Do you honestly think the Christian screams to the contrary are ever going to be drowned out by a bunch of men getting domestic partnership certificates down at the town hall?

... oh my.

You do. Well, we're not that numerous and you're all just that loud.
How many millions of people do you think got that email from the President of the United States? Just take a wild guess.

Anyone??

Bueller?

Bueller?

*sigh* well this is BIG news.. it even made the font page of my local newspaper, and I'm in a regional town in Australia! There's even a picture of a gay couple in Illinois all smiley and happy at being able to now legally marry.

Sooo you're all kidding yourselves if you don't think this is a big deal or that it wont have much impact.

As much as I can't stand our current Prime Minister for all of her immoral views and th.e junk she is inflicting on this nation, at least she is still taking a stand against gay marriage in this nation.

Well RoboOp I think that you are YUCK in every respect. Or at least your opinions. And if I lived close to where you are living I would stay far, far away from you.
One suggestion: You need to be more respectful, I wouldn't have worded his displeasure with that word either tbh, but that doesn't give you the right to be disrespectful.

I saw this on the news yesterday and it both surprised me and at the same time it didn't...I was kinda guessing that he was supportive of it but to actually declare in fron of a nation that he supports gay marriage is a BIG DEAL. As some others said, this will cause a lot of confusion to people, especially little children. :(. They are just making it harder for homosexuals who want to turn fromm their sin since their country is telling them they don't have anything to repent from. There is no way to combat sin if you don't even recognize sin as sin.....

At least he's not saying that gays aren't welcome on here people...
LOL!!!!

What? So he is sort of saying "You gays are disgusting but okay, you can be here, Yuck!!".

I know you hate parallels but here comes some:

"At least he's not saying that black people aren't welcome on here people.."

"At least he's not saying that Catholics aren't welcome on here people.."

"At least he's not saying that Americans aren't welcome on here people.."

"At least he's not saying that liars aren't welcome on here people.."

"At least he's not saying that the ones that have had sex before marriage aren't welcome on here people.."

If he would say that... he should not be a Mod.

I think he should not be a mod even with the Yuck thing.

Yup... one of the most important issues on the planet (or at least Australia) I guess.

"Should adult men/women be allowed to be married to each other?"

If it weren't for him there wouldn't even BE a site for moderators to moderate. But if you wanna keep dissing Robo and dig your hole even deeper, your choice not mine.

I am grateful for this site.
And I was not dissing robo here. I was just saying that your way to try to save his choice of wording don't really work for me. I still think it is wrong for a Mod in an open CHRISTIAN chat to call gay people YUCK. Esp when gay christian reads that.

And what about children that have grown up with gay parents and they come in to this chat and the Mod calls their parents YUCK. Do you think they will stay here?

Lets not forget that there are many liberal views on Christianity (and esp if you are gay and reading this) many of us does not see anything wrong with being gay and christian. In my church the priest is female and lesbian and she is one of the purest, most loving people I have ever met.

So... don't listen to the angry yuckers.

Okay I'm gonna take a leap here and say 'whats with the disrespectful comments'. Seriously? Take a look at the bible.. Jesus describes the homosexual lifestyle as 'an ABOMINATION' before the Lord.

Think of something you view as 'perverted' .. is that not 'YUCK' to you? The very thought of it is sickening to the core right? Well, to those of us who understand and value the institution of marriage as God intended, the 'Homosexual' lifestyle is YUCK.. it's a turn off. Ask a homosexual what they think of the hetrosexual lifestyle.. they'd probably say the same thing.

Everyone here ranting on about respect.. I'm sorry, but in all honesty you are part of the problem. The problem in todays society is that instead of taking a stand, we hide under the banner of 'tolerance', then we complain when our nation declines into a cesspool of immorality and wonder 'how did that happen?'.

Personally, I find the homosexual lifestyle as disgusting, I agree with Robo it is 'Yuck'. To me it's vile, and it's a violation of Gods laws. HOWEVER, I acknowledge that homosexuals are still human beings. I know many homosexual people, and while I do not agree with their lifestyle choice, I can still respect them as a human being. If I am asked, I won't shy away from telling them what I believe and why, but I won't go up to every homosexual person I see and ram it down their throat uninvited. Rather, I'd spend my time trying to be a better example to them wherever I can.

I don't believe 'respect and tolerance' are the answer. I'm sorry, but I don't. Here in Australia I have seen that approach turn our nation into rapid decline. In the quest to be a 'Multi-cultural' nation where immigrants feel welcome, we have allowed our own cultural belief systems (which have been a part of this nation for eons- it's who we are) to be trampled on and as a result we can no longer be AUSSIE without fear of 'offending' someone. We can no longer be what was once known as a CHRISTIAN nation, for the same reason.

Well, I say it's time to take a stand. This whole same-sex marriage debate has been going on here for sometime too, and is slowly heading in the same direction. Soon we're gonna have to wary of things we say/do for fear of offending the homosexual community. The thing is, all of these people we're so carefully treading around, have come into our society boots and all with no consideration for how their opinions are affecting us, but rather they come in demanding everything under the sun (whilst offending many) and we pander to their every whim (to keep the peace so to speak). Shouldn't we as Christians be taking a stand. Shouldn't we stand firm and actually say 'You know what? No. I'm not okay with this, and here's why...' I mean, we're people too right?

But sadly, instead of doing that we say nothing, or we preach 'tolerance' and then watch the world fall into sin deeper each day, then complain about how corrupt things have become. Is that not the biggest oxymoron ever? Jesus wasn't 'Tolerant'.. he preached the word..

I Timothy 1:9-11
9 We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10 for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine 11 that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.

AND

Revelation 21:8
But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

AND

1 Corinthians 6:9-11
9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men[a] 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Yeah, no tolerance there. It's VERY clear. If people willingly choose to engage in such a lifestyle, they will not inherit the Kingdom of God... hence there is no such thing as a Gay Christian (but thats an entirely different debate). However, my point is God wasnt tolerant. He said REPENT and TURN FROM YOUR WAYS.. so why are we not doing the same?

*end rant*

Romney's rhetoric has stepped closer to the Biblical standard as time has gone on. Obama's rhetoric has stepped further from the Biblical standard.

You are entitled to your opinion, however if you hadn't figured it out yet this site was founded by, is operated by, and staffed by conservative christians who believe that the Bible is the final authority on all moral issues. The last time I checked, homosexual behavior is specifically called an abomination, so for Robo to say yuck is pretty mild compared to what God says. Before you go on a tirade about how hateful we are, check my wording carefully, I said homosexual behavior, NOT homosexuals.

I do not agree with you on anything.

But if you don't like black people, asians or arabs (what kind if immigrants you have in Australia?) do you say YUCK about them.

Black people, YUCK!!!

And then say... I still think they are human beings.

I know this is a very conservative chat. Or rather have noticed that. But it is the biggest christian chat online to mu knowledge and I just want gay people to know (that perhaps stumbles in here) that there are many ways to be christian and that it is a religion that is very different and divided and that not all see them as Yuck.

Romney isn't opposed to gay adoptions. He wouldn't do anything to fight it. From 2008.

Clearly you've missed my point. Did u even read my post. I said I still ACKNOWLEDGE them as people and respect them as HUMAN BEINGS but do not RESPECT or CONDONE their lifestyle choice. Go back, read again.. thats right there in my post.

The YUCK isnt in reference to the people themselves, but rather their sinful lifestyle choice.. again.. I think you need to re-read before you comment.

I'm also not at all racist, so be careful what you judge others of.
