OK, I'm not sure what all married people do on Valentines Day, but this is what this married person is doing.

1. Waking up.

2. Cooking breakfast for kids, Husband is working.

3. Signing card she bought for Husband.

4. Laundry.

5. Clean house.

6. Take Son to his basketball game at 4 PM.

7. Stop at some restaurant after basketball game to eat before I take 3 wild kids to see the Sponge Bob movie.

8. Meet Husband at theater, me and 3 wild kids.

9. Go home after movie.

10. Sleep.

Valentines Day is always advertised as this super romantic fuzzy wuzzy kind of day. I just want to let you all know it's a normal day.

When I was single I always felt like I was missing out on something. It's a nice thought to say hey I love you, but you should let people you love know you care all year not just February 14th.

So please don't be depressed on Valentine's Day if you're single. It's just another day.

It is certainly just another day for me. But February 15th... ah now, THAT day is special! Half off all the chocolate you can buy! :D :D

Do NOT get between me and the dark chocolate. The milk chocolate you can have, but you risk your life reaching for anything dark. If you lose a finger you are lucky. Most lose an arm. Bwahahahaha!

I'd just like to take this opportunity to point out that my birthday is November 16th. In other words, exactly 9 months and 2 days after Valentine's Day.

Just sayin' :p

I'm sure many married couples have romantic Valentine's Day's evenings, whatever, but not all do. I just don't want anyone who is single to think they're missing out on some big thing. It's all advertising and Hallmark now. I say if you aren't in a relationship and you feel bad, find a friend or someone who might be lonely, like an elderly person and give them a visit a card a nice hug. Sometimes helping someone when you feel bad makes you feel better.

Ooh! My birthday is August 14, exactly 6 months after Valentines Day...um...that seems like it should be more important or something.

So anyway, this married person is celebrating Valentines Day by...
Waking up (here's hoping, at least)
Hanging out at home with two toddlers and my husband, maybe watching some Ninja Warrior and/or Match Game
Fixing lunch, and maybe even getting to sit still long enough to eat it
Going to the park with everyone
Fixing dinner
Wrangling kids into their beds
Watching a movie
Falling asleep in my chair during the movie because I'm old like that

...Yep, just another day.
(But maybe there will be surprise chocolate)

I used to work at dominos pizza and the single busiest day of the year for them is valentines day (no pun intended). Sad but true.

For many people, it's exactly that "normal day" which they want to experience. Valentines Day amplifies the lack of any routine with a spouse and children throughout the rest of the year.

Of course 'it' means watching The Notebook..

I like the story of it, never read the book, when I watched the parts with James Garner and Lauren Bacall, I really liked it, but the young couple was so sappy. Blah.

I get it, I was one of those people and I feel very blessed to have a family. They just advertise Valentine's as this super romantic you better find a mate right now so you can run out and buy them a diamond kind of day, and it's not.

Nothing. Lol.
My husband disdains it because for him, it is too commercialized and also kind of declaration that you dont really invest effort to cherish your wife the remaining 364 days in a year. He likes giving gifts anytime he feels like it too, rather than bound to some date.

(Of course, he wouldnt condemn anybody who enjoys the holiday - this is just the way that he chooses to show love :) )

In the spirit of Chandler's oh-so-subtle hint, my birthday is after Christmas but before Valentine's Day.

Seeing as mine has already passed, I gladly accept after-sale candy from any holiday. Feel free to PM me and I will gladly leave instructions on where to send it. :D

Several female co-workers have their eye on a huge stuffed giraffe in our promotional department. At last count, there is only one left. I was thinking of trying to snap it up and raffle it off...

Like anyone else on Valentine's Day, I foresee a lot of red. As in... from a big huge fight, because three girls fighting over one large stuffed animal could turn ugly pretty fast.

P.S. This thread is the epitome of why our married friends here are so awesome. Thank you for having compassion (instead of pity!) on us and "giving us the real" of how life actually works. All the commercials, books, and movies, make us forget that sometimes.

I tried to give Fenner some rep points for Valentine's Day, but the system won't let me...

Well, at least now I have something ELSE to be disgruntled about on Valentine's Day instead of being single.

Grandma watches that channel with all those romance comedies. Around this time of year they get especially sappy.

Oh well, it's a break from "The Good Witch" over and over. I swear they have shown that series of movies at least three hundred times now.
