I go grocery shopping once a week and each time it seems to be an adventure of some sorts. The trip yesterday was no exception. My wife prepares the shopping list and she put a can of cherry pie filling on the list along with two packages of Philadelphia original cream cheese for a cheesecake she was going to make that night. Well, turns out the can of cherry pie filling somehow morphed into a can of strawberry by the time that I got home. These things happen at times. Especially to me.
Somewhat amused she asked me how did that happen. Told her that I looked at the can and saw that the fruit was red. She told me that she prefers her strawberries to be fresh and not in a can. Actually, I love strawberry pie filling so I really didn't care one way or the other. I did get the right size Keebler graham cracker crust though so that was a plus, albeit a minor one for me on my husband scorecard.
She said, "Honey, I will make the cheesecake anyway and tomorrow morning you can go back to the store and this time try harder to get the cherry pie filling". I told her to not make the cheesecake because by the time I get home with the cherry pie filling in the morning the cheesecake would probably be gone anyways. I would've put the strawberry pie filling on my allotted portion however big or small it would be. Well, she decided to wait until today to make the cheesecake.
I just returned from the store with the cherry pie filling so I'm in her good graces once again and can do no wrong. Just to be sure, I checked the can twice to avoid another shopping screw-up. Yep, it is still cherry and not only that I managed to find a can with extra fruit in it that she wanted. The brand was Comstock 'cause my honey deserves the best.
Now, don't get me started on the Jello pudding disaster from last year. She wanted the 'cook and serve' kind. Told me twice even. Have to get three different flavors. Yeah, you know it, somehow they all morphed into the instant kind. Must be going blind or maybe I have a screw loose. I will go with the latter. She docked my scorecard 3 points for that fiasco. It was well deserved.
Right now I'm trending towards strawberry. Some guys, especially husbands, learn the hard way.
