I really like what others have been saying here about leading and following when appropriate, and how life requires good skills in both areas.

I also like what Roh said as far as recognizing what your strong and weak points are as far as deciding who takes charge of what. I'm not financial whiz but I know how to pay things on time (the first key for me is to try my best never buy anything I can't afford.)

I was engaged to someone once who had a "seeing is believing" attitude about money. As long as he saw the money, he believed it was his to spend. Needless to say... he was unwilling to allow me leadership in that area. I don't know if he was just against the idea of a woman overlooking the finances, but he eventually went legally bankrupt after we broke up.

I'm more than willing to give over areas I'm not strong in to a capable leader. If we're both good, or not so good at something, I'd hope we could reach a compromise and seek help when needed. But I am also hoping that the right person would recognize and allow me to work in areas where I might have more strength.

I don't like being a leader in most situations, however I do enjoy teaching. I don't have a teaching degree but I get to do it at Sunday School and occasionally at the Pre School where I work. Not so I can boss people around but I like to help people learn something new. It's exciting to see something you taught someone set in motion. I love when a little child learns something new, like how to write their name, they get so excited and I'm excited for them.

I'm both a leader and a follower. I think everyone is both whether they want to admit it or not.

I lead by being a Christian example to the world. I also love teaching people.

I follow by following Christ first, then my elders. I love being in the middle of older people discussing the Bible and their experiences. Solomon said to seek out and treasure wisdom.

I can be either a leader or a follower. Most of the time I have a natural proclivity to follow, but there are rare occasions where I actually have to actively choose to be a follower rather than a leader. And most of the time if I take the lead on something it's because I'm making an active, intentional effort to do so.

I am both a leader and a follower. But as Shouryu stated, effective leaders are often effective followers. I don't remember where I heard this, but it has stuck with me since, "People often think to be a leader means you have more people serving you, but in actual fact to lead effectively means to serve more people" or something along those lines.

I was very comfortable with following for so long until the later years of University. I ended up being in different classes to my regular friends, so every time I was put in a small group activity or group assignment, I often found no one stepping up to lead so I volunteered. I actually found out that I really enjoy leading. I realised you can follow and lead at the same time! I enjoyed sensing out people's strengths and hearing them voice themselves, then when it was my turn to pull it together, draw out their strengths and encourage them to step up in that area.

I am a qualified teacher now and I work in a Kindergarten room. To be honest, even with 4-5 year old children, I still follow them at times. I enjoy empowering them to step up and lead the direction of the learning according to their interest. I can't help but smile when they start playing 'teacher' to their friends.

I put this up on facebook awhile ago, but one morning I lined my Kindergarten children up and one by one washed their feet. Why? Because it has become more apparent to me that to teach and lead means to serve in love.

I woke up and checked the forum for new replies to threads. This one showed up as "someone has said something here since you last read this thread" so I read it. I thought, "I swear I've heard that quote before. I think egeiro is copying from someone else." Then I noticed the date... Oh yeah, egeiro was the one I saw saying that a couple days ago.

This is the only thing I don't like about poll threads. They show up as a new reply when someone votes.
