Yeraza, I take it you're a "Hey Arnold" fan as well? Is Helga your favorite character? I liked her, she's relatable! LOL
I've never tried Nutella but I don't think I would like it. I'm afraid to try new foods actually lol. I love your fav meal. But instead of pizza I would want fried chicken tenders. Those are the bee's knees and the cat's pajamas!

I am, and Helga is actually like my favorite fictional character ever yeah :p Shes way cool.

And nutella is good, but I actually dont like it on bread at all ever :p Its better for like ritz crackers and stuff like that, but on bread its actually kinda meh, its already dry on its own, and you probly wouldnt wanna mix it with jelly. And haha Im the opposite, actually. I love trying new foods, and am totally okay with trying almost anything :p And chicken tenders are good too, yeah. I rarely ever have them, not by choice though :p I should have them again sometime.

My mind was blown when I found out Arnold's skirt was actually his shirt not tucked in.

1. I'm a Christian and my name is Christian.

2. I'm 6'5" tall but was closer to 5'1" throughout the majority of high school.

3. I'm of Saxon blood. Hence, my red beard.

4. I'm mildly dyslexic, but I love reading e.g. The Adventures of Tintin, The Chronicles of Narnia, and The Hardy Boys got me into reading). I read the entire Bible (Good News version) in Grade 6. Took me 6 months, half of that was spent wading through Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. I attempted The Lord of the Rings the same year, but struggled greatly with the complex names of characters, creatures and locations. I attempted it again in Grade 7 and made it all of the way through. Since then, I've read LotR roughly every 5 years.

5. I'm a deep thinker but I can also be incredibly random. I like to think I'm a fun person.

6. At catch-ups with friends and family, I can often be found playing with children rather than talking to adults about the weather etc.

7. I'm obsessed with biblical creation eg. a young creation, historical Adam and Eve, global Flood etc. - advocating for the Bible as God's authoritative truth in regards to history, science, theology etc., as it's plainly written, save for the figurative passages).

8. My tastes in media vary. I love everything from children's TV series and movies to dark psychological and philosophical TV series and movies, but not a whole lot in between the two extremes.

9. I enjoy singing. But only in private, or at church or with good friends. I couldn't see myself helping to lead worship.

10. I grew up in a Christian home, as a Lutheran. I've been surrounded by the Lutheran world all of my life, but have experienced a number of other churches. I now call myself a Luthercostal. You can probably guess the hybrid for that one. ;)

Lol I remember when my daughter was a small child
Nickelodeon had a cartoon about a turtle named 'Franklin' lol

I dunno what it was about Franklin lol

But I would tell my daughter
"Franklin's on!"

She would huff up and say..

"I don't want tinky Franklin!" Lol

haha kids :)

1) I have strong Biblical names, Joël Daniël but my parents named me Danie. I never liked the name Joël until I was older :)

2) I hate Tequila... but for some reason he likes me to bids and now I am stuck with him

Tequila is our parrot so get your mind out of the gutters :p

3) I am A LOT funnier in Afrikaans (or so I tell myself every morning) and sometimes I read my posts over and over to try and alleviate the language barrier

4) I have never ever won a fight against my wife. I can only hope that one day it will happen but currently chances are looking slim

5) My hair are going grey and one of these days I will be Gandalf The White for that exact reason...

6) I LOVE South Africa even with the political mess we find ourselves in at the moment. (Pray for Africa my friends... we need it)

7) I anger quickly but forgive even quicker... with the result that people might still be angry with me but I have moved on a long time ago. Confusing!!! I know...

8) I don't hold grudges... but I will either like you or not. I have to work hard on myself because this is not a good attribute to have but I am working on myself

9) I love my son and my wife. They hold my world together and my wife is the one keeping me humble and moving closer to God.

10) I recently bought myself a convertible and this summer I am going topless every chance I get

(Disclaimer: No animals, cars or children were hurt in the typing of this post :p)

Gandalf: I just now noticed the country flag beside your name, only because you mentioned your first language is not english. The proofreading you said you do, it is very effective. I would never have known you're not american or british by your posts.

11. I speak my mind, which can sometimes irritate people. Especially when I'm busy at work and others are playing on their phones and I call them lazy... ^.^

12. I value friends who are straightforward with me. If you think the shirt I'm wearing looks like a dog vomited on it, don't tell me it looks good. I promise I won't be offended if you just tell me it looks bad.

13. At any given time I am probably humming or singing a random song.

14. I am very task-oriented. This reduces stress, as I can focus on the task at hand without getting overwhelmed, but it means I really get irritated when people get in my way. For example, when they stand in the middle of the aisle to have a conversation.

15. My music collection was built mostly at thrift stores, pawn shops, etc. I go through all their music and buy everything christian that I've never heard before. At those prices, even if I like one out of five I still come out way ahead. The groups I really like, I look up on amazon and buy all their albums cheap. The groups I don't like, I offload on the local Jesus Cares thrift store - and I never, ever go there looking for music.

16. If I had my life to live over again, I'd live it next door to a McKay's.

17. The hardest part about being a nerd is I have all these really great jokes... that nobody around me will understand.

18. I can raise each eyebrow independently. The only reason I can give for this is my mother always could. It's amazing how you can learn to do something totally useless, just because you think it's neat. I have to concentrate to raise both at once.

19. I get a kick out of spoonerisms. At work we sell chispy cricken, chilled gricken, meg reet and marter queet. And nicken chuggets. My coworkers have gotten used to it.

20. I have always taken cues from people older than I. This avoided a lot of junk in my teens because I noticed adults didn't care about the stuff my peers thought was life-or-death important. I've had a pretty good life by placing importance on things my elders thought were important.

I have like kinda shared my testimony, Ive talked about dealing with coming from that life, and the struggles that followed it, since coming to Christ. But Ive never like really shared publicly here (or actually anywhere online I think) about what exactly made me come to God. I havent really done it for two reasons, one being that it would probly end up being really long, and many people would be too unmotivated to read it :p And another, my calling wasnt through the like inspiring story of how God healed someones life, I was called through torment, and when I reached out to God for help, He showed me why I was not truly His child, but a slave to my own desires. Irl, most Christians have taken my testimony really well, actually I made a friend in a Christian consoling session who introduced me to another Christian who went through what I went through, it was way cool. But the very few times Ive shared it online Ive gotten mixed responses. Ive only told a very few people online though, maybe I should work on a thread to post in the testimony forum....

And for youre friend, is this person wanting to come to God? That would be way awesome, its not easy to leave that life, those of us who do fall into that lifestyle believe we have finally gotten the chance to have everything weve wanted, and allow ourselves to believe that it was all we needed to be happy. So letting yourself make that change in perspective, to see that you are only following a desire that will make you feel good for the moment, but will die, its not something that people really want to do. The only way you will even find the way out is with faith in Him, and He will only help us if we seek Him. But those of us caught in that life, were much too busy being guided into some feelgood thing that He is the last thing we are setting our hearts on. I hope that your friend is finding Him :3
Oh, no ya don't :p.

Yours is an awesome testimony of God healing a special guy who needed Him badly; the fact that you didn't have ten years of crack addiction overcome in an instant is irrelevant. We're all messed up and need a heavenly rescue. The fact that you're now trying to follow Him adds to the coolness even more :).

My tenners:

Jesus! I'll just add "You're too awesome for words, Sir" :).

I read each post, and enjoyed finding out more about each person.

I found something in common with each person in this thread :).

A few of the similarities had to be amended slightly. See my next post for more info :D!

I'm usually excellent at remembering names. This occasionally goes to the extent of making someone's eyes get really big all of a sudden and me having to explain that I have not been stalking them for the past decade.

I didn't get Chicken Pox until I was 16, yet I don't have any scars from the ordeal.

I tend to proofread VERY obsessively.

I love beautiful things, especially in nature. Eggs, feathers, berries, and more :).

I get loopy when I'm tired. If you want evidence, ask anyone who's talked to me in the chat room when it's late =D.

Bacon!

Now to explain what I meant in number 4 from above post ...

When JesusLives posted that she loves art of all kinds, I mostly feel the same way. I personally like many types of art, but I suspect Darlene did not mean, let's say, that guy who went potty in a few paint cans and then sealed them. I can't recall the name of his "artistic vision" as Dave Barry penned it, and, not having had breakfast yet, I really hesitate to perform a google search to find his preferred title. I think we would agree, though, that one shouldn't simply poop in a bag and call it art and expect everyone to agree with the terminology.

1. I really appreciate stupid humor, and have a quirky/weird side to my humor as well. I think I tend to connect with most others' sense humor with my terrible puns haha.

2. I have a very deep side that I've learned not everyone has the capacity to handle. It's not dark by any means because I'm very much a hopeful and optimistic type, but I'm not afraid to talk about and ponder dark things. I once actually had a quiet time in a cemetery just to give myself perspective on how out of control of things I am, how much more in control God is, and that I need to make the most of time, energy, and resources that God has given me. I think during harder times of life I tend to gravitate toward this side of myself more, though, and have to work to find balance between that and my fun side. When I'm normal/happy, that balance tends to come naturally.

3. I am very much a people pleaser. I discovered early on this year that I have a lot of deep-rooted lies in me about my worth that have been there since I was a child, and I think my personality has actually been molded around wanting to relate to, get along with, and fit in with people. The happiest times of my life were in high school and college when I felt like I was valued by a lot of people, and anytime that I take a personality test, I don't fit nicely into one category. I'm a bit of an anomaly as far as personality types go. I might get nailed down as a certain type on the Myers-Briggs spectrum, but some of the traits that are typically true of someone that is that type are not true of me, and I will share traits with people of other types instead.

4. To go along with #3, I am super self-aware. I like to say that I am constantly debriefing myself on life. Anytime I'm in a conflict, the first thing I do afterwards is examine where I went wrong and I'm always examining the beliefs/thoughts/motivations/emotions why I do the things that I do.

5. I screw up. A lot. I particularly have an ongoing and seemingly unending battle with being disciplined in most major areas of my life.

6. I am kind of a numbers nerd. I don't necessarily like math all that much, but I like to believe that numbers never lie. If I could make every major life decision using an Excel spreadsheet, I totally would.

7. The coolest things I have ever done in my lifetime are go whale-watching off the coast of Maine and see the Eiffel Tower light up while on a boat ride through Paris on the Seine.

8. I love learning about people and am fascinated with what makes people tick and how we tend to function according to the way that God created us. I love this thread for that very reason. I have appreciated everyone's lists so far and liked each and every one of them. I think it is also evidence of the truth that everyone has a desire to be known.

9. I tend to be kind of a jack of all trades and a master of none. I think that I am pretty good at a lot of different things, but not amazing at any single one. I play and follow sports, I play piano, guitar, and bass, I enjoy talking theology (and am a Calvinist/complementarian for all you other nerds out there), and I love nature. (A little known fact about me is that I was obsessed with birds as a kid, and while that interest faded a bit as I became a teenager because it wasn't really all that "cool," I could still usually tell you what a bird is as it's flying by just by the way it flies. [P.S. I also love to talk parenthetically :p]) I think this might go along with wanting to be able to relate to people, but I also have a bit of a desire to be a lifelong learner. Just know a lot about things all across the spectrum of my interests. This is part of the reason I'm a huge podcast junkie.

10. My career path is a bit foggy to me at the moment. I originally went to school for physical therapy. That changed to sociology/psychology after a year. Then after another two years I transferred schools and ultimately graduated with a degree in intercultural studies. A few months after graduating while struggling to find a job, my dad offered to let me work with him doing accounting. I eagerly accepted and have done that for about 3 1/2 years now. I started taking accounting classes last fall as well to better understand what I was doing and hopefully make a bit more money, and I will finish my associate's degree after this fall. Because accounting wasn't ever really intended to be a forever career for me though, ultimately I think I want to go to seminary for counseling (potentally financial counseling/consulting) at some point. I just don't know when that will be.

Ten more to share :)

I agree very much with Jill :) I have so enjoyed learning about everyone and have found much in common with many. Thanks so much to everyone for sharing!

I am always amazed at how similar and yet so differently God created us humans to be.

I like to shoot guns and for only going out for that once in a great while, I'm not half bad lol

I love dogs and have 3 myself..a husky mix named Liberty, a toy rat terrier named Miss Moneypenny, and a spoodle named Goldie

I may be a little slow at getting jokes sometimes :p I hate that but what can I do *shrug*

Being called Mama or Ms. Mama is my favorite. Doesn't matter if it's my kids or other people, even adults, it warms my heart :) Ergo my xbox name ;)

I hate fish and any kind of seafood :p don't know why don't really care lol

I am actually independent some now..used to be I hated doing anything alone..didn't like walking across the street because I didn't like people looking at me. But I've learned to not worry about that and do most things on my own now :) I'd still rather take a friend or a kid with me tho lol:p

I swim with a funoodle..yaaa well see I have asthma and run out of breath quickly :p but I do know how to swim and love to do it :)

Love to take pictures...
We made these memories for ourselves
Where our eyes are never closing
Hearts are never broken
Time's forever frozen still
I may be just a little nostalgic over memories :p :)

Have you read any books by Spider Robinson? It's not Christian, but it is funny, and he's a master of spoonerisms and puns.
