We have this conversation every year but will interject an opinion. Have you thought about this...
He sees you when you're sleeping. He knows when you're awake. He knows when you've been bad or good...
So he's omniscient like a god? So theoretically one could argue that this is idolatry

Omgosh There is still hope for humanity! This guy has guts to do this and I proudly support him as a believer in Christ for telling the truth. It's time to stop playing games with childish stupid fairytales and serve the living God! There is no such thing as a jolly old fat man who comes down the chimney and eats cookies and milk. I would rather have the truth hurt me initially as a young person rather than be lied to continually and find out years later that I was lied to....People enjoy deluding themselves and getting drunk on silly fantasies instead of telling the truth about the power of Christ and His real life and resurrection! The reason these people are upset is because the truth is convicting them that they are lying to their children and that Jesus is far more important than some stupid santa claus....as I always say truth hurts but it's good for you in the long run! God Bless this Pastor abundantly for his courage and fortitude to stand for the truth! Amen!

So all this does is make people hate Christians more because they are seen as bullies
Yup. It's about as lame as it gets. Can't stand "protesters" no matter what flavor they come in.

Correct! Plus the background of santa and his helper krampus (satan/horned god) is full of paganism and in effect by supporting this myth you are giving away your time/energy to something with satanic/pagan roots.....

this phrase is like a bad internet meme that makes the rounds every once in awhile.
Oh, loook..... he's trying to get me in this mess now to make a hypocrite outta me. I don't live off popularity & drama, which means you & me don't eat at the same table.

Now, go ahead..... get in your last nasty word.:D:rolleyes:

Thats alright. I'm good with being so popular. After all. This is kinda like a high school flashback with all the envy and jealousy and comparative competitive immaturity.

Regarding the OP, I believe that the behavior of this 'pastor' was ill-advised and bordering on deplorable. It was clear that he was trying to make himself out to be some kind of hero by passing on the word that Santa is not real to the kids. I'm sure that most of them already knew that. Parents have the right to bring up their children in the way that they chose and certainly don't need or appreciate this guy's input. The pastor was a world class jerk.

I don't believe that it is a sin for parents to go along with the charade about Santa Clause but it is indeed lying to tell their kids that Santa is real even though there is no malicious intent. It has been suggested that the parents tell the children that this all pretend. I believe that this is a sensible approach. I personally did not tell my daughter that Santa was real, her mother and family did that.

I believe that the OP that started this thread is a troll trying to disrupt the harmony of the members of this site causing strife. It is evident that he has succeeded.

It is my opinion that Smoke has done an excellent job at calmly presenting his point of view without resorting to denigrating those that disagreed with him, this in despite of enduring an onslaught of personal attacks. His demeanor has been exemplary and I commend him for this.

For the record I think that the meaning of the Christmas season has been totally lost by commercialism and exploitation. That being said I haven't started my Christmas shopping yet so I need to get going on it.

It's gonna be a hard candy Christmas this year.

The little foxes, little leaven, don't you think that same principle applies to everything else or you skip scripture that says don't compromise
Like how some folks skip over the, same sex is an abomination, Scriptures.

Would the pastor tell the kids that Kermit the frog or a puppet show is not real or let them enjoy the show?

Stage shows are not real but kids can still enjoy them. Kids like to make believe and pretend. It is part of childhood.

Brother, I've said that I personally don't think pretending there is a Santa is wrong. I know some people think it takes away from Christ, but I disagree. We can pretend and play with our children in conjunction to focusing on the birth of our Savior.

What I've been saying is that it's wrong to lie to children about Santa being real. This goes beyond "playing" and "pretending". It's bearing false witness and it is unnecessary because kids can know the truth and still have fun pretending. I know I did.
For crying out loud, bro, I didn't understand where you were coming from and I apologize. I thought you were under the auspices that watching Santa Clause is Coming to Town and Rudolph was equivalent to sending children straight to hell fire. I apologize for my misunderstanding. :)

I completely agree with the bold. People will call you a legalist for simply accepting and applying the bible as it is written. People will build straw men that we somehow want children to be miserable because we disagree with lying to them. People will ignore the truth and instead throw a temper tantrum of emotion because people disagree with them that lying to your children is wrong. And people wonder why today's youth act entitled and juvenile... how about looking at their parents who emulate those same behaviors.

I can give a teenage kid a pass for acting out emotionally, but at some point people need to grow up and realize other people aren't "demonic", "evil", "ignorant", etc... simply because they disagree with you. At some point people should be able to contain their emotions and discuss differences substantively.

Him going to the ME and confronting ISIS with a Bible -- now that's cool. Til then, he's soft.

By substantively you mean by your personal interpretation of the Bible and how everyone else should live their lives and raise their children based on the filter to which you see everything. Got it and noted.

By substantively, I mean on points and issues that a person disagrees on. When you're a child this is understandable to react emotionally and ignore the substantive disagreements. It's easy to give in and personally attack someone than it is to address why you disagree.

It's all good brother. Every year I watch A Christmas Carol (George C. Scott version), A Christmas Story, Home Alone, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, Charlie Brown, etc... with my family. It's my favorite time of the year.

Oh cool! Now he accuses me of personal attacks and then personally attacks me by calling me a child! I loooove irony! It's so cool to see it displayed by the righteous ones! Yay you! Lol

Honestly regardless of what one thinks of Santa and the world...... Hurting or scaring children by telling them their parents are liars is just plain mean. I don't care how wrapped in righteousness it appears.

What a fantastic example for a mature Christians to set! To argue against Santa clause! So productive and I'm sure that Jesus just loves it!
