I've heard that mooses (meese? mises?) are really good eatin.... they're a little bigger than our Texas whitetails, though. Our deer could walk straight under a moose and never come close to ticklin his belly....

I prefer moose to deer. that is if you have to kill and eat it at all.

wonder what a bunch of moose are called?

a myriad of moose

you guys are lucky we didn't set moose on you way back

Ha! My uncle was chased by a moose in his backyard. My aunt took pictures while he ran and threw junks of wood at it until he reached the barn and safety. Yes,that is my mothers family and their sense of humor.

We went from Canadians talking about gun laws in the US, and then defending against US folks criticizing them, and Canucks saying they were going to go on the attack, with a picture of a moose on an airforce runway.... it went downhill from there.

simple.... stay with the program here....

Strange that you post that pic.... I'm originally from Lubbock, Texas.... and it has become a favorite stop for Canadian geese in the winter... Lubbock is a rather arid place  and most of the water around there is in playa lakes... shallow, flat areas that are slightly lower in elevation than the surrounding terrain, so that water collects in them, when (if) it rains. This is an internet picture of the edge of one, that might actually be in Lubbock...

playa.jpg

The geese have become a complete nuisance... I've seen these playa lakes in parks, where every bit of dry land around the lake is covered in geese. There are literally thousands upon thousands of them that call Lubbock "home" during the winter. It's amazing....

They come here too in the winter. Quite a few here in the summer also. Recently they had posted signs at local parks against feeding them bread saying its killing them or giving them "angel wing". The funny thing is that people leave behind food after a picnic so they eat it anyway.

Yeah they've been down here evidently. Their eggs are hard as rocks. I saw several guys hitting them off the golf course with some skinny metal sticks.

it's funny

we had one pair that used to nest in our area, but we would see others in small flocks but never the numbers that seem to show up in the US

maybe they should be renamed or something

Much cheaper than a Bomarc missile (there's a history lesson!).

And everybody thinks we Canadians are so polite. Harrummpph! We're sneaky! We don't fly under the radar; we overwhelm the radar! Thems gooses is highly-trained attack-gooses!

We do apologize for the loss of the plane, though our intelligence showed it was carrying DNC representatives.

I wonder if Sully keeps Canada geese as pets now?

Seriously, I think what he did was a stellar example of a good pilot who knew what he was doing. The stuff of legend.

I just watched the movie this weekend :) Yeah, and the investigators tried to fault him for what he did, going by what simulations showed acted out by pilots who knew exactly what was coming and took multiple practice runs to safely land the plane at one of two nearby airports. In truth, going into the river was his best choice, and he was ultimately vindicated :D Everyone survived!
