Okay I'm gonna take a leap here and say 'whats with the disrespectful comments'. Seriously? Take a look at the bible.. Jesus describes the homosexual lifestyle as 'an ABOMINATION' before the Lord.
Think of something you view as 'perverted' .. is that not 'YUCK' to you? The very thought of it is sickening to the core right? Well, to those of us who understand and value the institution of marriage as God intended, the 'Homosexual' lifestyle is YUCK.. it's a turn off. Ask a homosexual what they think of the hetrosexual lifestyle.. they'd probably say the same thing.
Everyone here ranting on about respect.. I'm sorry, but in all honesty you are part of the problem. The problem in todays society is that instead of taking a stand, we hide under the banner of 'tolerance', then we complain when our nation declines into a cesspool of immorality and wonder 'how did that happen?'.
Personally, I find the homosexual lifestyle as disgusting, I agree with Robo it is 'Yuck'. To me it's vile, and it's a violation of Gods laws. HOWEVER, I acknowledge that homosexuals are still human beings. I know many homosexual people, and while I do not agree with their lifestyle choice, I can still respect them as a human being. If I am asked, I won't shy away from telling them what I believe and why, but I won't go up to every homosexual person I see and ram it down their throat uninvited. Rather, I'd spend my time trying to be a better example to them wherever I can.
I don't believe 'respect and tolerance' are the answer. I'm sorry, but I don't. Here in Australia I have seen that approach turn our nation into rapid decline. In the quest to be a 'Multi-cultural' nation where immigrants feel welcome, we have allowed our own cultural belief systems (which have been a part of this nation for eons- it's who we are) to be trampled on and as a result we can no longer be AUSSIE without fear of 'offending' someone. We can no longer be what was once known as a CHRISTIAN nation, for the same reason.
Well, I say it's time to take a stand. This whole same-sex marriage debate has been going on here for sometime too, and is slowly heading in the same direction. Soon we're gonna have to wary of things we say/do for fear of offending the homosexual community. The thing is, all of these people we're so carefully treading around, have come into our society boots and all with no consideration for how their opinions are affecting us, but rather they come in demanding everything under the sun (whilst offending many) and we pander to their every whim (to keep the peace so to speak). Shouldn't we as Christians be taking a stand. Shouldn't we stand firm and actually say 'You know what? No. I'm not okay with this, and here's why...' I mean, we're people too right?
But sadly, instead of doing that we say nothing, or we preach 'tolerance' and then watch the world fall into sin deeper each day, then complain about how corrupt things have become. Is that not the biggest oxymoron ever? Jesus wasn't 'Tolerant'.. he preached the word..
I Timothy 1:9-11
9 We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers,
10 for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine
11 that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.
AND
Revelation 21:8
But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the
sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
AND
1 Corinthians 6:9-11
9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers
will not inherit the kingdom of God?
Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men
[a] 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Yeah, no tolerance there. It's VERY clear. If people willingly choose to engage in such a lifestyle, they will not inherit the Kingdom of God... hence there is no such thing as a Gay Christian (but thats an entirely different debate). However, my point is God wasnt tolerant. He said REPENT and TURN FROM YOUR WAYS.. so why are we not doing the same?
*end rant*
