Thanks so much, Ugly. God bless you for sharing. Hey, your cousins' band is pretty good! I love their fantastic harmonies. But like you, that's not exactly my type of music.
Genres confuse me because ya really can’t categorize all music, ya know? What I meant by bluegrass/southern rock were groups such as Pure Prairie League, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Crash Kings, America, and Allman Brothers. Maybe even some Stevie Ray.
Awww, thank you for going through all that trouble, Lynx. I just took a listen to all your songs. Some of them are pretty cool. God bless you for that.
I am not a fan of most contemporary Christian music because there’s not much originality, imho. The songs mostly sound the same; same clichéd lyrics, same hokey music arrangements, same run-of-the-mill guitar solos, same standard voices. I used to listen to a lot more Christian music in the 90’s when there seemed to be more creativity and variety. After that, it seemed to grow predictable, everyone trying to sound like Hillsong or Third Day or Mandisa. It does nothing for my spirit anymore.
To me, music is music. I don’t label it Christian or secular, but I realize most everyone else does. God evidently loves music since He created some angels who do nothing but sing to Him, day and night: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come!” I love music that invigorates my heart, energizes my mind, and delights my soul in God. I sing every song to God, because He knows my heart is rejoicing in Him. Boy, does He know it! I sing my own lyrics to Him, too! And I hear Him sing back to me.
