Being more social with schoolkids and playing games like man hunt or digging up for worms (for the most part I was a total tomboy as a kid). :p I get mad when seeing kids using these gadgets as their childhood past time or worse for when the parents just want their kids to shut up in a public place.
Digging up for worms??? That's just awesome! :)

Once the convention centre for our church had been flooded. After the floods had dried up, there were tiny amphibious fishes that swam in the muck. I remember hunting for them with some kids in the area. I can't believe I was that dirty because I am a hygiene-freak now. Lol. :D

I miss playing and running....I would run and jump and feel like I could fly so free as a child and I miss the feeling of fearlessness not afraid of anything and I would take chances - like riding a bike down steps and at the bottom of the steps you had to turn right or left immediately or you would drop 10-12 feet off the road into a creek bed. Can't remember how many times I did that and never broke my neck sure gave my guardian angel a workout keeping me safe.....lol

As an adult I am now trying to learn that fearlessness for God and speaking up and out for Him as in sharing the gospel and loving people to Jesus.... also trying to learn how to play again and regain that free/flying feeling I had as a child.

From a Lauren Talley song:

"So many things I thought would bring me happiness
Some dreams that are realities today
Such an irony, the things that mean the most to me
Are the memories that I've made along the way"

My memories, hmm...

Getting wood for the stove. Dad always wanted me to get slabs, but they got harder to get to as the winter went on. Why did he buy so many sticks if all he wanted was slabs?

Mom making chicken-&-dressing. I always bugged her to put more sage in it. One day she got tired of it and gave me a small pan to wind up with as much sage as I wanted. She made me eat it too. I never, ever, ever bugged her about that again.

The whipped cream incident. My brother was confident he could eat two cans of whipped cream. He was so confident that my mother bought two cans, shot them both into a bowl and let him have at it. There was a lot left over... but I and sis got to finish what he couldn't eat.

My first grade teacher. She actually cared that we learn something. I would always fiddle-fart around for most of the day, then do all my work at the last minute. One day my estimates were wrong and I didn't get finished in time. She made me stay and finish, then she drove me home herself.

For some reason I remember a metal 50-gallon drum that was in the yard. I turned it over on its side, got on the top and "walked" it all over the yard.

The stilts... I wish I still had a pair of stilts. I could walk for hours on stilts. This skill has no practical application but it was fun for some reason I still can't explain.
I can remember walking on stilts too and it was fun for some reason..... also jumping up and down on a pogo stick.....don't know why but the stilts reminded me of the pogo stick.....which reminds me of a stick horse I had as a real small child.....I think I remember someone beat a mouse to death with the stick horse....yuck....lol

JesusLives, playing is easy. Use what is at hand.

What? You don't think I'm going to tell someone "I was tapping out a song on my desk" do you? :p

On a related note, when I let my mind wander sometimes it brings back the weirdest souveniers...

Who has:

1. Slid down a flight of stairs on a mattress?
2. Slid down a bank/hill with a cardboard box?

I remember having a blast doing this... considering revisiting my past foolishness some time soon.... :p

You probably don't know anything about stick horses do you?.... this comes from being born in the 1950's... They would put a stuffed plastic horse head on top of a short broomstick and you would pretend to ride the horse stick like it was a real horse and I loved cowboy/girl stuff and my favorite cup to drink out of was a pink plastic cowgirl mug.....memories how much fun they are..... I bet that pink cowgirl mug would be worth some money now as it would be an antique such as I am over 50 and all.....but then I am a fun Blond antique.......lol

Lol, I know what a stick horse is but the way you said all of that made me picture you saying it in just one breath, which is pretty hilarious to me:D

I'm feeling a little nostalgic....

What are some of the things you miss from your childhood? Here's a few of mine:

1. I miss playing blind man bluff with my sis and bro
2. I miss having water fights with all the neighbourhood kids
3. I miss midnight munchies with my dad
4. Climbing trees and playing hide and seek

*Note to all: There will be no fighting, rudeness or petty bickering.... DO NOT SPOIL MY HAPPY MOMENTS!!!!*
What I miss the most from my childhood is the sense of time I had back then. It's seemed like time went so slow back then. It seemed like forever between birthday and holiday's, and each grade of school went by slow. I miss that now it feels like I'm having a birthday every other day. I have a son in middle school now and he will be in collage tomorrow. I miss it "taking forever".

I'm sorry take one of mine and walk on stilts with me or you could borrow the stick horse and go beat a mouse?.....Might help get rid of some of those bad childhood memories. I find beating something to death is good therapy, usually mine is a cockroach living in Florida...and not mice.....lol

Anybody remember Silly Putty? Flatten it out and then copy the comics out of the newspaper? Then it get muddy looking and you could roll it into a ball and bounce it off of anything including the walls......Hours of entertainment just like Blonds.....lol

I find this to be quite sad. My childhood was OK but my adulthood has had quite a few rough patches.
