One more cartoon quote:
"Son, I'm going to give you some advice that won't make much sense now, but when you grow up and get married it will save you a lot of grief. When you get married your wife will periodically go to a place called a hair salon. When she comes back she will look EXACTLY THE SAME to you. Only she and other women will even be able to tell any difference. But you must never let on that you can't see a difference. Always compliment her on how her hair looks when she comes back from a hair salon."

My oldest daughter rarely ever wears any type of make-up. Every now and then she will put on some light eyeliner and mascara. She skypes with her long-distance boyfriend everyday. On those rare occasions when she has on make-up, he always tells her how beautiful she looks, but he never realizes that it's because she's wearing make-up. He can't tell WHAT makes her look so beautiful on those days, but he can definitely tell a difference, and he likes it. She finds this hilarious. She responds with "thanks, I am wearing a bit of make-up today" and he is always shocked. Ha!
This happens to them repeatedly.
