Perhaps I am only a weak man because there are thoughts of lighting up a smoke going through me. The thing about smoking is that you cannot really do this in moderation as it is extremely addictive and you build up a tolerance to nicotine. Soon, you smoke more and more just to get a decent fix. At one time in my life I was smoking 50 cigarettes a day. Now, I am smoking ZERO. I decided to quit out of the love that I have for my wife. She waited her whole life-time for me and it did not seem fair to her for me to keep smoking and to eventually be snatched away from her because of my foolishness.

The truth is her love for me has saved my life. But what has it saved it for? I believe that my life was spared so that I may show my love to my wife. It is a spiritual thing really and the love of God is involved.

Now, I am smoke-free and there is no need to lie anymore or suffer feelings of guilt and despair. The love of my wife is sufficient to carry me through the day and to hold me all night long.

Forum is the best place to bare your soul as most of the people will never meet you so how could you ever possibly be embarrassed? Wait....I married one of those people....never mind...... sometimes you do really meet them and then there is a possibility to be embarrassed.....about getting together sometime for a cheeseburger our family would love to meet your family.....name the place and we can arrange the meeting....
*oh don't go there, cheeseburgers, is my favorite, with lot's of sloppy*ketchup, dripping all over and out, on the sides, all over and just slop on some more, *not complete without a lot of sweet pickles.*

Sis, God fought for my soul for almost 20 years.
God knew the battle would last decades... still He fought.
This is nothing but satan trying to scare you if you want an honest opinion. He is angry because you're now with God and is looking how to weaken you, how to steal your joy, how to cause you to doubt or render you ineffective as a Christian, or separate you from God anyhow he can. This would be the fruit of thoughts you're having. Look at the fruit to judge the origin.

From the context in the Bible, blaspheming the Holy Spirit would be to attribute His works to the devil.. not seeing that in what you shared.
*Ty sooooooo much for sharing this. I was wondering what was happening, called today for prayer also, and put some people on the prayer list, giving them all over to him, let him deal with them, not losing anymore peace, over the tactics of those who want to rob, us of what the Lord has given us.*

I am so very proud of you, but please do this for yourself as far as health is concerned and do it because you want to clean your body temple for the Holy Spirit... as I am a human and there may come a time when I disappoint you and the temptation might come to do it again in spite. Your nature is not like that but the devil likes to hurt and harm us any way possible. So please do give the glory to God for helping you to have victory. I am glad my love for you could inspire you to stop, but I can't take the credit at all. Jesus is the one saving both of us....Again so very proud of you and the work God is doing in your life right now...Day one million is out there you just need God's grace one day at a time.....keep accepting it each day....and day one million will come sooner than you think......

Blond is an open book....full disclosure to most not all.....so guess I am doomed never get hired again.....don't want to.... but then if everyone knows everything then I can't be blackmailed....... lol
This is, seriously, the criteria under which we hired people at Raytheon. We had numerous people with felonies (even some with serious Sex and Assault charges) working there. But as long as they were open, and we knew about it, even giving some of them "Secret" clearances was no problem.

Well, "T", truthfully, our sugar-loaded, processed diets and sedentary lifestyles are going to kill most of us a whole lot faster than smoking will.

They say my body is the temple of God. I'm building Him a double-wide.

You can do it. This old man has walked three times a day for the past 15 years, as well as (sporadically, I'll admit) hitting the local gym.

My folks are in their mid 70's (dad turns 76 in May) and they walk their dog an average of 5 miles a day as long as weather permits.....if it's stupid cold they cut it down to a mile or two.

Blond was up at 3 ish AM yesterday around 10:00 AM had a crazy burst of energy talked husband into shed cleanout and dismantled a big heavy bookcase with a hammer. Boy it felt good to smash and bash that bookcase to death with a hammer would really have liked to do that to the little notebook that drives me crazy....but the bookcase was the recipient of destruction....I feel so much better now no more frustration.....any way.....tourist dismantled a couple of rotting shelving units together we just about filled a dumpster with why was I storing it materials? And somehow the shed is still full....how is that? Cleaner yes and I definitely got in my exercise for the day without a doubt.

May sound silly, but, I hope you take the time, whenever the opportunity presents itself, to tell them how much you love and appreciate them. One day..............well, there won't be the chance to........just saying........

I'm not sure if this was the right thread that was chronicling Tourist's journey to Freedom From Smoking, but I hope it's going well for both him and JesusLives. Going from 50 cigarettes a day to none is nothing short of amazing.

I have many friends who smoke and of course I wish they would stop, but they don't... and I worry about what the future holds. I had a friend once who was getting REALLY irritated at the fact that when he tried to smoke around me I'd grab the cigarette from him and break it in half... But he'd just given up an unhealthy long-term relationship and alcohol so smoking was his one last vice.

Congrats to you both for achieving the impossible!

Thank you for your kind words. It has been a struggle but there has been said much prayer for me to quit. With God nothing is impossible. Smoking was my only vice but that did not make it acceptable. I can picture you grabbing the cigarette and breaking it in half. It is an amusing thought. God Bless You.
