This article is a must read!

Now, usually I like to thumb through the New York Times... For a conservative it is somewhat liberal but I like several of the writers and you can get a pretty good view of what's trending... But this article I found somewhat troubling about several religious organizations view on same sex marriage... So called "Christians" jumping on the band wagon to align themselves and doctrine away from traditional teachings... reinterpreting verse to correlate with the new law... Do not get the wrong impression about the headline, the "gets little attention" only refers to media attention... A similar piece also appeared in the Washington Post on Friday...

Push Within Religions for Gay Marriage Gets Little Attention

JULY 24, 2015

From the moment the Supreme Court ruled last month in favor of a constitutional right to same-sex marriage, opponents placed the decision in a very specific analytical frame. Here, they contended, was an egregious example of secular culture triumphing over religious values and religious freedom.

“Profoundly immoral and unjust,” the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops said in a statement. The Orthodox Union, the national association of Orthodox Jewish congregations, declared its “emphatic” and “unalterable” religious opposition to same-sex marriage. The prominent evangelist Franklin Graham reiterated that God had created marriage between man and woman and said, “His decisions are not subject to review or revision by any man-made court.”....

Romans 16:17
I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them.
It remains my hope that all folks who have any understanding of morality would reject this unlawful act and work in a evident way to undermine it, even if the court itself has to be reformed in some way.

Now that SCOTUS has kicked open the door, I can't help but wonder will older people be allowed to marry younger people in their own family for reasons of financial planning (no sexual relations, of course). In many states, this would allow a person's estate to pass to younger adult family member such as a son, grandson, nephew, niece, etc... free of inheritance and estate taxes. I'm sure someone will think of it soon and try it as a lot of money is involved.

Good point...now that marriage has no traditional meaning or value...but lets be honest, this is not about fairness its about strait forwarded leftwing politics.

Scott Walker: Constitutional amendment on gay marriage is not a top priority[/h]RED OAK, Iowa. -- Scott Walker still supports amending the U.S. Constitution to allow states to ban gay marriage, but he said on Friday afternoon that making such a change would be difficult and not the best use of a president's influence.

"To me, I think the most appropriate and timely focus for the next president is to focus on defending religious liberties," Walker said during a town hall attended by about 60 people in this small town in southwest Iowa.

When the U.S. Supreme Court issued its landmark decision in late June allowing gay marriage in all 50 states, Walker deemed the court's action a "grave mistake" that should be reversed by amending the Constitution so that each state can decide if it wants to allow gay marriages or not. Walker's stance frustrated some of his donors and supporters, who worried that while taking such positions could help Walker win primaries in early voting states, it could hurt him during a general election. Walker, who is currently the governor of Wisconsin, also clashed with his two college-aged sons who support gay marriage. He rarely mentions gay marriage on the campaign trail...

...followed by civilization decline and ultimately replacement (barring sweeping systemic reform). I think we'd have to see a sweeping revival at this point wide and deep enough to actually reform our increasingly immoral and corrupt government and societal systems to avoid it. A Constitutional amendment that marriage be defined as one man and one woman in holy matrimony would need to be part of that along with a legislative removal of at least two SCOTUS members. The odds of that appear remote as of this date.

Texas delays altering gay spouse's death certificate

DALLAS — A man whose husband died in January said he will sue the state of Texas for refusing to change his spouse's death certificate to reflect their marriage.

John Stone-Hoskins, 36, of Conroe, Texas, has received the death certificate for his husband, James Stone, from the Texas Department of State Health Services. But the document lists Stone as single and refers to Stone-Hoskins as "significant other," meaning he is not entitled to Stone's estate.
"It looks to me like we're headed back to federal court," Stone-Hoskins said.

The couple married in August in New Mexico, where same-sex marriage was legal at the time. By mid-January after a diagnosis of a genetic autoimmune disease called Sjögren's syndrome, Stone, 32, decided to take his own life and died without a will...

So ...

The question is, why did Hoskins "marry" Stone in the first place? For the money? That seems to be his major concern here. Does he not have a job? A pension of his own? Why is he more concerned about the estate than he is about his "marriage" being recognized?

This one my daughter sent to me from a legal news brief she gets....Now that the closet door is open... wow... what's next... see how they are connecting gay marriage to Polygamy. then to Chimps?? That's quit a leap...

NY Judge cites Sup Ct Same-Sex Marriage ruling in Chimp freedom case
LI August 1, 2015

A New York State Judge recently denied an attempt by a group acting for Tommy the Chimp to obtain habeas corpus relief. (Full embed at bottom of post.)

But in so denying relief, the judge predicted possible future change citing the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in the same-sex marriage case. #Seriously.

Now we have covered the slippery slope as much as anyone in the area of polygamy and polyamorous clusters, including in light of the recent Supreme Court ruling on same-sex marriage:

I posted the above news article(s) to show the "fall out" of the Gay Marriage ruling... There are large number of polygamists groups across the US now screaming for equal rights to marry multiple partners... due to the way the new law is written they may not be able to deny them the right... then this judge in NY using this new law to protect chimps... the new law is written in such a vague manner that it has left a Pandora's box open for all types of immoral behavior to become legal...

On what rational basis does NY State now deny polyamorous clusters the right to marry?

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality...

In Romans, the apostle Paul shows that the origin of a depraved society or civilization is rooted in the human refusal to acknowledge God as God (Rom 1:18–23). Paul then goes on to show that in the context of this rejection of God, human societies and life deteriorates and degenerates (Rom 1:24–32).

This process (sometimes referred to as the "divine abandonment" in theology) is a process encompassing three successive stages beginning with a society's refusal to retain the only true, living, creator God and a correct exegesis of His Word.

Stage two is the resulting slide into depravity marked by unnatural sin which propagates until it wields authority over the society or civilization. Persecution of the righteous manifests in this stage as the righteous come into conflict with the unrighteous who now wield societal authority.

Stage three is marked by divine judgment, societal or civilization decline, and eventual replacement.

The current iteration of Western Civilization is presently in stage two and unless repentance and reform occurs, will suffer decline and eventual replacement.

As Hugo Grotius stated:

"As they deserted God, God in turn deserted them; not giving them divine (that is, supernatural) laws, and suffering them to corrupt those which were human; not sending them prophets, and allowing the philosophers to run into absurdities. He let them do what they pleased, even what was in the last degree vile, that those who had not honored God, might dishonor themselves."

That argument has already been put forth; Legal brief....

SCOTUS case which granted gay couples marriage recognition nationwide. …Why all the hostility? Giving polyamorous clusters the right to marry doesn’t demean your marriage, does it? You don’t have to get divorced just because a threesome wants equality.Who argued in 2009 that polygamy must be allowed for the same reasons as same-sex marriage, as we detailed in “Polygamy would have to be permitted".
She went further, and would allow some incestuous relationships to be blessed by the state, but that’s a whole other thing. as to polygamy, there really was no justifiable state interest in banning the practice, particularly if past unequal gender roles were addressed by more modern polyamorous considerations: “Polygamy would have to be permitted.”
More inflamatory was her position on incest between siblings. While willing to draw a bright line on parent-child incest because of the compelling state interest in fighting child abuse, Nussbaum nonetheless applied the deconstructive analysis to sibling incest and found the state interest to be marginal....

Humiliatus, that's a liberal progressive professor making that argument not SCOTUS. SCOTUS has not ruled either way on the issue of incestual marriage. But now that they've rejected the sexual ethic God's special revelation (e.g. scripture), and secular humanism allows for such "marriages," what basis will they be proceeding on? Stay tuned.

what basis will they be proceeding on? ... its going to be on the grounds of equality and protection under the law... which where both arguments for gay marriage... to take advantage of marriage equality; equitable distribution property laws, medical consents and tax advantages... not to mention the discrimination factures... a flood gate was open with gay marriage... allowing for all forms of alternative living arrangements...

gay marriage will continue to fester as a cloud above each church.....because gov and law steps in when gays feel slighted...churches will have to make some choices...either continue to exist and comply or crumble under the weight of moral decay....

Well if they complied they would only further crumble under their moral decay. Another alternative is to go underground if it came to that.

But how can SCOTUS restrict marriage, using their secular post-modern humanist construct that fallaciously asserts atheism and religious pluralism simultaneously within the context of philosophical relativism which itself is a fallacious philosophical position, to animate objects?

I mean, now that the justice systems in Western Civilization have discarded God and His Word with respect to marriage and the sexual ethic, why can't someone marry an inanimate object?

Say...
