Statis... Did you mean statice? That's the wispy stuff florists add to bouquets, or used to. It sheds all over the floor. No statice for me please.
Touche.

So, let's carry on. How do you say status...."STAY-tus" or "STA-tus"? ;)

Ooooh snap, shineyourlight!

I wouldn't be so quick to post that meme since I am looking at the votes on this thread and seeing the majority of people saying "STA-tus" instead of your way.

So, I'm sorry, but what burn should I be applying cold water on? Because as far as I can tell, I'm not the one who needs to take care of any burn.

;)

However... When trying to catch the attention of a dashing gent with an enticing British accent...

I've heard Roh_Chris' British accent and it's not dashing in the least. Or enticing.

Hello! We need your input!

Roh_Chris and I are debating on the word "status" and its pronunciation.

He says the correct way is "STAY-tis"
I say, "STAT-is"

How do YOU say it?
I've heard it pronounce stay-tus, but.. only when it's specifically requesting an overview of a scientific matter, like "what is the status of the experiment?"

Any other time it's stat-us.

As to the original debate if you are in the UK, Roh_Chris is correct. If you are in the US, you are both correct. So, Roh_Chris is more correct than you are technically.

Well, I was born in Philly PA and then grew up right over the bridge in the city of Camden, New Joisey. Most of us kinda tawked like Joe Pesci. I'd pronounce "status" like dis: STAHD-iss.
