I took it as humor and exaggeration. But if just guys are hanging out and they know each other really well, let's say some guys on the same team in high school or young guys in the high school, it's possible that they might pass gas loudly, try to have a contest after eating Mexican food, or something like that. Most groups of guys wouldn't do this, depending on the maturity level and social dynamics of the individuals in the group. But its not the behavior we'd expect of women.

My wife is a really good cook, and she cooks dishes from quite a number of countries, as well. They don't call it 'rijsttafel' in Indonesia, but I've heard those who have been in Holland use that term. I'm not sure what assortment of Indonesian foods they serve together over there in Holland. My wife's beef rendang is especially good, and can compete when compared to high end Padang restaurant food in Indonesia. Her chicken gulai is really good, and I don't think I've ever had any kangkung tauco as good as hers.

There is a Chinese soup made from pork and pickled mustard greens that has a 'down home' taste to it, much better than the way mustard greens are cooked in the south. She cooks that, too.
