So....pretty simple question. The first time you got into a relationship with someone....how long were you with that person?

Me, I don't have an answer for this because I've never been in a relationship. I won't tell you why because it's nothing interesting or worth reading.

So how long were you with this person? And what did you learn or take away from the relationship....if anything?

My first relationship lasted an actual week 🤣🤣🤣 I was a 16 year old Sophomore and he a Senior in the same high school. He was the best friend of my best friend’s older brother. It was basically a - “you’re cute and you’re cute and we have a handful of common interests” thing.

I had my first kiss sitting with him on a park bench, overlooking a lake at sunset. Even though the relationship didn’t last I do love that memory. But what ended it? We literally started dating, then like a day later he said “I love you” before hanging up the phone. I panicked. We didn’t know each other like at all - it was just too much too past. Nothing on the physical level, just two kids who were trying to date.

I could tell too that he was more pushing in those sort of things. We talked again like 3 years later and he had mentioned he’d like to call me every once in a while. This was fine but he then called like super late - and when I objected he tried to just say he was gonna call when he wanted. I said heck no.

So yeah.

4 years and 8 months. I learned that being in a relationship doesn’t heal my low self esteem.

Just a few months. I guess I learnt that it is better to be alone than with the wrong person. Sometimes loneliness may drive us to be with someone but if it is the wrong person it opens up a whole lot of other problems.

Geesh...that was SO long ago.
I've only had a few relationships...so you think I'd remember details a bit better. 🤷‍♀️
I'm gonna say....2 years.
We were friends for awhile first though.
I still see him now and then because he lives in my neighborhood.
In the words of a friend of mine, I "dodged that bullet". ;)

I've actually only ever been in 1 relationship. It lasted 6 months. I learned from him that though I'm not perfect, I'm beautifully rare 😊 I also learned to recognize red flags; things that seem subtle, maybe not harmful but can have detrimental consequences in the future.

About a year and a half. Her dad absolutely HATED me. I couldn't blame him. She was scary smart and had a brilliant future and ... really, couldn't say enough about her. I actually told her dad I couldn't blame him. He just kinda got exacerbated and shook his head, threw his hands up in the air. I was a mess and he knew it.

So, the rest of the story - after we broke it off, she went on to earn her PhD then about 3 years ago she got Hodgkins Lymphoma and died in 6 months. Nobody told me, you know. I actually found out about it several months later on internet stuff. I know this devastated her mom and dad.

That was real sad.

Do you think they push people into university, college and stuff and then it takes too much toll on them? I’m not saying that’s what happened to her, but maybe she would have had a better life being with you❤️.

Do you think that school caused her cancer?

I really appreciate you saying that, but.... no, don't think so. If nothing else, she was independent and an honest rebel. Heck, we were going to move to Montana and I was going to pick up a job with a rancher and she was going to sew and dry flowers. For he rest of our lives! if you can beieve that. Just a time, that's all.

That was so cool of you to be so selfless and not getting in the way of her dreams. When I moved to Maryland I worked with this girl that I was dating. Her parents were very strict. I worked night's and she used to skip school ( University of Maryland) to be together. We were in love. I was young and dumb but I let her go. (That hurt). She hated me. But I knew we had different paths and she wanted bigger and better things. She was'nt my first love But I loved her just the same...

haha a few days, cos he had to leave to go home so we decided to say goodbye. I met him on my travels, and thats the thing, you cant take them home or go with them because they live too far away. I was 21. I wasnt a christian then.

Some people do meet others on their travels, which is fun as long as the travel lasts, but then they find that actually settling down with someone is a whole different kettle of fish.

I am not the type of person who wants to move in with somene the moment I meet them. But I have met some people like that who assume so of me. which is kinda weird.

The only relationship I’ve been in and the only guy I’ve ever loved was 2 years and a couple of months.

This was like over 10 years ago.

How are we defining a relationship? I'm going to tell you about my first love.( younger folks. please close your ears) I had mentioned in my bio that I was in a musical in high school. My parents felt that the relationship with my drama teacher was in-appropriate . Sent me to live with my father's sister in Port St. Lucie .

New world for me. Humidity! I was a senior in high school. I went on dates with girls. But there was one girl that moved into town. Her mother worked for my aunt in a beauty salon. This was the first, last, and only time I went on a blind date. I refused. My aunt told me that one of her friends daughter moved back with her. Anyhow I ended up calling her. set up a date. When she opened the door I said to myself. Lord, let this be her. It was! It's late, I'll continue tomorrow...

I got lucky, I was her first date when she was 16 .. Her grandfather never allowed her to date and I'd never been serious until after a year dating she got one of those long shag haircuts and it dawned on me that ''what in the world was I waiting on'' and proposed that evening .. I am blessed and thankful .. She's beautiful inside and out and doesn't need make-up .. What a woman, but she did try to henpeck me for about 7 years lol .. Talk about two becoming one flesh and I'm the jerk but she says she is LOLOL
Going on 47 years now
