As far as i am concerned if a girl is attractive her wearing glasses or not wearing glasses makes no difference.. If i see an attractive woman and she then puts of a pair of classes she does not suddenly become repulsive to me.. :)

I do not like wearing glasses because they often start to slide off when it is a hot day.. My nose is pretty small and cute for a male, :giggle: so i like those straps that soulmateleft featured in his post.. I mostly have worn safety glasses as part of my work.. I do have a pair of perscription glasses by i only have to wear then to read fine print.. Sometimes i take them shopping and whip them out when i need to read the find print of the product labels to see the sugar or fat content of the food..

Now some glasses are not suited to the person wearing them.. So spending a little time selecting the glasses that look right on you makes a big difference..

Hey Everyone,

Thanks for the awesome discussion and kinds words! It's interesting to hear other people's (bespectacled) experiences.

Something I'm wondering about all of you who wear glasses--do you find that they hold you back in any way? Because that's truly the part I hate.

For instance, I'm a bit of an amusement park freak. Back in the day, I went on a water slide that was so high, climbing the stairs just to get to the top almost gives you a nosebleed. I wore contacts back then, and happily went on all the most exciting rides without a second thought.

These days, I always have to plan around my glasses and it's really a pain in the butt. I truly can't see without them, not even to make it to front of the line, so I always have to worry about how I'm going to carry a case, and haven't found one I'd trust on water rides (I don't care if they get wet--but if they get smashed, I would literally be up a creek.)

I also had a possible opportunity to snorkel this summer, which is something I've always wanted to do, but I realized I would have to get specifically-made goggles, even just to take swimming lessons. The highest prescription I could find was -8.0, and mine is considerably higher than that (along with a few other factors the generic ones wouldn't cover.)

I've also wanted to possibly get into canoeing, but seeing as I somehow fell into the water on a high school trip (I don't even remember how it happened), now I would have to worry about losing my glasses if that happened again.

Henceforth, I can't participate in any activity involving water until I buy a pair of prescription goggles, and I hate that limitation.

It wouldn't be so bad if I fit into the neat little mold of those "buy one pair, get one pair" ads you always see on television, but my lenses are so specialized that the cheaper frames aren't strong enough to hold them.

Does anyone else find that wearing glasses/contacts holds you back? If so, how do you work around it?
I ran into that when our church youth group went to Liberty Land, a small amusement park in Memphis. Turns out the gift shop there sells elastic glasses straps. :D

No idea where I put that elastic strap after the trip... I've never needed it since.

Thank you !

Those creatures depict a scene from a lullabye my mother used to sing to me in Danish. The elephants song. The Bee is for my nephew. His nickname is bee 😘
Oh wow!! Thank you for sharing the meanings of the tattoos...it's really good to know the origins of the pictures and designs and why you have them. That's awesome :)

Yesterday one of my old friends from my hometown & I were messaging on FB. She remarked that my present FB photo looks like a sexy librarian. I am so seriously embarrassed I took a series of new photos today and am going to replace it.

Why’d you replace it?

Because I'm on FB mostly for my kids, grandsons, & a few good friends. No need to look like a sexy grandmom. LMBO!! :D:LOL::ROFL:
Aw, but AuntieAnt... I've seen pictures of you, and you're so pretty.

I say, if you look like a gorgeous librarian in your picture, then go for it! And all the better for giving us nerdy girls some street cred. :geek:

Seriously. The older I get (I like to say I'm more of an autumn chick rather than a spring chicken), the more I look for female role models and mentors I want to be like, and they can be hard to find.

Our society tries to tell people that as they get older, they disappear into the woodwork and have nothing to offer, or that anyone would want.

I love seeing an older woman who isn't afraid to look good - not in the worldly sense, of course, but in a way that reminds us that women over the age of 40, 50, 60, etc. still have a lot of God's plan in their lives to accomplish, and they. are. on. it!

But if ya got it, ya just got it :p
Darn Tootin'.

Women (and men) need to know that even as we get older, we can still look good!

(And that all the work and sacrifices we made along the way have been worth it.)
