You are right, all these countries that use chopsticks are not nearly as fat as westerners who use shovels (I mean forks) to eat with.

Real or not, I was being sarcastic. I need to remember that many don't share my sense of humor.

Anyone who's interested check out a Sam Harris podcast called riddle of the gun
He makes some pretty convincing arguments on why getting rid of guns would be a bad idea
Some of his arguments include that mass shootings make up about 01% of homicides in America
Another thing to consider is that any attempt at gun confiscation would most likely result in civil war
I also agree with Harris on the point that we need more thorough vetting and a license to carry a firearm should require extensive training

Harris also advocates for having vetted and trained armed guards to protect children in schools
police officers or even military. I'm sure there are a lot of veterans who would take the job of protecting children

As the father of a gulf war vet, who still suffers from PTSD, I would hesitate to place him or his partners in a school situation with a firearm. I would be much more comfortable for them to be vetted through a law enforcement academy.

Yeah that's a good point
You remember a couple years ago a teacher in France got his head chopped off or drawing a cartoon of Muhammad?
France is on the verge of civil war because hey particular demographic of people migrate there and cause acts of violence. An armed guard at the school could have prevented that

The saying is true, a gun doesn't automatically choose who to shoot.

see people decide who they are going to kill, some one may decide to pick up a gun and shoot someone or a group of people but on the same side you can kill people with out a gun, poisoning or hanging or stabbing......

The only way to determine the threat of a weapon is to know what the beliefs and convictions of the person holding it is.

Besides shootings are only one use of a gun,

what about target shooting on a range for fun?

What about the farmer who uses it to keep dangerous animals away from his live stock?

What about the sharpshooter who shoots the criminal who is holding people as hostages??

Their is no one sided answer or simple answer. Every person and every situation has to be judged on its own merit

we definitely better vetting. Omar Mateen, the guy who was practically shouting from the rooftops hello I'm a terrorist, had no problem legally purchasing an AR-15 with which to murder 80 Americans
It's almost as if the FBI isn't doing their job or something

Really? shouting from the rooftop? Did he go to a school board meeting and complain about pornography? If you don't do that you aren't even trying.

He was going to work talking about killing people and the FBI knew he had ties to Islamic terrorist organizations

Blaming guns for the Columbine shooting is like blaming spoons for Rosie o donnel for being fat.
It's actually fast food and would you like to supersize that? ;)
