Eeeww this woman has such big pores!

Yeah I hear men say it all the time. It's the biggest dealbreaker there is. Yeah she's lovely, sweet, good looking, Christ like, but those pores.... yuck!
The ironic thing is that many women think people really do notice this to the point of rejecting them.

I was pretty sure most guys would say they could care less--I don't recall ever meeting a guy who seemed to notice or care about these things--but I thought it would be really reassuring to women, especially some of our younger sisters out there, to hear this from the guys themselves.

I'm hoping it will convince some people that some of the things they worry about... might just be completely imagined.

Skin is definitely one of the main features men notice in a woman, although usually not on a totally concious level like but it's just a natural factor in how attractive you find someone. Smooth, clear skin is a good sign of overall health, which is attractive. So eat healthy and be healthy (exercise, etc.) and you won't need to spend thousands on treatments! :)
How does that apply to someone with skin pigmentation issues? Or someone with auto immune problems that result in psoriasis? Or a person who has a distinguishing birthmark on their face? Or a burn victim who's face is now scarred for life?

I'm not directing this at you, sealabeag dear. Just something for us all to think about. Also consider that Jesus had no physical features that would attract anyone to him.

Hallelujah, those who are in Christ Jesus are set free from the bondage to the flesh and we can therefore acknowledge one another in the spirit of Christ Jesus. Amen? \:D/ Yay!!

On a side note, I had an older foster brother who had a huge, unusual birthmark on the side of his torso. He was shy about removing his shirt to go swimming in the pool with us, initially. But after we all got over our shock and got all our ignorant questions out of the way, it was no big deal.

I have fond memories of my brother. He was such a happy, witty guy and made all of us younger foster kids laugh so much. And I always remember that birthmark of his and it makes me smile because it was part of him.

So young and so naive. Lol

I think that we are all made unique and everyone notices something different. Yes, some people might notice the size of pores...some people notice clothing, hair, eyes, body type, attitude, voice...the list goes on. Personally, the first things I notice are a person's eyes and their hands...don't ask me why. :)

Those are some exceptions to the rule. On the whole, however, what I said remains true. And sure, it would be great if what most people saw in each other was their heart, but when it comes to dating, etc., physical attraction is the primary focus.

Explain what is naive about stating that a healthy body is reflected in the skin?
Genetics, environment, hormones (those pesky hormones) can all take their toll,
it doesn't matter how well you look after yourself. Just ask any woman. Lol

Agreed, there are indeed exceptions to the rule. According to Lord, however, His Word remains true. When it comes to dating, etc., physical attraction is the most deceptive standard of measure regarding someone's value. [Prov 31:30]

Christians walk by faith, not by sight.

Nevertheless, we are all people free to choose whomever we like as our life companion. Just don't forget to count the cost.

Forget the pores if I rub it on my bottom will it shrink that? lol

Hey Everyone,

I always get a kick out of the avalanche of "problems" the beauty industry convinces women they need to "fix", because if they don't, they will apparently become immediate social outcasts.

One current beauty "911" is the supposed issue of enlarged pores on the face (the same "problems" are always around, but the industry just markets them in cycles.) This is especially common in those who have acne, so as someone who's battled more than her share of breakouts in the past, I can relate.

Now, I know I probably just lost all our male readers right there, seeing as they're all probably asking themselves, "What the hee haw is a pore and why would I care what size it is??!!"

Which is exactly the point of this thread.

The beauty industry is currently pushing all sorts of cleansers, creams, serums, lotions, and primers (again, I realize I'm losing any gentlemen we have left here, but hang on just a little while longer) in order to "SHRINK THOSE PORES, LADIES!! YOUR WHOLE SOCIAL LIFE DEPENDS ON IT!!!" The clear, underlying message is, "You will never get a date, be accepted into social circles, or be able to appear in public unless you buy our products and get rid of those hideous pores!!"

And I'm left wondering... Do men even NOTICE a woman's pores, and does it really matter to them???

Seriously.

Here's a demonstration of how much TAKING CARE OF THOSE PORES can CHANGE YOUR LIFE because you will immediately LOOK SO MUCH BETTER:

(You don't have to watch the entire video--the cover pictures might be enough, or just click at about 1:45 for a "before" and at about 4:35 for the "after", which, yes, also includes makeup.)

This woman is obviously beautiful (with or without makeup.)

But what do you think of the difference? IS there any difference? Can any of you even tell?

I'll be curious to hear your answers. Ladies, do you do anything to "fix" your pores, and doe sit make a difference?

The entire point of this thread is ask whether or not the "beauty emergencies" we are so often told to "fix"--usually through hundreds/thousands of dollars' worth of products or treatments--are even noticed by men at all.

I remember a national survey's results given on the radio: What is the very first thing a man notices about a woman? The answer? Her Hair! To be honest, that is correct...as far as ME! I notice a woman's hair..the length, the style, the shiny or dullness, the color, the 'swoop' and more. When I was 17, I saw this beautiful head of hair, so wavy, so stylish, so blowing in the wind, from a distance. I met that awesome girl what was under all that luxurious hair..I had to! It turned out that she was as beautiful as her HAIR. We are now getting ready to celebrate our 40th anniversary!

It is true... large or small pores are caused by genetics and age, and nothing more. They can't be shrunk or tightened. Health honestly doesn't have anything to do with pores. Healthy skin, of course, is a different matter. I agree that healthy glowing skin is always attractive. :)

Maybe a little confusion, I wasn't commenting on pores, just skin complexion. Thanks for helping me clarify. :)

I had an acne problem during my teens and now I do have large pores mainly on my cheeks as a result. However, Ive never had anybody comment on them...that is except for myself and I am my worst critic. Instead I've always had compliments on my dimples God blessed me with. For the most part I always have a smile on my face so the dimples may take away from any blemishes I do have and I'm okay with that:)
