aware of other people's experiences, and how they can affect our daily lives.

I'm sure that you have experiences that affect the way you view the world, as well.... I think we all do.

I don't think anyone here thinks that all black people are low-life, or second class people.... some are, many are not. Just like whites, or Hispanics.... some are just pure white trash, but many are not.

Thank you for your response.

Surely you can understand that seems to be all I see here is the blacks this and the blacks that. Over and Over and over. I'm like dang it people, REALLY? I'm sorry but some of the people here helped me to view it this way.

Someone here even sent me a pm saying, "Incase you were wondering I unfriended you because I didn't want THEM to turn on me because I was friends with you."

LOL really. I won't out the person but ...just LOL at this place sometimes.

It's always white people telling another race how to look at the situation at hand.

If you're white, you should close the lips because you have not had experience to speak on. If you're not in their neighborhood, banks when they get denied, at Washington getting turned down, getting turned down simply because the color of skin... whites are clueless about what blacks go through because you don't live in their reality...

Telling one black no BC he's black and other blacks were unreliable, is racist

You just misused the word whom ....
But anyway..... yes I was actually trying to look past all the rhetoric from the left but this is absolutely unacceptable.
There was a US state representative in the car and heard every word that was said because the phone was on speaker. I saw her interviewed on my local news this morning.
How was the word Whom misused?

Thank you.

Everyone: as prejudiced as she believes I am, HoneyDew still accepted my "friend" request. Pretty cool of her.

HoneyDew, I think you are the very first person I have ever sent a request to in the nearly three years I have been here.

There's a stereotype that Mexicans will work their butts off. From what I've witnessed it seems to be pretty much true. When I worked at a chicken processing plant in Mayfield Kentucky probably like 90% of my department was either Mexican or Guatemalan

We all hate to admit it, but Stereotypes develop for a reason. And that is usually because of repeated experiences that tend to prove the stereotypes to be largely true.

They even made a movie out of one.... White Men Can't Jump.

I hear what you are saying, but to a black sister or brother in the Lord, who may be twice the worker of any here, pre-judging someone on their skin color IS racist.

Why should the few, or even the ONE, be cast in a poor light because of the actions of others? Praise God He doesn't sweep the whole lot of us sinners away in one fell swoop!

Aside from that, I have plenty of anecdotal accounts of awesome, hard working black Americans both in my secular job, and on the missions trips I've been on.
There was no pre-judging, and to mention that is to assert that I had.

I didn't sweep the whole lot under the rug or whatever but you desire to make it appear that way, then heap praise on yourself because you've worked with some of a certain skin pigmentation and they worked hard. But that is how people are, they'll step on someone else, assert things never stated, and lift themselves up.

Congrats, you did one fine job!

Anyhow, that was one job, but many are conditioned to believe the mention of it is condemning of all and that it makes the person a broad-brushing racist, which is what you're attempting to imply. People love to point at others and allege their racism. Makes them feel superior I suppose.

Not me. Political correctness has no place in me. And for the record, I was raised by a black family for a portion of my life. I still like ham hocks and greens over cornbread. That probably makes me racist too. It probably makes me racist that I like cashew chicken at the Asian restaurants. And sushi, must mean that about Japanese. I like pasta too, must hate Italians as well. Love bratwurst too, probably racist against Germans. :D

That's sweet-sounding. But are you willing to reimburse me for the hundreds and hundreds of dollars I went through trying to hold out for that 36th man? Of course you aren't. And I don't blame you. But, at the same time, don't expect me to help you fill your Pity-Bucket with tears.
No. I'm not gonna give you anything. Doesn't change the truth of my post. Doesn't matter how many you go through. I'd still expect you not to look at someone's skin color and judge that INDIVIDUAL by his or her color.

And I don't have a bucket, pity or otherwise. If they're bums than fire them. If they break the law throw em in jail, if they attack a police officer shoot them, but treat them as individuals.

Geesh. This is basic stuff. How can you judge a group instead of an individual? This is what drives me crazy about the left. That is exactly what they do.

Btw. I have been a victim of affirmative action. I was blatantly told that a black guy was getting a promotion because they didn't have enough black supervisors.
It was wrong then for them to even consider race, and it's wrong now. You must have a terrible process for checking resume's.

I feel like a big problem with the black community is that they have allowed themselves to become brainwashed by liberal propaganda. Any black man who has conservative views is called a coon or an Uncle Tom.
Malcolm X addresses a lot of these issues in his ballot or the Bullet speech

99% of the people working Construction Jobs may not even know how to spell resumé.
